Shape House

Parking was a little bit tricky, but that’s my only complaint! Everything else was wonderful, the experience, the girls working there, the tea was yummy. Love it. Bought a membership. :)

This is my go to place to detox, watch some Netflix, and relax. I prefer coming at night because it sets a better tone while I’m trying to cool down. What I also like is at this location there is a shower. I don’t like getting into clean clothes after sweating or in my car. Gross. Otherwise, I highly recommend Shape House for those who want some quiet time to themselves.

Absolutely love this place it’s a great refreshment to get away from everything. The first 15 minutes will be good and 15 minutes after that be a little difficult if your not use to heat and in the last 15 minutes will be pretty hard as well but once you get the fresh lavender towel on your forehead you feel amazing

After you’re welcome to use the restroom take a shower get ready or go into the relaxing room and eat some oranges and drink tea.
Definitely everyone should try this at least once and see the results of how you feel.

My new addiction… I am loving every bit & piece of this concoction: Sweat, relax & rejuvenating adventure… great, clean place, the BEST customer service… exactly what I imagined. A must try!

I go for lymphatic drainage as the sweat bed is a tad constricting for me but I believe the benefits outweigh that con if you can hang. I adore Abby at the Pasadena location. She’s been super kind and helpful and she’s also really comforting. I decided to do the easy once a month membership because it’s only $ 36 and drops each session down by $ 9 even if you go more than once a month. I’m super bummed that they don’t have an actual infrared sauna for us claustrophobes but that’s my only gripe.

This place is awesome! I did a groupon for a session this past weekend and would highly recommend. I was immediately greeted by friendly staff. The place is supper clean & the session is amazing. Would definitely come back

Love love LOVE. Everyone should try. Its better if you go with a friend and talk. It goes by quicker.
Utilize the room they take you to after your sweat. Eat a lot of oranges. It helps you to last longer in the sauna at the gym. Now I can easily do 30 plus minutes without ANY ISSUE.

If you want to sweat and I mean reallllllly sweat, come to Shape House! I’ve already done a detailed review for Shape House at their Santa Monica location Unilocal page, so go there if it’s your first time and you want to know what to expect.
I enjoyed the Santa Monica location better than this one because for one, the Santa Monica location has a dedicated parking lot. This location you have to find street parking. The Pasadena location seemed a bit more cramped as well, but the bathrooms and the relax rooms are the same.
I would recommend trying Shape House out at least once regardless of where you decide to go! Try it out with the Unilocal deal to save some money. The Unilocal deal only works for your first time though.

Like another reviewer said, the actual sweat experience is amazing. I’ve been a member for almost a year and really believe that regular sweating improves ones health. The facility is also nice and the ladies that work there are super friendly and attentive to your comfort level.
The one suggestion I have is DO NOT, DO NOT subscribe to their monthly membership as they are always offering promotion packages (almost every other month) at a lower cost then the memberships. Right now they have a $ 27/​session promotion at the Pasadena location. You just need to check their website (and the internet such as groupon and etc) for these promotions and stock up. ALSO, if you do subscribe to their membership (as i did for a year), when you decide to cancel you will lose ALL your unused sessions. However, they do offer you a buy back option of the unused sessions BUT at the full price of $ 42 a session… totally not fair and NO incentive for being a loyal subscriber!

Love shape house!!! The service is excellent. We were taken care of from the moment we walked in and immediately put at ease. They give you clothes but I brought my own. The ones they provide are very stiff. You have plenty of water and a great selection of movies/​tv to watch. Definitely incorporating this into my routine!

I absolutely love Shape House and all the health benefits that come after each session. Let me start off by saying that I am a pretty hardcore hot yoga addict. I am usually one of the students that will get annoyed when the heat is not cranked up enough. So I am no newb to sweating my butt off and this experience is very similar minus the physical exertion
So you will be wrapped up in a heated sleeping bag for one hour and you will sweat like you never have before. from your head to your toes. Sounds easy right… wrong! It may be uncomfortable if you’re not use to this type of heat and being wrapped up where you can’t really move your body besides your arms, but there is a TV and Roku available to keep you distracted. I personally just like to listen to music or a podcast episode.
A wet towel is brought to you after your halfway mark and alkaline water is at your bedside if needed, but make sure not to drink too much to avoid going to the restroom. After your one hour is up, you can hang out in the relaxation room where they offer tea and orange slices.
After my session I usually feel rejuvenated and notice an increase in my energy level and a change in my mood. I also feel like I get such great sleep the night of. I’m not sure if this will actually help you lose weight or inches and if it does. just remember that it is temporary. This should not substitute any type of physical activity or diet, but would be great to add it into your health regimen as there are many health benefits.
I would definitely recommend Shape House if you are looking relax and release some toxins.
Tips: long pants and long sleeve shirts are provided but you can bring your own and plenty of street parking available

This is a cool place to check out! They first give you a brief intro to what it’s like. Then, you can chose to borrow some convict like oversized sweats and shirt. They take you upstairs where they have individual spaces with curtains to give you privacy. In each room, there will be a tv, remote, the free bottle of alkaline water, a call button in case you need anything and a bed for the sauna suit. After about 20 minutes, they bring you a cold washcloth that smells like lavender. It’s very refreshing to put it on your head to contrast the hotness! It went by rather quick for me and I didn’t really suffer at all. They say the last 15 minutes are excruciating, maybe because I kept alternating my arms; leaving them out and putting them inside the sauna suit. Afterwards, you go downstairs to the relaxation room, where you enjoy tea and slices of orange. I did sweat quite a hit but not nearly as much as I thought I would. I definitely felt more relaxed and the heat was very therapeutic for my joints and muscles. I felt less stressed and refreshed after detoxing! I’m
not sure if I would be a club member, but it was defiantly worth checking out! Very cool experience :)

The actual sweat experience was really amazing. It is a great detox & you def feel very relaxed afterwards. The smart TV’s in each room add to the experience along w/​the lavender towel mid way through. I enjoyed learning the concept & give it to the owners for bringing it to life. I have gotten these type of detox’s before & this was one of the better experiences, as far as the sweat that is.
There are some improvements that need to be made though. Customer service & setup lacked in the following areas: On 2÷20÷16 I came in around 1p to book an appointment. Prior to going there in person, I have called the facility and left a message but didn’t hear back. Message was left during the week. I come in on ²⁄₂₀ & the very first thing the receptionist said was, «Name,» in a unfriendly, abrupt tone. Not a hello or a welcome or any type of greeting whatsoever. Lose the LA attitude. It doesn’t leave a good first impression, isn’t cute & gets old. Real quick. I then mentioned that it was my first time & I left a message to have yet to hear back. Without any accountability or even saying, I apologize for that, she went onto proceed to the appointment times that were available. Not ok. At least acknowledge, what I’m saying. After making an appointment time I went ahead and asked for the managers name. The young receptionist then mentioned, that there isn’t really a manager. Really?!! How does an establishment w/​3 locations have no manager? I call bs. But you know what, I actually believe that there is no manager because the customer service lacked. Bad. I then asked who can I talk to. All of a sudden a change in tone and attitude, right when I asked for the manager. How cliché. I was then told to arrive 10 – 15 min to fill out paperwork prior to my appointment.
I then arrived 15 min early on 2÷21÷16 (appt at 1:55p) There was no one in front to greet so then I took a seat in the waiting area. Finally after 10 min a person came to the front (no one was in front the entire time) & asked if I been helped. I said no. They proceeded to give me the iPad to sign & initial paperwork. This is not acceptable. A first time customer should not have to arrive early for nothing and then wait 10 min to be given paperwork. I was then was prompted to change without anyone explaining anything to me. The box given to me had 2 shirts inside (no pants) I then asked the woman helping if it was suppose to come w/​pants & then she gave me a pair. Something is off here. I was then ready to start. After getting setup, the remote control wasn’t working. For the next 15 – 20 min the ladies were trying to figure out why it wouldn’t work. There’re in & out of the room & just didn’t start off being a good experience. I then asked if I can be moved to another room but they were booked. Wow. The lady then asked if I been here before & I said no. She then mentioned, oh I’m sorry this is happening on your first time. After about 15 – 20 the remote was fixed & I was finally able to relax. The lavender towel, oranges & tea were a nice touch, however, as mentioned above the customer service & setup needs to improve. This does not leave a really good impression for a first timer. I expressed my frustration to the front desk in which they went ahead to proceed to checking me out, again with no apology. I paid $ 36 for something that isn’t up to par. I’m not really happy w/​the lack of consideration along with the lack of accountability. From anyone. Unfortunately, this killed the experience & I won’t be returning. The quality of the service & setup needs to improve. I’m not one to write bad reviews (you can see my profile as proof) but by far this one needed to be validated.

Heard about this place on the radio. Selena Gomez was raving about this place. I happen to see a Groupon for it soon afterwards! This place is beyond my budget, but after I saw the Groupon, I knew it was fate. It was meant for me to try this place out.
You need to make an appointment online.
Free street parking nearby.
You need to sign a waiver before the treatment.
You can either wear your own clothes (like pj with long sleeve top and bottom with socks) or wear their big top and bottom with their socks. Personally, I like wearing their stuff better.
You are zipped up into a plastic bag. They place your bottle of water on your right side. Handed the remote so that you can either watch shows (I caught up Duck Dynasty) or listen to Pandora.
You are in this thing for less than an hour. It’s 72 degrees, but it starts to get intense the last 20 minutes. They check on you twice. The 2^nd check is when she applied the cool lavender smell towel on my forehead which smells and feels so good!
Afterward, you get to sit in the Relax room and she gives you two slices of orange and you get to pick what type of hot tea to drink. I noticed some people sweat more than I did.
That night, I had the best sleep ever.
Would I do it again? Yeah, but preferably with a coupon.

The customer service here is actually really great. They try and explain how the whole experience works, the technology and the health benefits. They provide clothes and socks to sweat in if you don’t want to wear your own. They get you set up with headphones to watch stuff from a roku and you get into your sweat inducing sleeping bag. It’s hot. It’s not comfortable. I made two errors — drinking too much water before getting in the bag (feeling like you have to pee and can’t escape sucks), and trying to watch a movie and feeling like I had no sense of time (I think better to watch short little episodes to pass the time). I don’t think this is worth the hype and I’d rather work out. But the service is good and the place is nice if you’re into sweat lodges.

Tried the lymphatic. Absolutely loved it. It feels AMAZING esp after a hard workout. Doesn’t hurt at all, it’s like getting your blood pressure take all over ur legs, arms, feet and hips. For me the feet are the best part. It feels so dang good. Then i did a sweat right after. Two hours of bliss. Try it!

I purchased 3 sessions for $ 69 and finally got around to using them this past month when I was visiting California. While I like Shape House and the sweat sessions, I don’t know if it is something I would do regularly, especially without a groupon. It was EXTREMELY relaxing which is what I personally enjoyed out of the whole thing. It didn’t help me with water weight, I felt okay, but not «amazing» afterwards but I’m assuming those benefits come after doing a few sessions.
The staff was really friendly as they walked through the process with me. While laying in the bed you can watch just about anything with Hulu, Netflix, Roku or even just listen to Pandora. Again it was very relaxing to just get away and watch some of my favorite shows. The last 20 minutes of the session are the hardest but if you just put on a good show thats an hour long, just remember when the episode is done, you’re just about done with your session.
After, they take you to their relaxing room where you can stay as long as you want and they give you tea and oranges. I stayed for about 15 – 20 minutes just to relax and cool off.
Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend to at least trying it once.

It is my first time here. The sweat is great. The staff are very nice and polite. You can watch multiple channels during your sweat.
When my session is done. I wasn’t sure if my tears are out with my sweat. I’m sweat from head to toes. Just like that.
Afterwards, you can chill out in their relax room listening to sound of ocean.

I bought a Groupon deal for $ 69 for 3 sweat sessions to try out this place. The location isn’t that hard to find, but it doesn’t have a big sign so it can be missed if you don’t look carefully.
We were greeted right away when we first walked in. The place obviously has an orange theme inside, but the interior design and the soothing music will right away give u a very relaxing feel. I handed the printed deal to the front desk lady and she got us started right away with the waiver. She never once gave us a look for using a groupon deal, which made me feel so comfortable (unlike other places lol).
Hubby and I arrived 3 min before our appt time, which was kinda late because the lady said we should be at our infrared blanket within 5 min of our appt. It was our first time so yeah, we wore the wrong clothes too lol. But no worries, they had extra clothes they lend us for first-​time use… required clothes are cotton long sleeves and pants with socks. The lady gave us a small tour as well where the bathroom and the relaxing room are, then handed us the basket to putour stuff then we proceeded to the sweat room. Hubby and I were right next to each other so it was perfect, they have solo room too if u want your alone time.
So, they tucked us in and the heating began… Let me tell u, at first it felt like nothing, but once 20 min passed… OMG, the real deal began lol. I almost didnt last the whole 50 min, coz I can feel my sweat getting all crazy. But thank goodness for roku and I’m able to calm myself with my Game of Thrones lol. A lady check up on us almost every 15 min to make sure we’re still alive haha. Towards the end, she put a wet towel on our foreheads to relax us a bit.
After the session, we went to the relaxing room. I drank almost three bottles of alkaline water then some complimentary tea. The relaxing room is just right. Finally, we changed to our normal clothes and left this place highly satisfied and feeling refreshed. I highly recommend this place!!! You gotta try it and your body will thank u, so relaxing!

Shape House Pasadena is super cute, located in a nice quaint neighborhood. I first heard about Shape House from a friend after asking her what she has been doing because she looked so great!!!
I started at the Larchmont Village location, which is the original location. And need to actually do a review for that location too!
Shape House has been so instrumental to my health… I have had multiple surgeries and officially «disabled» so have limited mobility. The infrared heat has done wonders for my pain and also detoxing from years of chemo and other treatments I have had. I feel absolutely better after I sweat! Aches and pains seem to diminish… and sleep so well after. The cardio effects are so helpful for me too since I have limited mobility this is helpful. For those of you that may have limited mobility too, you should note that this location is two stories so there is a flight of stairs, on an achy day for me this takes me a little bit to climb, but no pressure or rush to go up the stairs. The Larchmont and Santa Monica locations are one story.
Shauna at this location get’s five stars for her awesome demeanor. She’s always friendly, professional, and makes sure your experience is five stars from the time you walk in, to your tuck in, and then as you wrap up your experience.

–Parking: watch for the street signs, some of the parking is for residents only.
–Bring a bottle of water which they will fill for you with their alkaline water, complimentary of course!
–Arrive early, so that you have time to change, find parking, and get your time in to sweat =)
