Ewing Architects is a full service architectural design firm specializing in site and master plan design, architectural design, interior design, building renovations and restoration design. We are also involved in the design of custom furniture, lighting and various fixtures for our projects.

Our project goals are to design sustainable, efficient solutions functionally and aesthetically in conformance with the client’s program and budget while maintaining compatibility with the immediate environment.

Ewing Architects is interested in any project large or small where the client strives for the same excellence and level of quality we are committed to with each and every project.

History

Established in 1972.

Ewing Architects was established in 1972 and located in a renovated brick building structure in South Pasadena. Thirteen years later we renovated two circa 1905 structures in Pasadena and established our office space of over 5,000 SF.

We have extensive experience in a wide variety of project types. Since 1972 over 1,000 projects have been designed by this office.

The firm is composed of a diverse group of professionals. The staff includes several project architects as well as specialists in interiors and master planning.

Business Owner

Doug Ewing began his career as a 17-​year-​old apprentice in the innovative and nationally known firm of Smith & Williams Architects in South Pasadena. Wayne Williams, a nationally known architect and recreational planner became his mentor. His creativity, problem solving skills and design skills were developed during this ten year period.

In 2011 The Jury of Fellows selected Doug for elevation to Fellowship in The American Institute of Architects (FAIA) for his notable contributions to the advancement of the profession of architecture. Doug’s leadership and creativity in developing new design, technology, and methodology for heavy timber and log construction of recreational structures and entertainment environments greatly influenced the jury in his selection. Doug’s work has been published in numerous magazines, books and on HGTV. He has received over 40 awards from the AIA, National, State, and regional organizations.
