John McDonough, our sales professional is the man to speak to if you’re looking for window shades! Upon walking in to the showroom, I instantly knew I was in good hands when John greeted me. John is very knowledgeable of the Hunter Douglas line and answered all of my questions with ease. I also was very impressed with his showroom since he physically had almost every specimen and sample of the shades we were looking for. I was able to touch and feel exactly the same model I would be having in my home. He explained the functions of the window shades throughly and even showed me designs that I didn’t know Hunter Douglas had! John went over the measuring schedule patiently and thoroughly went through each shade item with each room to make sure we had the right sample for each window so there wouldn’t be any mistakes and headaches when everything arrived! The windows are on order and I just can’t wait to see the final product after installation!

John at Designer Window Fashions was truly professional, prompt, and courteous from the start to the finish of our interactions. Ironically, I ended up not purchasing what I had intended to purchase, due in part to his diligence with Hunter Douglass and his clear commitment to make sure I was a satisfied customer. It is not every day that a business recommends that a customer NOT order an expensive product. Specifically, I was seeking to have special shades that would totally blacken a room, and the advertisements (and the person on the phone) at Hunter Douglass affirmed that these shades would do the trick. John spent time with me figuring out the optimal materials and colors and promptly ordered them. His technician who came to measure was also prompt and courteous. Along the way, however, John went the extra mile to make sure that these shades would indeed totally blacken a room. (After all, any black-​out shades purchased at a big box store will do a decent job, so these high-​end and pricey items should do better, right?). When John detected that HD representatives were being ambiguous in their responses, he actually ordered a piece of the shade frame to inspect its ability to block light. Sadly, it does a poor job, and he and I both agreed that the manufacturer could have easily designed a much better product. Thus, John recommended against their «block-​out» shades, I agreed, and he refunded my money on the spot. Yes, it is frustrating that I am back to Square 1, but thanks to John, I don’t have extremely expensive (north of $ 1200.00) custom shades installed that do not accomplish what is advertised. Bottom line: John was a real pro in a situation where he could have simply blamed the manufacturer and taken his profit. Instead, he forfeited his sale in order to spare me major disappointment, and preserved something much more important in the process: integrity. I know that I will have no hesitation using him for any future window treatment needs because it is clear that: 1) he knows the trade, 2) he demands excellence, and 3) he places customer satisfaction far above profit.

What can I say? The products are superior, the warranty can’t be beat, and John McDonough has been a thorough professional doing lovely work at our home. I have needed to stop in at the shop a few times and he has NEVER hesitated to give me excellent service, even a spare part or two in the wake of a toddler rampage. This business is highly recommended.

I have a custom built house and needed a lot of window dressing treatment. I went to various places and looking for good advice and met John at Designer Window Fashions about one year ago. He came to our house and gave us various options. He is a very intelligent man and gave us many valuable advice in our window treatment needs. We had such a great experience with John that we used him for an additional window covering. He visited to measure the window and didn’t like the way another window covering we had gotten from him several months ago was hanging, so he re-​ordered another for us at no charge to us. His installer, Nick, also visited to install both window coverings and spent extra time ensuring that they hung as perfectly as they could. We have a 50-​year-​old home and some of the window framing is not even, but Nick worked hard to give us a great look. I cannot recommend this retailer highly enough. Convenient showroom located in Pasadena, very clean and organized. Having the showroom helped us visualize how the product would look in our home. John helped us get a good quality product to fit our budget. We had minor hiccups, that John handled in a professional manner. Very knowledgable in his product, he helped us keep our cost down.
