Description

Specialties

We produce award winning, artisanal estate wines in limited quantities. Our sustainably farmed vineyards are deeply rooted in rugged calcareous (limestone) hills exposed to sunshine and ocean breezes consistently producing rich, complex fruit. Our harvest usually comes late in October or early November, which is at least six weeks longer than in warmer climates. This extended hang time for the grapes rewards us with premium and sophisticated fruit, resulting in exceptional wine. We invite you to experience our distinct estate vintages, blends and dessert wines.

History

Established in 2000.

Linda and Chris Behr purchased 91 acres of raw land in 1996. They made the slow transition from Los Angeles. They planted the vineyard in 2000, made their first vintage wine in 2003 and after all improvements were completed opened the tasting room in 2009. In 2008 two of our kids Jeff and Liz Freeland joined us at Oso Libre (FREE BEAR) Ranch and Winery. Today we enjoy over 30,000 visitors a year and work hard along side our other 280 winery neighbors to make Paso Robles one of the best wine regions in the world. We grow Vines, Wines and Angus. We sell Angus Beef to our wine club members. We are SIP (sustainability in practice) certified. Our Alpacas, sheep and Angus live part time in our vineyards providing weed control and fertilizer. We grow Mourvedre, Primitivo (Zinfandel), Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier and Granache Blanc.
