Tried to go on 3÷22÷12 but it looked like it had been close for some time. A sign on the door said«closed for off season». I thought March was peak time here? We came here last year and it was great. Unfortunately no Yamato this time around. We ended up going to Oishi

The best Japanese restaurant in Utah. Sashimi plate had the freshest fish, and the fava bean tempura was seasoned just right. For dessert, we got a watermelon cooler, a refreshing palate cleanser after a protein-rich meal. Chef Tosh treated us so well. Delicious!

Being an unbelievably devoted Park City vacationer since age 2, my family and I have always carved out 1 – 2 nights to stuff our faces with the valley’s best sushi around. One evening this year, we drove, like every year, to Blind Dog Sushi… where we were surprised to see that the establishment was no longer in its original location and Yamato had taken its place.(see blind dog review for more info)…We ended up eating at Yamato a few nights later and were absolutely pleased with the experience. Blind Dog had moved to a different location and unfortunatly, with its new location came a downgrade in quality and left something to be desired. That something was quenched by Yamato. We ordered 4 rolls, all unique in flavor and texture. Service was a bit slow despite the restaurant being pretty empty. If you’re looking for Park City Sushi… YAMATO is top notch.

During our Park City vacation, we decided to have Japanese/Sushi one night. After taking a look at Unilocal(Sushi Maru and Oishi Sushi Bar & Grill), I decided to try Yamato. Of the six of us, only my nephew and I enjoyed our food. We got the tempura dinners. One with udon and one with rice. Mine came with 3 pieces of shrimp and about 7 – 8 veggies. The batter was very light and good. The restaurant is very pricey. My tempura dinner was $ 24(and a bowl of white rice is $ 4!) and in Los Angeles it would be half price. The other people in our party weren’t as happy with their sushi. They ordered rolls and complained that there was barely any fish in them. My sister didn’t like the sushi rice either. Thus, the restaurant gets 3 stars. It is very nicely decorated inside the restaurant and the staff was friendly and courteous. Service was good as well. Please see my pictures. TIP: Don’t eat sushi in Park City, UT. Xie Xie!

Where does a lone Jewish chick head on Christmas Eve? Being that I’m the epitome of a stereotype(and enjoy redundancy), the clear answer is… to an Asian restaurant! Having just moved to Park City, I weighed my options carefully before choosing Yamato. A Christmas meal is a major decision in every young Jew’s life. Ultimately, after reading extremely positive reviews online(and debating between Yamato and Yuki Arashi), I decided to give it a shot. For those of you who have read my other reviews, you know what a pain I am to please. I was seated at the lovely sushi bar, and immediately assisted by one of the sushi chefs.(Did I mention he was super cute?) The menu is extensive, and I was indecisive. But, he was totally patient with me, and even made suggestions based on my palette. Ultimately I chose the poki tuna appetizer and the Volcano Roll. The poki tuna was fabulous. The salt, chili pepper, and sesame oil complimented one another better than red lipstick on Jessica Rabbit. And, the quality of tuna was shockingly good for a land-locked state. Now, the Volcano Roll — that’s a completely different story. It was so orgasmically good that I blushed after the first bite. I am not exaggerating, I actually did turn red in the face. Let me tell you, it was an anti-climactic moment when I cleaned my plate to say the least. Maybe I should have ordered another Kirin after? I’ve been back since, and while I’ve stuck to the sushi bar thus far(even a month later I’m still trying to flirt with that same sushi chef), I look forward to trying any of their kitchen entrees. Just writing this makes me want to head over there, and order the Sunomono Cucumber Salad with Octopus. Yum! Also, did I mention that they offer 50% off sushi rolls at lunch? It’s a steal. Great service, better food, and solid prices — well, for Park City.
