Parker Heating and Air, Inc.

We had Parker Heating and Air come in for maintenance of our HVAC/​water heater, in addition they installed a whole house humidifier and an electrostatic air filter (and other items totaling about $ 5,000 worth of services). We believe our service was a failure and they have cost us significantly to correct the mistakes they made.
After doing maintenance on our water heater, they stated there were no issues and it had a few more years left in it (due to sediment at the bottom.) After the maintenance was performed, our pressure release valve was broken. The valve should have been tested, adjusted, etc. while performing the service, I did not immediately recognize the problem, because the 50 gal tank has to refill before showing the failure. Thereafter, water drained from our tank constantly for a month. They told me, it could not be repaired and the heater will have to be replaced.
The fan powered humidifier was not installed correctly, they did not connect the electricity to it, leaving an electric wire, not capped, in my house (next to our gas furnace and gas water heater.) The water just flowed through the humidifier non-​stop for a month, never rising the humidity in our house (therefore never turning off). The electrostatic air filter had faulty wiring too, the wiring caps were haphazardly attached and one had fallen off after the service.
Between these items, our water usage went to 18,109 gal for the month of January, in December and November it was under 5,000 gal (all of these issues happened after they came to our house, proven by our water bill).
The advisor listed off excuses and stated that our water heater failing, immediately after they did maintenance, is a coincidence and stated «if you take your car into tires plus and the brakes need to be replaced afterwards, would you blame them?» this must be the standard excuse for the company (since this was posted in previous reviews). They begrudgingly fixed the sloppy mistakes on the humidifier and filter, including wiring the electricity to the humidifier, rewiring the filter, and wiring the humidity sensors that they forgot to install in the first place. This was after going to get a new humidifier because they thought the original one was defective, not poorly installed.
We had a significant water bill and in our opinion there was a potential that our family’s safety was at risk, due to poor wiring of electricity right next to gas appliances.
We went with another company to replace the water heater, there was no way I was going to trust them with our gas line since they could not install a simple humidifier or electric air filter correctly, in addition to the attitude we received. We probably ended up paying more for another company to replace our water heater, but I am confident my house will not blow up due to clumsy installations and they will probably stand by the work they perform. Additionally, they inspected and corrected some of the errors Parker Heating and Air made.
It is possible that our water heater broke the month they did maintenance on it; but due to the poor job with the humidifier and filter, I don’t see this as a fluke, they botched our service, and the agent did nothing to make it right. I wrote an email to the owner, giving him the opportunity to make this right prior to posting this review, while not required, I did not receive a response.
If you are considering this company, I would think twice. They sell really good products, top of line equipment, but, they do not stand by their work, and sloppy installs could be very costly and put your family at risk.

Fantastic service and very professional!!! These guys, Dan adn Jason, went out of their way on a Friday afternoon to get the necessary part for my furnace and get it installed late in the afternoon. Could not ask for better guys to fix a problem. Thanks!!!

Paul was a very delightful young man and really knows his business. He spent an hour completely checking out the furnace. He cleaned it and put in new filters. He adjusted the humidifier and I feel confident in being warm and comfortable this winter. In the spring Parker Heating and Air will come back and clean and check out the outdoor air conditioner unit. I am good on all levels. It’s a great package to have.

I have been thrilled with my experience with Parker Heating & Air. They installed a Reme system for us to clean our air. It was completely worth it and reasonably priced. The office staff including the owner are incredibly professional and polite.

Can’t be more disappointed with the owner. He badmouthed other competitors, claimed they were more reputable so he could charge more on his products and services. But what he has done so far is nothing close to reputable. And now even lied to BBB?! Shame on you Rick! What else would you do next to steal people’s money? Is it really worth doing these for a few hundred dollars?

I just had an AC issue and they dispatched Jason the next morning. He came on time, was professional, diagnosed, and repaired quickly. I was very pleased and will request him for all future issues.

I have never been more dissatisfied with a company! A tech from the company came out first thing in the morning to look at our a/​c unit. I called for service because the unit wasn’t cooling the upstairs of my home and I did not think the fan in the unit was moving. The tech said the capacitor need to be replaced. He replaced it and went onto his next appointment. In the past the tech’s usually stay to make sure that the ac is actually cooling and do a temp. reading. 45 minutes later I went upstairs to see if it was cooling down, it felt like I had my heater on. It went from 77 degrees to 82 in 45 minutes. So I call main number again, only to be told that the tech had to call me before they could put me back on the schedule… huh??? Two hours later the tech arrives, no phone or text, lucky I was home and said he would look at the unit again. A few minutes later he appears at my door to tell me, «some really bad news» that my compressor stopped and I would need a whole new ac unit to the tune of $ 3,500-$ 4,500. I was a little bit shocked but we live in an older home, so I have been expecting replace the unit in a few years. I always get a second opinion, so I had MR. FIX IT ($ 30 service call) come out that afternoon. I did not tell the tech what was going on, only that the unit wasn’t cooling outside. He looked at the unit and the first thing he asked was if I had recently had any work done to it. So I came clean and told him that another company had replaced the capacitor that morning. He laughed and said, «well they hooked up the wrong wire, which caused hot air to blow into your house. A rookie mistake. Your lucky that I caught it or the whole compressor would have burned out and you would need an new unit». At that point I told him the whole story and he said, no the compressor is fine and I probably just need refrigerant in the unit. Long story short he got the system up and running and within an hour the temperature started to drop. The tech stayed an hour, checking the temperature, looking at the filters and air ducts to make sure everything was working okay. After he left I called Parker Air and asked to speak with a supervisor and was told «all were busy at the time and they would have to call me back». Two hours later I received a call from Rick, he was short on the phone and asked what was going on. I told him the story and he asked me if I had taken pictures of the wire the other tech had found, I said no and he said how do we know that the other tech did not switch the wires. Seriously? I then went on to tell him that he also said that I needed a whole new unit. His reply was, «it is really hot out there and the guys are overworked»…my appointment was first thing in the morning, not hot and no previous appointments. He asked what I wanted and I said to be reimbursed for the service call and capacitor. Rick said that he would look at the capacitor when the tech came in that evening and if indeed it was fine and did not need replacing he would call me that evening and return my money. No call that evening, around 11:30 the next morning one of the girls from the office called and said that all my money was being refunded from yesterday. No explanation as to what had happened. I feel taken advantage of and thank goodness I had enough sense to call for a second opinion! BE AWARE THAT EVEN IF THE TECH SAYS HE UNIT IS FIXED HE MIGHT HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO IT TO MAKE IT WORSE AND TO CAUSE MULTIPLE TRIPS AND SERVICE COSTS! Really thinking about reporting them to the Better Business Bureau!

I personally had Shawn come out to rectify my AC issue which precluded it from working. To say he was excellent on every front seems insufficient but nevertheless entirely true… from customer service, honesty, made multiple trips, professional, knowledgeable, and competent. It was so refreshing after having had less than satisfactory experiences with other companies and/​or employees associated with those companies. I cannot recall the name of the initial office person I worked with but she went out of her way as well. She got someone in within 24 hours as I was headed into surgery and needed it rectified before hand without additional financial burden. Thank you Parker Heating and Air for caring enough about your reputation that you took the time to hire Shawn and the front office person who helped me… I will be referring not only your company but especially because of the employees who represented you specifically.

Parker Heating and Air has been to my house many times because I have an old crappy furnace. The same unit that the builder put in, and it’s about at the end of it’s life. Everyone who comes is always very helpful and professional. I never feel like I am getting scammed. They always arrive when they say they will, and their fees are commensurate with their level of service. I highly recommend them.

Yearly furnace tune-​up. Timely and professional. Gave us a fair assessment of the state of the furnace. Grayson was really nice and took the time to show me the different areas of the furnace, what they do, and what each part costs to replace.

I had a dead furnace. They spent a long time and practically took it all apart to try to solve issue. They found a crack in the heat exchange block on a 20 year old furnace in addition to the gas release valve being dead. Time for a new furnace. They were $ 20 more than the next company to come out to the house, but they got there right away since I was without heat during a cold spell.
I would have liked to have purchased a new furnace from them. Unfortunately they were 20% more than the one other company I had come out and bid.

Overall, I didn’t get a good feeling about this transaction.
We have a humidifier that has been having issues and I called Parker Heating and Air. They have a good rating with the Better Business Bureau.
The man who arrived, Richard, was friendly, which I appreciated, but he seemed fake friendly. He seemed to be making too much of an effort to chit-​chat. It seemed insincere.
I had been informed that there would be a trip charge, just to come to my home, and that was reasonable to me.
I told him about our humidifier issue and showed him where it was. He did spend a good amount of time testing various things and seemed conscientious in his efforts. I had cleaned that portion of our basement so that he’d have a lot of room to work, and I’d brought down some extra lamps so that he could see well because it tends to be dark there. I was a bit offended when he said to me «Thank your husband for bringing the lights down.» I replied that I was the one who brought the lights down.
Richard told me that the type of humidifier we had was good and he mentioned why. He also mentioned that a new one would cost about $ 1500. I was not told if that included installation or not.
After a while, he came and told me about a part that was broken on our humidifier. He didn’t address whether or not ordering a replacement would be an option. He said the only solution would be to install a completely new humidifier. He didn’t give me a chance to tell him that that’s out of the question because there’s no money in our budget for that. He was on his phone quickly and talking to his office to schedule someone to come out and give me a quote for a price for a brand new humidifier.
He looked at me and said, rather than asked, «Does tomorrow work for you» but I didn’t have a chance to look at my calendar. He just quickly told whomever was on the phone that they could come out the next day and give me a cost estimate. Then, he quickly got off the phone and said goodbye. I imagine that he was in a hurry because there was no more money to be earned, but he didn’t give me any chances to say that there was no point in a cost estimate because there was no way I could afford a new humidifier. He ran out the door. I had to call Parker Heating and Air back and cancel the appointment for a cost estimate on my own.
I looked into if the broken part could be replaced and it’s hundreds of dollars, but still less than a new humidifier. I’ve been able to get the humidifier working on my own. I have to manually turn it off and on because the switch that controls the fan is broken, but this solution is far less expensive than replacing the whole system.

I called these folks a couple of years ago for a problem we were having with our furnace. We had called the company that installed it previously, they had come out and basically did nothing to fix it. The problem never went away.
So, I called Parker Heating and Air. The guy who came out was very knowledgeable, didn’t give up until he found the actual cause, fixed it and showed me how to do the same in the future. He was very helpful and the price was fair.
I’m here on Unilocal again just to find their phone number so I can have them do some other work for me. Recommended!

With the seasons changing, I had a little trouble getting my heat to work already. I thought the thermostat was acting up, but apparently it was a symptom of a bigger problem. I called Parker Heating and Air Conditioning on a Saturday in the afternoon and was told they were on after hours support. I was told they would call me back first thing the next morning to schedule an appointment if I wanted to avoid the extra cost of paying after hours.
I decided to wait, and they did call me first thing in the morning. I only wish I would have been told on Saturday when I spoke to them that they consider coming by for an appointment after 4 PM an afterhours support because what ended up happening is that I could not make it home until 6 PM. So, even though I waited a day, I still had to pay the afterhours cost.
Anyways, the technician was very thorough and pleasant, and figured out what our issue was, actually diagnosed it rather than just recommend we replace everything. I would call this company again and recommend them to a neighbor. I actually called them over another company because I saw their truck at my neighbor’s house recently.
After fixing the problem I did have them install a new thermostat anyways, because we wanted to. Though, I could probably have done it myself I figured I’d rather have the assurance that it was done properly. The cost on that was little astronomical, but everything else was reasonable for my repair.
