I give this place 0 stars dumb it wont let me give 0 this is the worst office ive ever been too they are lairs and dont stick to what they promise on contract they are money hunger and i love the new dentist im going too they will work on 4 teeth at the same time for half the price and one thing to beware of is the braces department i had braces on was seeing one dr then they got a new dr hos name is Dr Allen and he total changed what my other doctor was doing and had to keep my braces on longer they are lairs and will not help u at all so for that they get 0 stars for dental care office visit and attitudes all of the that work there suck im a person that can handle my own so they did not get too me one bit

Clearly with 118 reviews and this office being at ONE star, you know you’re wasting your money going here.
I’m going to give short, bullet point reasons why you shouldn’t go/​what i experienced.
***I also heard they changed their name (as most awful businesses do) to Premier Care Dental Group
1) They are VERY unwilling to work with you (even if you previously spent over $ 5000 out of pocket with them in 6 months) if you have to cancel due to illness or an emergency. You had better be dead if you couldnt show up. With or without a call. So expect to pay that cancel fee.
2) The up-​selling will not stop from the moment you sit in the chair.
3) There is no reassurance, only the constant badgering about how bad your teeth are (mind you, I only had 1 cavity) yet they treated me as though my mouth was rotting and like i needed braces. I was blessed with almost perfectly straight teeth… yet they STILL wanted to pressure me into braces.
4) They are overpriced. I challenge you to compare their prices to ANY other dentist. Even by Pasadena standards, they are outrageous.
5) The members of the front office staff are much more worried about their hair than their service to patients.
This was the short list, I could go on, but you get the drift. Avoid at all costs!

Paid 1000 $ for tooth removal on my nephew (1 yr old), and canceled the appt in less than 24 hrs after reading reviews. That was in mid November. It is now 12÷27÷13 and I still have not received my $ back. It’s always, «it will be there next week». I have had enough. I’m going to call them and tell them that I’m marching right in there and I want a check, forget this electronic transfer crap. Don’t go here!!!

If you like sullen service, slow response time and a «luxurious» waiting room in the basement beneath a CVS – this is the place for you! But I only discuss the reception process… Once inside, prepare to be awed by the high prices for a moderate-​to-​low level of professionalism and service. This place is so terrible, it compelled me to write my first Unilocal!review of my life to persuade others to vote with their pocketbooks and try somewhere else. My husband and I should have read these reviews before disappearing into the vortex. This place is lucky to have a «one star» rating. Look at the reviews… The only good ones only discuss dentists, not the business in general, and that is the difficult part. Probably good people, but a poorly run operation.

I went to this place for the first time in early March because I had read very positive Unilocal reviews and I was shopping around for a new dentist.
I was rather impressed on my first visit, with expert cleaning by Jan and the nice environment. Then things went downhill from there when they recommended a new crown, charged me $ 780 beyond the insurance and made me pay the entire amount in advance despite my appointment being 2 weeks away. That same afternoon after looking at the old crown myself and realizing it was still in great condition, I asked to cancel that procedure and just proceed with the fillings I required, which were mostly covered by insurance.
IT TOOK 9 WEEKS to get my money back despite repeated phone calls and personal visits. Laura the office manager is completely neglectful at responding to even urgent messages. Such a shame because the individual dentists are quite nice. I have even taken my mother there and the same thing has happened, they have collected the entire amount of her procedures 1 month in advance. I have to find a new place in or around Pasadena, any suggestions Unilocal friends?

NOW CALLED PREMIER CARE DENTAL… STAY AWAY!
If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in because it was under my insurance (I had not looked at Unilocal reviews). I came in and the dentist was very nice, however the people handling the finances and insurance are racking up charges without explanation. For 2 root canals, I saw with my own eyes as she entered the codes that it came to over $ 12,000! Then she applied my insurance and it went down to over $ 5000! This is still ridiculous. They also do not let you do part of a procedure (such as the root canal without the crown) to maybe get the cost down.
Then they tried to make it seem like I was a problem patient, for what? Questioning the amount of money that would come out of my own pocket?
I tried giving it a chance because a friend’s brother works there but the issue in this place is not the dentist or his assistants. The issue is on the business side. Horrible, horrible place!

Do NOT TRUST THIS PLACE, they make you prepay and try to get you NOT to use your insurance. They made me prepay for a bone graft explaining that if the dentist, Dr. Bassem Farid determines I don’t need it. i will be refunded. Dr. Farid said I didn’t need the graft and said no Problem, I would be refunded. That was in December. Laura the finance «manager» is only trying to sell you services you do not need and will return your calls unless you are giving them money.

I agree with the other negative reviews. They were okay on cleaning, etc and pretty convenient to my workplace at the time. However, at some point it felt like they were trying to hustle me to get procedures that were not necessary «because my insurance covered it». Really? In discussing the procedure with the woman that was eager to get my credit card (before I saw the dentist), I expressed some reservations because I did not feel that she was explaining the component parts of the various charges that were being racked up (much of it NOT covered by my insurance). She then dragged a dentist into the room to explain why I needed the procedure and what I was being charged for. By this time I had my antenna up and the whole thing was starting to feel squirrely. So I told them I’d like to research the procedure and get back to them. That made the financial lady a little frantic and she tried to guilt me into going ahead because «I had made the appointment and the time had been scheduled» … Again… Really?
I never went back. Found a new dentist. This one has left a bad taste in my mouth (HA!) and I have warned others away.

I guess all the negative reviews got to them… because they have changed their name.
They now call themselves Premier Care Dental Group.
Same horrible staff… different name.

Horrible experience ever, especially since it’s a dentist! Who doesn’t dread coming to the dentist. I thought it would be different from others, I was wrong! They tried to bill my husband and I for things they didn’t even do and allegedly our insurance didn’t cover it but yet we have the best insurance. Insurance that the main dentist even has. BS!!! BS ALL AROUND!!! Don’t come here, you will regret it and not be covered from another service provider for a long time period! The receptionists are illiterate and the worst front desk I’ve had ever had to deal with! Worst of all, they charge you for EVERYTHING!!!

I booked my appointment blindly — I didn’t do research prior and I just picked up the phone and called because this was the dentist my insurance gave me. The girl on the phone was very friendly, the conversation was brief and she gave me an 8:30AM appointment for the next day. Now if I have researched on Unilocal before I booked my appointment, I would have never set foot in this clinic. Reviews are definitely scary. But I never got a chance to look at Unilocal until I was already sitting in the dentist chair waiting for the dentist — you can imagine my horror. It’s like a point of no return.
Let me go through the good points and bad points.
1) Tons of parking — 2 hours free
2) I do not know why the other reviews are complaining but the staff were definitely really, really, nice. Very welcoming and professional.
3) I didn’t have to wait long. After all that was done, I was out in 2 hours (x-​rays, advising, cleaning, etc.) I only came in for a check up. Nothing was wrong or hurting.
4) After I filled paperwork, I was led into an office and was then asked to bite on strips of whatever that was — it turns out it was for the x-​ray. I do agree with the bad reviews. They just kind of put you in there with no choice, not asking you anything or telling you what it’s for, and definitely not saying that it would cost you money. Now I’m torn about this because I’ve done a lot of medical check-​ups before and not one of them would tell you that what they’re doing would cost you something. But then again, I think they should.
5) After the x-​ray, a dentist talked to me about the findings. Told me which procedures needed to be done. They wanted to take out my wisdom tooth since it already started showing up. But my wisdom tooth doesn’t hurt at all, so I told her I’d probably think about it and just do it at a later time.
6) Dentist examined my teeth with the colored camera thing.
7) I was x-ray’d again (they said for the wisdom tooth), but this time standing up with one of those machines that just go around your face.
All those times, I wasn’t told if I was going to pay anything for what they have been doing. After all that was done, they brought me into this office where they said we would talk about co-​pay. Yknow, the fun stuff.
They laid out the figures in front of me and then I saw that everything they have been doing costed a lot of money. I believe the x-​rays were $ 150, the other x-​ray (for the wisdom tooth) was another $ 150. The cleaning was $ 130. But thank God I have really good insurance (Golden West Dental and Vision — PA 100) because all of that was covered. They also gave me estimates for the fillings and wisdom tooth extraction. The figures didn’t look so bad at first (I think all came down to $ 1,080 copay) but when I looked at my insurance’s coverage, I think it should be a lot less than that.
They were a little persistent about the bleaching (they even offered the discounted rate) but that’s nothing out of the ordinary and definitely not to a point of annoyance.
Would I go back again? Sure, after 6 months maybe, for the cleaning. Will I do the surgeries? Probably not without a second opinion and draft of fees from another clinic.
Bottomline, I think before going into a clinic, you should know first what your insurance covers and ask a lot about every step they’re gonna do and how much you’re supposed to pay for it.

I made a very big mistake by not reading reviews on Unilocal first. My husband has excellent insurance and it pretty much pays 90% of dental fees. I called my insurance first to see if this place was in-​network and they were, which means that when the dentist is in-​network with your plan the prices are much lower then if they were not in-​network.
I scheduled an appointment for my husband to go in for a cleaning and check-​up and I made an appointment for me the following week. He came home with a blue folder filled with a bunch of useless information, there was no itemized receipt on what we are paying for, just a receipt that said cash paid,??? that’s shady, he didn’t even have work done yet and already asked to pay everything up front, this is the work that needed to be done:
Four wisdom teeth extraction & sedation, deep cleaning, and 7 cavity fillings. Our out of the pocket after insurance was $ 900. Get this, our insurance covers 90% of these procedures which means they are telling us that these procedures cost $ 8,000, is this a joke? Are they giving us a used car along with the dental work?
I went in for my appointment early and they gave me a stack of paperwork to fill out, and I didn’t even get a chance to finish filling it out or even read it cause they dragged me into room and just said fill it out in the room, ok — weird. My visit was to get a crown for my tooth that had a root canal, which was done by a speciality who was clear cut and dry on exactly how much was being charged, I only paid out of pocket $ 100.00, that’s about right.
They did x-​rays and suggested that I needed to get a crown for another tooth because it was cracked and also to fill in older fillings I had when I was a kid. I also asked to get an implant for a missing tooth in the back. The dentist was very nice as well as the lady who did my xrays, both very nice and informative.
They zipped thru pretty fast and told me to sit in this waiting room. Their care counselor Laura was very cheerful and pleasant when she greeted me and asked me to come into her office to discuss financials.
She had this sheet that broke down costs of everything. One column that had retail prices which totaled $ 15,438.00, she crossed that out and said that’s not what your going to pay, your out of the pocket price is $ 4,438.00. She said they would I almost fell out of my seat. She looked at me and said you can make payments of $ 333 a month. I felt like I was buying a used car.
I told her to take out the implant which was $ 3,400, so my total dropped to $ 1000 our of the pocket for two crowns, a mouth guard and 2 fillings. I wasn’t getting a good feeling about it just because she did not go over the details. I expect and have the right to know what I am paying for. I told her I could not pay for half right now, and she insisted that I must pay before services. That is another thing, my specialist didn’t even ask for payment till he finished his services.
My husband and I paid for half of the service then went home. Get this, we had already paid $ 1250 of dental work that had not even been performed yet. I think I took my stupid pill that morning to think that price was ok with great insurance. When I got home I thought about it more and more and it didn’t add up. I called around to get prices from other dentists and they were not even half as much as they were charging us.
I called to cancel our appointments and to get our money back, I spoke with Laura and she was very hesistant to cancel it and said that she would have to get a request to get our $ 400 of cash that we paid and to credit our account back. I told her that we simply can’t afford to pay $ 2000 of dental work at this time and all we would pay for out of pocket would be for the deep cleaning and the 3 fillings they did for my husband. She said that our out of pocket for the deep cleaning and fillings would be $ 299, that’s the 10% we pay, which means they are saying it costs $ 3000. When I asked her for an actual dollar amount, she said «we do percentages»
At this point my husband and I are heated not only because they are trying to rip us off, but they have done this to so many people, it’s disgusting.
We made an appoint at Dr. Ka Chun George Chew, DDS in alhambra to get my husbands wisdom tooth taken out and our out of pocket is $ 100, and just like any normal and reputable business they gave us a breakdown of what is being done and how much it’s going to cost. Plus they did not ask to pay us before the surgery, they asked to pay the day of surgery.
It took 3 weeks to get our money back but they still didn’t give us a receipt for the charges.

Worst place ever, had so many problems with the financial department.

I have always had great, personal, professional treatment here. I feel like all of the complaints about money, may be because people did not research what their insurance may cover.
I have had clear and informative answers from Carmen who is in charge of finances. I have had clear and informative discussions with all of the Doctors, dentists, assistants, and front desk EVERY single time I have gone there. While I was pregnant they were very careful with the special instructions needed to care for my teeth. I have had a a cleaning, root canal, fillings, two crowns, a mouth guard fitting and mouth guard and a crown lengthening with Dental Plus. All of which I have had great results from. I feel like every single person there has great «bedside manor.» I have never felt weird, or uncomfortable, or felt like I could never ask questions.
I have had ALOT of dental work done here. I have had ALOT of dental work done over the years in general. I am very picky about how I go to and I normally go to the really snooty yet professional places. And I REALLY like Dental Plus.
I feel like the people complaining about time need to realize that at times this happens in life. I have had to wait a little while longer before, but I have also had them call me to tell me about openings so that I may be able to come in and get my work done sooner.
As with all services you pay for especially in the medical field do your research and don’t expect the offices you go to, to walk you through holding your hand and paying for half of your work.
I would recommend Dental Plus with their quality care and professional employees at the Pasadena Location to all of my friends and I already do.

I need to make an addendum to my last post. I did find out today that I owed even more money than I thought. Even though I cant just blame them, I still feel the same. Maybe even worse.

I wish I would of looked on Unilocal before I got the wool pulled over my eyes!
I could go on an on about the horrible service that I received here but I would much rather tell you about how they are scam artist !!
DO NOT GO HERE, NOT UNLESS YOU LIKE PAYING FOR THINGS YOU DON’T NEED AND HAVE AN EXTRA $ 1,000. TO THROW AROUND!
Never mind that they took advantage of my desperate need to relieve my tooth pain, I would of signed anything at that point. That’s how they get ya… NEVER SIGN ANYTHING BEFORE YOU READ IT! When I went back in to discuss the charges all I heard was ‚” That’s your signature, right?” The office manager new I was right but kept on about how I signed everything! I could tell by the look in her face she knew it was wrong but there is nothing she could do at this point!
One other factor is the place is so dirty, every time they put me in a different room it was more disgusting than the previous ! Some rooms the facet to wash your hands didn’t work, really… with all the money they receive they could use a re vamp, but I guess when you have this many BAD REVIEWS why bother!
The only thing nice about this place are the two girls in the front of the office, and for that they get the one star… since I can’t leave 0 stars!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!

One star for dental work but a 4 star for CROOKS. I paid them $ 3,000 for a bridge and two months later I ended up with my teeth being cleaned twice, a temporary bridge (not in my mouth but in a little case) and $ 300 back. I went to another dentist and he told he my teeth had not been cleaned very well at all and my x-​rays showed I needed a root canal but in a completely different place than Dental Plus had shown. They shuffle you around, give you ridiculous dental plans (financially and diagnostically) are unprofessional and the facilities are not even very clean. Beware!
Nothing is easy at this place and they charge you dearly for your pain. I am writing this because I don’t want anyone to suffer the emotional and financial stresses this place caused.

Wow… I’m reading all these negative reviews and I can’t believe what I’m reading. I have NEVER had a bad experience at Dental Plus. A lot of these reviews talk about getting ripped off. I have to say that I’ve had just the opposite experience. In fact, the financial department has gone out of the way to help me get dental care that was affordable and within my means. I literally spent an hour with one of the financial managers and Dr. Roisman to come up with a plan of treatments that would work toward fixing my issues and NOT bankrupt me. Is it a business out to make a profit? Of course. DUH. But I truly do not believe they’re out to rip people off.
Also, to those out there who say Dental Plus has a bad rating on Better Business Bureau… you’d be wrong. They’ve been a BBB accredited business since 2009 and currently have an A+ rating.
I’ve had care from Dr. Rouhani, Dr. Roisman, Dr. Williams and other doctors for periodontics, cleanings, cavities, etc without any problems. Dr. Lee even did a same day extraction when I had an abscess. As for the technical staff, they’ve all been friendly and great about explaining what’s going on… with the exception of one woman… but I think she was not very experienced. The front office staff is always pleasant and, in fact, helped me yesterday to change the schedule so I could do two of my appts on the same day instead of having to make two separate visits.
Have I ever had to wait a long time to see the dentist/​hygienist? Sure. But it’s not any different from other «group» medical/​dental offices that I’ve experienced. More often than not, I’m taken into the treatment space within 5 – 10 minutes of my appt time. I tend to be a bit anal retentive when it comes to appointment times and will arrive 20 min early. If they can, they’ll even take me before my appt time.
I can only give my personal experience… so there it is. I really do love this place.

I have never been to the most INEFFICIENT dental office like this one. The only reason why I still go is the fact that my eye and dental insurance has somewhat of a good plan for a fair price and this is the ONLY dental office that they offer within a 30 mile vicinity of my home.
Pros:
1) Thorough work of cleaning. You don’t feel like they’re rushing to get you out and onto the next patient when the hygenist is cleaning your teeth. I haven’t encountered a bad hygenist who doesn’t care about how clean your teeth come out.
Cons:
1) Hours of operation – do they not realize that people have work? Their hours of operations are like bank hours. OK fine, if you’re going to not offer Saturdays and only a 9−5pm option during the weekdays, then at least don’t make my wait time to get my check up so long! Which segways into my 2^nd con…
2) Regular cleaning takes 2 hours. TWO HOURS?! I come into the office and there’s usually no one in the waiting room so I think to myself, «Yay, this is going to be a really quick check up then.» I get seated into a cleaning room and wait for the hygenist to come… about 15 minutes. Hygenist comes to clean my teeth… another 30 minutes. Then after she cleans my teeth, she tells me, «It looks like after your cleaning, we need to measure your gums yada yada yada because yada yada yada. I think it’s best that we take more X-​rays too since it’s been a long time since your last X-​rays.» I JUST TOOK X-​RAYS 6 MONTHS AGO. 6 months is not a long time, my adult teeth are not going to decay in 6 months. So the doctor’s assistant takes my X-​rays and I wait for the doctor to come to evaluate my X-​rays and gum measurements…1 hour. The doctor finally comes to talk to me about what’s going on with my teeth, same old same old, «Did you get your wisdom teeth pulled at the bottom? That might be why you have deep pockets in your gums at the back. yada yada yada. I can suggest a better brush that we sell here for you to use? We may also need to schedule another deep cleaning to take care of those back teeth. Let me also suggest that you get a night guard to prevent you from grinding your teeth. We also will need to take care of that filling in the back, it seems to have to been worn down from your grnding. Now let’s take you to our insurance/​finance so she can tell much you’ll need to pay.» I just felt like I went through their usual sales pitch routine. This now segways to my 3^rd con…
3) Insurance/​finance lady — Elisa? Don’t remember her name exactly but it starts with an E though. She gets her own «Con» note all by herself. You seriously need to be careful of her ripping you off. Each visit has a co-​pay so she strongly discourages you to do a couple procedures in one visit and will tell you to split it up into several visits. Ridiculous. You’re not going to gain trust from your patients if you keep trying to urge them to spend more money. Maybe Dental Plus would have better feedback from customers if they made them feel like they were being taken care of, not only with their teeth, but also with their money.
4) Inefficiency — With the very few number of patients, but an overload of dental assistants, why does it take so long for a procedure to be done? Maybe hire less dental assistants and hire more doctors. The dental assistants there are usually just twiddling their thumbs waiting for their doctors to come anyway. So for the time I came in for my regular cleaning and filling, it took 4 hours. I had to pretty much take half day off my work to see my dentist. So ridiculous. People do not have this much time to waste!!!
The only reason why I feel like I keep this Eye & Dental insurance is because of the Eye Care provider I have (they are superb). After this year is over, it’s time for me to do a bit more research to get out of his hell-​hole Dental Plus and find a new dentist.

NOTE TO SELF: Unilocal everything before going there for the 1^st time!
I am not joining in just because everyone is complaining about this place, but seriously, if NEGATIVE ratings is an option, I would give it to them!
I randomly picked this place for my oral surgery because it was the closest location to home, and I felt more comfortable with having a dentist that’s Asian. No big complaints about the customer service here, the staff were friendly and attentive, but…
During my first visit to this place, they had me filled out some forms and rushed me into the X-​Ray room. Instead of biting down on those ridculous and painful mouth piece that hurts like a @#$%, all you have to do is stand there, and the X-​Ray would revolve around you 360degrees.
— A dentist came in and looked at the X-​Ray and told me «Oh yeah, you need to get that wisdom teeth pulled»
— I was like. «Duh?! I could’ve told you that. That’s why I am here in the first place.»
— Dentist then told me: «Please go sit at the reception area, and someone would talk to you about scheduling your surgery.»
Wait… Wait… Wait… I sat there for 30+ minutes… Finally a lady showed up and escorted me to her office. Told me that my wisdom tooth extraction is going to cost me $ 500. I was like. «Wait, you know I have insurance, right?» She then told me that $ 500 is my share after insurance.,.
I informed her that I got 3 other wisdom teeth before by Asian dentist before (that were also growing sideways), and I never had to be put «under», and the cost to me without insurance was only about $ 200 each. And that arrogrant lady told me: «Then you should fly back to China and find those dentists there because we don’t take that kind of risk here in America»
I was like… WTH? I got them all done here in SGV. I was mad, and was about to walk out. Then she told me: «Regardless if you want to go forward or not with the surgery, you still have to pay $ 75 for the X-​Ray you took earlier.»
ARGH! Wished they would inform me of the charge in advance! So, since I already paid close to 20% of my wisdom tooth extraction and I don’t have time to find a new oral surgeon, so I just made an appointment for surgery the week after.
No pain during surgery because I was knocked out. But the worst part followed… It is now DAY 6 after surgery, and I can still barely move my jaw.
The swelling went down a bit since DAY 1, but my friend (that’s also a dental assistant) saw me on DAY 4 said she never seen any patient with that much swelling. They pulled my wisdom tooth on the bottom left, but the left side of my face, neck, and all the way around to the right side of my chin was swollen for 5 days! This is ridiculous!
Would NEVER NEVER go back to this place again! Not even with a gun to my head!
