Picantillo

My review is simple… I will not be back. We ordered the «Sizzling Chicken Fajitas» and they were not good. To the point we couldn’t eat them. They tasted like something a 10 y/​o would make. The waitress was nice and saw that the meal had barely been touched. She said that she would talk to her manager to see if she could have it removed from our check. The manager never came out, nor did our lousy dish (I could have fed it to my dog). They offered us $ 5 off on our next meal. We purchased a $ 15 meal that we could not eat and they took the liberty to throw away ¾ of it in the trash. I rarely write a bad review but, this is a cowardly way of running a business.
In short, any one that wants to take advantage of my $ 5 coupon have at it. I will never be back here. This is a shame when people go out of their way to support a local business. I will be giving my next $ 80 meal to another local business.

It was a «it’s Thursday and I don’t want to cook or eat at all the normal places or go far from home» kind of night. So, we went back here after a couple year hiatus (for no good reason.)
Let me start by saying the salsa was so good. Even the kid-​let liked it. I got the chicken soft tacos which were delicious. I don’t remember what my husband ate but mostly we were kicking ourselves that we hadn’t eaten there more often.
Except for the parking lot still being really tiny and Mountain Road traffic staying consistently awful, this will definitely become a go to place for Mexican. Can’t beat it when it’s two minutes away.

Food is ok but the service was not good! Myself and my wife and daughter were seated and did not see a server for at least 15 minutes. Another couple was seated after us and was having drinks and appetizers before a server came to our table. This is the 2^nd time we have dined here and the service was not good the last time either. I had to ask another server if she could inform my waitress to please come to our table because She has not come back to our table since we received our dinner and she forgot our drinks. 3^rd time will not be the charm. We will not return!!!

Just tried Picantillo for the first time today. Was great and amazing food. My wife and I tried the combo platter and the three chip dunking combo. It was amazing. Prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly, nice, and very helpful with what to try for a first time. Will have no problem going back to this place.

Friendly staff and easy atmosphere. We stopped off after a family event for a drink and really enjoyed our visit. Tasty chips and salsa + margaritas.

Excellent food and service. I have dined here many times and each time I have been very pleased. Although I used to go to Lista’s, Picantillo’s is a better dining experience and a much better value. Go here and you will come back!

This little resturant has been here for awhile now and I finally got the chance to dine there last month. We had the Tacos, hard and soft and I must say I am picky about Tacos and I really liked them. The chips and salsa was also a very nice addition to the experience. Our Waiter Jarrett was very nice and attentive. It was overall a great experience, we will be dining there again soon.

We love Picantillo! There are very few consistently good, non-​franchise chain restaurants in the area but Picantillo is definitely a stand out. First, the service is incredible. Wait staff is attentive, quick, knowledgable and not afraid to make a recommendation. All great in our book! Second, the food is incredible. Tonight’s chimichanga’s were some of the best we’ve ever eaten. (One shrimp and one carnitas) The house made salsa and chips are a great start. Oh and don’t miss the crab and cheese stuff jalapeños…just the right amount of heat to make them great for anyone’s palate. We’ve tried the tacos, enchiladas and the tortillas; all tasty and perfectly cooked. Margaritas are tasty and good sized.
The menu is well priced and pretty cheap compared to the high quality of food and portion size. A little shocked to read other reviews of this restaurant claiming the prices are high. Where else do you get a huge shrimp chimichanga of this quality (over 15 shrimp), chips, salsa, beans and rice for $ 13 at a sit down restaurant? Umm no where. For those who don’t appreciate excellent Mexican food, Taco Bell is just up the street!

Love the brunch at Picantillo! Lunch/​dinner good as well but breakfast is where it’s at! Love server Theresa always nice and remembers what you like.

Food was bland and overpriced. My daughter was served a completely different dish then she ordered. My daughter said she would eat the served dish because she didn’t want to get her food after we were all finished (eat alone at the end). To make matters worse the dish she was served was more expensive then the one she ordered… guess which one we were charged for?

The «Dinner Specials» page inserted in the menu said «Large House Margarita– $ 6». It seemed a little pricey, but we went ahead and ordered two «Large Margaritas». When we got the bill we were charged $ 9 each for the two drinks. When I said they were supposed to be $ 6 the waitress said that is for the «HOUSE» margarita. I just smiled and said nothing, knowing that she was going to personally pay for the overcharge for me anyway, out of her tip.
I thought the food was OK but overpriced. If they would lower their prices by 25% across-​the-​board (and stop the bait-​and-​switch) then I think the place would be popular. However, I was there on a Saturday evening during dinner hours and the place was only at about ¹⁄₃ capacity. My guess is that they won’t be in business very much longer unless they offer a better value. Instead, my suspicion is that they are failing, panicking, and desperate enough to do the bait-​and-​switch.

Great food, friendly service, highly recommend! Waitress Teresa was wonderful – she couldnt be nicer and made us feel comfortable. Breakfast has huge portions and good prices. We will be back here!

Last time we picked up food, they forgot to include the soup. Could not refund the cost, only give us the soup next time we visited. Or we could drive back to the restaurant.
Tonight we ordered tacos, and the soup that was missed last time.
They remembered the soup, but did not include the sour cream, guacamole, lettuce or picante sauce that are included with the taco platter.
If you get carry out, check your order before leaving the restaurant.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! It looks like a dive on the outside but when you go inside it’s nicely renovated. the food is always fresh and delicious! We live in Baltimore but when we are craving great Mexican food we definitely make the drive!

This place is about as average as you can get. The salsa tasted like ketchup, the tortillas were standard, the steak in the fajitas was tough, the guacamole didn’t taste super fresh, and the peppers didn’t have a lot of flavor. I compare this restaurant to El Salto’s in Glen Burnie. I have definitely had better. There is nothing about it that will draw me to come back.

We have only dined at Picantillo on a couple of occasions but we were pleasantly surprised each time. They have a nice mix of food on the menu and their margaritas are very good.
The first time we went I had the Shrimp Fajita Wrap which was really good but I really wished that it was served with fries instead of more tortilla chips. My husband had the Chimichanga which he really enjoyed. The last time we went I had the Crab Cake Sandwich and I actually liked it quite a bit.
It is nice to have a restaurant like Picantillo in Pasadena because they offer something different and they have reasonable prices.

Average Tex Mex eatery.
The food and restaurant should get a 2 star but the staff were so nice it will get a 3. Bright hispanic colors that serve margaritas. I cant comment on the alcohol because I was not able to imbibe. Menu had some interesting items including oysters that you usually dont see at a tex mex restaurant. Got the enchiladas. Seems like it ran into the same olé te mex restaurant problems, refried beans didnt taste fresh and the beef in the beef enchilada tasted a little off. I’ll give it another shot, maybe this place will grow on me.
