I specialize in private instruction for guitar and voice. I also provide tutoring services in music theory, songwriting, and music production and recording. I work with people of all ages, so whether you’re just starting or have been playing for years, I can help you become the musician you want to be.

History

Established in 2009.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Thornton School of Music at USC in 2009, with a Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance and a minor in Recording Arts. I have taught privately and at several small music schools in the greater Los Angeles area since, in addition to performing, recording, and touring nationally.

It is my honor to write this review for my guitar teacher, Alex. I have been studying under his direction for half a year and in this time my confidence and ability for playing have considerably improved.
As a teacher myself, (high school art for seven years), I know there are many qualities required to be good in this profession and it is my belief that Alex embodies every one of them. He is extremely dedicated, patient, knowledgeable, and has exceptional musical talent. I have observed Alex reteach, reword and provide examples when I do not understand. He also gives homework and allows me to record him playing songs so I am better able to practice on my own.
Time and again I have been impressed by the incredible speed in which Alex is able to pick up a new song to teach me and the apparent ease with which he does this. Observing him learn in a matter of minutes what will take me weeks to learn is truly an impressive and inspirational trait.
Alex is a great asset to the teaching profession and I am very fortunate to be his student!

I have received ukulele and singing lessons from Alex and I think they were the most comfortable and helpful lessons I have ever had. His patience and skills made me feel very positive about learning a new instrument. I was taking separate voice lessons at the time I began with Alex, but his wide understanding of music made me feel like I could learn everything I ever needed to from him. He’s so friendly too!
