It was good. Had better. Asked what the specialty of the house was and they said rotisserie chicken. It was good but I’ve definitely had better.

My husband and I wanted takeout but bored of all the options. We came across Tinos on Unilocal.Reviews seemed good so we gave it a shot! It is delicious! I ordered the skirt steak and my husband ordered the strip. Both come with vegetables and potatoes in huge trays! 1 portion can easily feed 2! Prices are a little expensive for take out but so worth it. Quality and service were great. Will definitely be coming back.

The food here is excellent. I typically order from here 2x a week and have never been disappointed by the food. My favorite is their blackened chicken, pair that with some of their delicious yellow rice and you have a great meal. Speaking of which, you get a ton of food for the money here so you can eat well for a great price. The chicken entrée is easily enough for 2 people possibly 3 for only $ 13!

I’ve ordered from Tino’s many times over the years. Never had a bad experience. Food is always made to order and reasonably priced. And like most Portuguese places, large portions Ha

This is a tiny little spot that looks like a hole-in-the-wall from outside. GOINSIDE. Walking in, you’re greeted with a smile by a young man whom I can only assume is part of the owner’s family. He is a little bit young, but more polite than 75% of the adults I’ve ever met. He takes orders with great accuracy, rings you up efficiently, and if you’re ordering take-out, which I often do, you can have a seat and he’s very attentive in letting you know when the food is almost done. Don’t worry, he’s not alone there, you can see other family members cooking and working behind him. Some people may think it’s strange, but it’s a family business and the young man is charming. This spot has become a favorite and we come often. Now, let’s move onto the food. AMAZING. The rice and vegetables are huge portions and not just steamed, they’re so flavorful, absolutely delicious. We usually get a Chicken/Ribs combo, which feeds the 2 of us for 2 days. We ask to substitute the pork ribs for beef ribs, there is a small extra charge but very worth it. The chicken is cooked perfectly, I love the seasonings. The beef ribs are cooked well, there is no pink, but it never seems burnt or overcooked. This right here is the beauty of Portuguese BBQ. The prices here are very fair for what you get. I’ll be back very soon!

Just happened to being looking for lunch in the area and saw Tino’s on Unilocal. It definitely doesn’t look like much on the outside, but don’t let that stop you! I had a BBQ chicken sandwich that reminded my of home, the south! My wife had a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and of course I had to try it haha. The salad was as good as any other salad, but the shrimp made the salad. You’ve definitely got to give it a try!

Delicious food. Love the hot sausage(chorizo) Love all the meat combinations. My girl friend is a big fan of their garlic shrimp. I love the ribs! Must try… they have always delivered for me to Morris Plains which is awesome when you don’t feel like going out. Always on the money… always hot. Must try.

All men of a certain age succumb to the roadside barbecue myth. Those of us who became proficient at sniffing out good Q in our twenties spend the rest of our lives chasing phantasms of mouth-watering charcuterie dished up in tiny, serendipitously discovered roadside dumps by fourth-generation barbecue cooks. And why? Because it happened to us once, or twice, and we spend decades trying to recapture the high — like junkies. So I felt the tingle again when I drove past Tino’s in Parsippany. It’s in a strip mall(check) and it looks kind of rundown(check) and people driving beat-up cars come and go from the impossibly organized lot(check) with brown bags held half-covertly under their arms(check). I was prepared for the best. Not so. First, this is not a classic North American barbecue joint. It’s a small and dingy Portuguese restaurant. If you’re looking for long-simmering meat dishes slathered with sauces which are thick with peppery molho de piri-piri then navigate your way into this strangely shaped parking lot off of Littleton Road and knock yourself out. This is NOT a traditional US of A barbecue joint. It is, instead, a local Portuguese restaurant that sells Sumol pineapple soda and features raucous arguments about soccer and politics. My «pulled pork» sandwich was passable, at best, and laden with heat — so much, in fact, that I could barely taste the pork beneath the layer of brown sauce that clung to everything on my plate. The french fries were stellar(which is why I gave them two stars rather than one) and the hand-cut cole slaw was okay but nothing to write home about. And now for the strangest part of all: They gave me a stack of non-absorbent napkins with my saucy platter. The paper was almost waxen to the touch. The tracks of my «barbecue» sauce slid across my napkins whenever I tried to wipe my hands and face with them. Really? I’m sure that Tino’s is a very good little Portuguese restaurant but it’s not your fantasy roadside BBQ hideout, by any stretch of the imagination…

Spare Rib Lunch Platter(½ rack) I got about 3 properly sized spare ribs and 3 chunks of bony, grizzly burnt end pieces. The ribs tasted OK, a little salty but not overwhelming. The meat lacked any hint of smoke flavor. Most Portuguese BBQ I’ve eaten were cooked on a gas grill but a few pieces of wood were thrown in to give it a little flavor. Not so that I could tell here. French fries were extremely soggy. Rice plain but ok. Sauces wear pretty good, one was a thin hot sauce and the other was a thicker sauce comparable to a Kansas style BBQ sauce. Bread slices were amazing! I’d go back just for some more of it. Ribs — 3 Star Fries — 1 Star Yellow Rice — 3 Star Sauce — 3 Star Bread — 5 Star

So happy I didn’t have to drive all the way to the Ironbound to get my Portuguese fix. I like the small family atmosphere and I really enjoy the menu and the Brazilian and Portuguese soda. Not a bad place.

This is a great spot and well hidden! I’ve been through Parsippany MANY times and never knew of this place until a group of us decided to try a new spot. We happened to stumble upon it… GREAT portion sizes for the money. Lunch portions were very generous. The BBQ chicken, skirt steak and pork chops were all a big hit(only complaint was the BBQ sauce served w/the chicken.) Everything else is so good, it’s a shame it served with Sweet Baby Rays… Por que? Common guys! Bring out an authentic Portugese sauce for the chicken. Otherwise, this place is a keeper.

This was my first time going to Tino’s due to my office relocating to the area and I must say I was definitely impressed. I ordered a half order of the skirt steak which came with potatoes, mixed veggies and fresh bread. The steak was prepared EXACTLY how I wanted it and was defintely tasty and the veggies were fresh. Not only was the food good but the service was great as well. I got a little turned around and called twice and both times was given directions without any problems. This is a nice hidden gem.(I only wish they had a website as that would certainly get them more business) I would recommend this place to anyone who likes to support local businesses who provide good food and service.

Dry chicken. Tasteless ribs and more bad rice then I knew what to do with. Thank god it was on cheap side because it made me sick just smelling it eating was no better.

My girlfriend, who lives in the area, recommended Tino’s & it was great the first time I ate. It was so good I made them my Friday treat until that day I received some greasy«homemade» fries. This same day, the chicken was cooked beyond done… it was sooo dry and flavorless. I thought maybe because I didn’t see the owner it was just a bad day, so I went back. Again, they served me those greasy fries, but this time, the chicken was not done. Since then, Tino’s has not been the same for me. I had even recommended the chicken to my co-workers who decided to test other menu items; they were also disappointed.

I’ve been on a bit of a BBQ roll lately and I’d been curious about Tino’s for some time. I was told I’d be pleasantly surprised, but it would be very different than most BBQ places… And it was. I work near the Ironbound in Newark so I’ve had my share of Portuguese and Tino’s matches up with the middle of the road places I’ve eaten in over the past few years. We ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce appetizer and got a combo for our meal(ribs, skirt steak, chicken, shredded pork, short ribs, rice, and veggies). You get A LOT of food for your money, so be hungry or have room in the fridge. The food was good, but not outstanding. Shrimp was excellent, but on the small side. Skirt steak was an excellent portion, but a little dry– same with the chicken. I wanted to love this place, but it didn’t reach that standard. Great menu options, service was a little slow, and the TASTE just didn’t warrant a 4-star Unilocal rating. I may try them again… but only in a pinch. Too bad…

We stopped by here last week to pick up some grub. I was in the mood for baby back ribs and looked this up on Unilocal.I’ve also passed by this restaurant and was always curious. This place is great! We ordered the Chorizo appetizer. It was nicely grilled and it tasted so good. Hubby opted for the skirt steak entrée with potatoes and rice and I totally eyeballed the short rib entrée that came with potatoes and grilled veggies. The portions are humongo and everything was so yummy. The short ribs were a little dry compared to the skirt steak but it still tasted great in my book. I love how it was prepared. So yummilicious. And I didn’t think I would liked the grilled veggies but they were my favorite. I snarfed those buggers down. So good! We will defintely come back to try everything else on the expansive menu. We were also eyeing the desserts in the fridge — rice pudding and flan. I also spotted portuguese custard tarts in the back of the fridge but I wasn’t sure if those were being sold because I didn’t see it on the menu. We’ve also tried the other Portuguese grill in the area but I must say I totally prefer Tino’s not only because of the quality, but also because they are closer and they also deliver! Friendly owner and the restaurant looks nice and clean. It’s definitely not one of those high class establishments but it looks okay. I totally recommend. They do catering too!
