The Pasadena Martial Arts Academy is great! We’ve been coming for almost two years, since our son turned 4 and started the «Little Ninjas» program. Senseis Eric, Barry, and Andy do an amazing job with kids. They make it fun for the kids, and the instruction is excellent. We have been more than satisfied and would recommend it to anyone. Our younger son is almost old enough to start Little Ninjas and we’re looking forward to him joining as well. See you there!

My daughter 5 years old and my nephew the same age have been coming here for a few months now and i absolutely love it!!! Sensei Eric and Sensei Barry are amazing with the children, they love and respect there Sensei’s very much i am glad i found this place and i would highly recommend it to any one looking into karate for there-​self or there children.

I enrolled my then 4 year old last May and am continually impressed with the staff at this Dojo. Sensei Eric is amazing with my son and keeps all of the children actively engaged and loving Karate! So delighted we found this place!

Such wonderful staff who work great with their students. Our son has been here over a year and we have seen him grow now only in his skill and strength, but also in his confidence. I am a black belt from another Dojo, but I did some free classes here in hopes of picking it back up as I miss doing Karate.
The Good: The staff is wonderful: very friendly and encouraging. They are knowledgeable and are well versed in teaching step by step. It is also nice that they do not teach everyone like they are 5. The adult class is taught as though *gasp* we are adults. A lot of studios have trouble switching between the age groups, but this Dojo does it flawlessly.
The Bad: Very expensive, unfortunately. :/​Well out of my price range. Also, not the greatest of locations. (Plus, I don’t live in the area, so for me it was about a half hour drive.)
I would definitely recommend this Dojo for people who are committed to Karate, not so much for people who just want to get a feel, there are much cheaper locations to do that with.

We found Kaizen through word of mouth of trusted friends. This Dojo is like a family. After watching my daughter take Karate for a few months, I was inspired to take lessons as well. For us it has been an amazing mother daughter bonding experience! For me, it has changed me at a cellular level. The Senseis are positive and great with kids and adults. I started this journey of being a black belt more than 20 years ago. Even though I was really closed to reaching my black belt at the time I was not able due to different circumstances in my life and I had to postpone it for longer than I expected.
But it wasn’t until my older son was ready to start his own Journey five years ago; that I realized I have an opportunity to do so.
I went to this studio in Pasadena looking for my original Martial Arts training, but when I got there, I felt disappointed because it was a different one. But my wife and I sat there to watch a class and were gladly impressed how the sensei’s taught these kids. So we decided to give it a try for my son, and then eventually for me, even that it meant to start as a white belt all over again. It was a good decision after all, and I never regretted it, because we got more than just the training.
I love the respect the instructors at Kaizen give to the Martial Arts, that is not only a physical challenge, but an honor and a privilege. They teach specially the kids to have respect for the Art and having respect for everyone around them. They teach them always push to the limit and be the best they can be, and still be humble.
I firmly believe that in life, you need many stones to build a strong foundation, to build a better «you», such as good parents, education, friends, love, family, and many other things that makes you stronger. Teaching martial arts to my kids will eventually provide them more tools to build their self-​stem and stones for their foundation. I can’t ask for a better place to accomplish this. Kaizen is a family oriented place, and I’m so glad to be part of it. It’s a great class for Kids and Adults too.
I recently achieved my Black Belt and hopefully my son will soon do too.
I strongly recommend Kaizen Martial Arts, because as they say at the end of each class: «They are building Champions for Life».

I first started at Kaizen Martial Arts after my mom and younger brother were already well on their ways to becoming black belts. I joined in because I saw how much fun they were having, plus I’ll admit that I have some weight loss goals I have yet to complete… I never knew then, that I would call this amazing group of people my family. No one passed judgment on me for being the «Fat chick» in class, in fact it was the opposite. Everyone has encouraged me in my journey to become the best person I can be, physically and mentally. When my class mates see me hit a plateau they are behind me pushing me past it. It has been just under a year now and I’m already down 45 pounds! If you are looking for a place that will help you reach ANY goals you have for yourself, Kaizen Martial Arts of Pasadena is THE place to go.
