I’m not going to spend time writing a review. I’m just going to paste the email we sent to Aileen in regards to the Wedding Cake she made for us. She is very personable and we wish her the best, but as clients who use Unilocal,we feel people should know the type of work she may provide. For sure we don’t recommend her for wedding cakes. She did let us know that this was her side job. And so for a wedding, we learned the hard way that we should have gone with a professional bakery or baker who makes cakes full-​time.

Hi Aileen,
Thank you for returning half our payment, but we spent the last few days thinking about this and as you can imagine, we are were and still are very distraught with what you had presented to be our wedding cake. As you can attest, the cake was a disaster and looked nothing like what we had agreed upon. Overall, the workmanship was poor. The dimensions were off, the patterns were incorrect, the cake was slumped as if the cake melted. It looked so awful that it was embarrassing. When we arrived, we were shocked at how awful it looked. It was honestly one of the worst cakes we have ever seen and it should have never been brought to our reception. Throughout our conversations and meetings, you assured us that you could execute this design and that it would hold up with no problem. We kept asking if you were comfortable with this cake and its designs and you said that you were and that you had in fact already purchased the stencil for the patterns and would practice it; however, the final product did not even have the stencil pattern as we had agreed but instead, you had covered it with icing. The icing was bruised and you could tell the cake was improperly handled as there were smudges all over the cake. We could not understand why a replacement wedding cake was not purchased from another vendor so that at the least we could have a presentable cake for pictures. If you were unable to meet this deliverable, we should have been made aware so that we could find a replacement vendor.
Honestly, your conduct was extremely unprofessional. It took a lot for us to write this email, but the cake was so bad that we couldn’t even take pictures with it. Our Bridal Party sat with us throughout the night begging us to let them buy a small tiered cake. We let Max, the restaurant Manager, know that we did not even want to serve the cake, but he told us we should anyway. Max also informed us that he witnessed the entire event in regards to the cake’s arrival and setup. Max is an experienced manager and has been cutting wedding cakes for over 15 years at various hotels. During the end of the evening he felt the need to let us know that he had never seen a cake delivery and setup as concerning as what he witnessed on Saturday. In all his years of cutting wedding cakes, he emphasized to us that this was the hardest one he has ever had to cut due to the unevenness of the fondant. Our guests informed us that the cake wasn’t edible because the cake was too dry and the filling was too sweet and wet from the mandarin oranges. At the end of the evening, we were sad to see how much of the cake was left by the guests.
You met with us multiple times throughout these past few months and assured us that you could achieve the cake with no problems. We trusted you to meet this deliverable, but we have been terribly let down and feel that we have been taken advantage of. Not only were we embarrassed at our own wedding reception, but it ruined the entire mood of our evening. Furthermore due to the poor workmanship of the cake, we lost the opportunity to take pictures with us cutting our wedding cake. Our first toast was also dismissed because those two events go hand in hand. We could not believe this happened at our wedding. Furthermore, we were more surprised that you would deliver this cake as your final product. Honestly, the very least you could do, is give us a full refund.
We’re sorry to have to go this far, but you did not fulfill your contractual obligations and did not deliver what was promised. According to over half our guests, the cake was not even edible after the cake was served. We attached pictures of the cake we had agreed to be made for us as well as the pictures of the cake you presented.

Aileen did end up giving us a nice card and a full refund, but we also felt that a full refund should have been given rather than having to ask for it. Below is a picture of the cake we asked for and what we received. For my bride, this fiasco really did ruin the night and a wedding day is far too important to have to worry about being embarrassed about your wedding cake.

Cake pops were delicious! Aileen delivered samples so that my daughter can try before I ordered them. Will totally use her in the future and recommend her to family and friends!

Aileen saved the day. My partner and I had to organize an Open House event. We needed refreshments for the morning meeting. I had not heard of Simply Cupcakes but I Emailed Aileen. Not only did she respond quickly, she offered us a tasting. Everyone loved her cupcakes. She delivered the order early on the morning of the event. Cupcakes were delicious and beautiful. Not a crumb was left on the tray.
We will always call her first for any event!

Simply cupcakes is now my go to for cakes and desserts. My daughter has an egg allergy and it has always been a struggle to find someone who can bake a nice eggless cake. Aileen was such a pleasure! She checked and double checked with me about everything. She was able to make a beautiful eggless cake and cake pops for my son’s birthday. My daughter was able the eat the same cake as everyone else and she loved it! I was worried about how the cake might taste but it was delicious! You would not be able to tell it was eggless! I can’t stop raving about Aileen. I will be ordering all my birthday cakes, pops, cupcakes desserts from her. Her prices are very reasonable and she is such a nice person. Thank you thank you Aileen!

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s 1^st birthday & I had high expectations due to the reviews I saw on here. I was verry disappointed once we cut the cake. First off the knife wouldn’t go through the cake & once it did there was parchment paper rite in the middle of it, I don’t know what the purpose of the parchment paper was but it was quite embarrassing serving a cake with paper. On top of all of that the cake wasn’t good I ordered it a week before the party I don’t know when it might have been baked because it tasted verry dry & crumbly as if it had been refrigerated a few days. I wouldn’t mind 50 $ for a cake but I expect to get my money’s worth. DO NOT recommend what so ever!

Aileen is extremely talented and passionate about what she does and it shows. I have ordered both cupcakes and cakepops from her, and everyone who has ever tried her baking raves and asks about them. When making custom orders, she always checks to make sure everything is precisely to your tastes, and if there is anything that is beyond her she will let you know straight away so that there are no surprises. She invests a lot of herself into the desserts that she delivers and I have not seen another pastry chef with the same love and dedication. Her prices are a bargain and you will not find better elsewhere!
Must tries are her red velvet cakepops and carrot cake cupcakes. I have not had better anywhere else!

Aileen is absolutely amazing! I ordered 2 dozen cakepops from her for 2 seperate baby showers with different themes and they came out amazing… not only was she easy to work with, her products actually look AND taste good!
She also does cakes, I ordered a cake from her for a birthday this weekend and am very excited to try it out. I’m sure it’ll be as flawless as her other work.
Don’t hesitate to book her for your special events, there’s free delivery within 10 miles (LIFESAVER), it’ll make things a lot less stressful.

Omg i cannot even stress how much of a life saver Aileen was! I had a bachelorette party to attend and my original plan of providing desserts fell through two days before the party. I frantically was searching for someone to help me. Low and behold Aileen. I emailed her at 11pm at night and had a response the next morning when I woke up. She was so calm and collected and was willing to work within my theme as well. We agreed on a menu and she even provided a cooler to me to use for the weekend that I returned to her. She takes customer service to a whole new level. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. She is SO professional and just great. Not to mention her cheesecakes are delicious. My personal favorite is the red velvet cake pops (just as good 3 days later for breakfast!) Thank you Aileen for all your help!

Aileen was great. She was very quick and responsive to all of my emails and delivered the cupcakes to my home. My guests raved about the cupcakes and they looked amazing! Her Oreos cupcakes are amazing!

We had a bbq to go to this past weekend and were in charge of bringing desserts. Waiting until the very last minute is something I’m good at when it comes to bringing things to parties, and I realized too late that all of the bakeries I was going to check up on for desserts on Sunday would be closed.
By some stroke of luck I’m not sure I deserved, I found Aileen. I called her early Sat evening, and she answered. Within 10 minutes I found out that she delivered, that she would be baking cupcakes early the next morning, and that she could deliver everything to us the next day, before we left for the bbq.
** Heads up: You should know this, because I didn’t: it’s a virtual delivery bakery (on wheels) only… there is no store you can go to, so don’t try that.
She’s super nice, and her cupcakes were beautiful and delicious. There’s an oreo cupcake that has AN ENTIRE OREO COOKIE on the bottom. Who does that? (Aileen does). She also gave us extras accidentally she said, which we had no problem disseminating throughout all the guests’ bellies. One small child there ate two cupcakes and a cake pop and it gave him a nice sugar high for the entire day. It was a great experience watching him zip back and forth through the yard about 230 times. Highly recommended cupcakes!

Another beautiful cake from Simply Cupcakes! Anything but simple, but we got a lot of compliments for my son’s Planes party. I showed them a few pictures and she took it and ran with the design. So glad to have them in my town!

Amazing Service. Bristol Farms wants $ 2.50 per cake pop! You also have to pick them up and transport them wherever they are going. My daughter wanted cake pops for her classroom at school. Bristol Farms was too expensive so I started looking around. Simply Cupcakes had the best prices and they deliver! My daughter said that they tasted incredible. Just scratch this one off the list, order online and let Simply Cupcakes handle it. Thank you so much.

I ordered cake pops and cupcakes for my daughter’s 2^nd birthday. Not only was the service above and beyond, the cake pops and cupcakes were fantastic… very moist and not overly sweet, just right. Aileen is great to work with and very accommodating. I will definitely be ordering from her again!

I usually don’t write reviews but decided after having these mini cheese cakes and cake pops, I had to leave a great review. I was looking for Mickey Mouse cake pops for my 3 year old son and I came across Simply Cupcakes. Aileen was great and so professional. Our email communication was great and prompt all the time, we exchanged emails everyday about the details. I placed my order and sure enough within days, Aileen delievered my order on time as she promised. They looked amazing. Once my guest tasted the cake pops and mini cheese cakes, I heard great reviews. I had to taste them for myself. I sure did and loved them!!! Everything was great, the entire experince was amazing. I will def use them again. I just wish I would’ve ordered more… they were gone within one hour :(Thank you Aileen for the great experience. You will be hearing from me again!

The best cake & cupcakes!!! The service was superb!!! Aileen & her daughter are great! They really listened to what we wanted and made it happen! We highly highly highly recommend Simply cupcakes of Pasadena!!! The cake & cupcakes we ordered for our daughters 15^th birthday were a hit and were gone! EVERYBODY at our party LOVED the cake & cupcakes!!! We had strawberry & espresso cupcakes & a 2-​tiered espresso cake and ALL gone!!! This is my «go to» bakery!!!

Aileen is AMAZING!!! Red velvet cake pops are toooo die for. In love I am all over again everhtime. She did her cake pops for my Baby Shower just this past weekend my guests were at Aw of not only the look but also the taste. She will be doing all my events in the future to come.

We had a wonderful experience working with Simply Cupcakes. I made an appointment for cupcake tasting for our wedding and Simply Cupcakes not only presented different designs on cupcakes but also brought cakepops! They were all declicous and the samples fed my whole family!!! I knew right there and then that I wanted Simply Cupcakes to do my Wedding Cupcakes. I also ordered the cakepops. There were too delicious!!! And prices are very reasonable. I will be now be using Simply Cupcakes for every event!

We had the pleasure of working with simply cupcakes to design our wedding cake for our wedding on ¹¹⁄₂₄. They were wonderful and guess what they dont just do cupcakes they made amazing cakepops both taste and décor and a very very reasonable price.
I will def use them in the future
