Sanctuary Resort On Camelback Mountain

I don’t have enough space or time to say all of the great things I would need to say to do this place justice, but I’ll try.
My husband and I drove to Scottsdale from LA, and we spent Weds-​Sunday in one of Sanctuary’s Mountain Suites. We work a ton and this was a much-​needed getaway. We left on Sunday feeling more relaxed than any time I can remember.
The suite was perfect. Spacious, well appointed, nicely laid out, QUIET, comfortable, well air conditioned… just amazing. We enjoyed room service breakfast each morning on our smaller balcony and cocktails each evening on our chaises on the other larger balcony. Loved the evening turn down service. You come back to your room to tea lights lit everywhere, so relaxing and romantic.
The grounds are amazing. So rich with color and very well maintained. You will see bunnies hopping around, all kinds of lizards and birds… just stunning. The sunsets from any point on the property are stellar. There are these awesome sculptures everywhere you wander, so make sure to really take in all of the property when you visit.
Staff is fabulous, especially Andy the bellhop who generously gave of his time to tell us about restaurants and other must see things, and who always had a very cheerful greeting for us, remembered our names every time he saw us, etc and Jerome at the front desk. He was so welcoming and informative. But everyone is great.
Jade Bar offers terrific live music (group called Ferrari one of the nights was one of the best lounge acts I’ve ever heard). Drinks and service in Jade are great. Appetizers are nice portions and well priced.
Elements is one of the best restaurants we’ve ever enjoyed but I’ll review that separately.
The pool area is just the right size and was very quiet and peaceful. They did a great job of laying out that space and best of all, there were no kids splashing around and making noise. The wait staff is very attentive and the area is in a constant state of perfect cleanliness and tidiness. Loved it.
I was so sad to leave this place, so now I need to plot our next get away.

I arrived Friday June 10. We were pleasantly greeted by the valet. The hotel is located directly at camelback mountain. Red rock canyons, palm trees, and a beautiful desert surrounding. We were checked in and golf carted to our beautiful casita. We settled in and decided to meet my friend at the Element restaurant. There was a live band and a room full of patrons. We were seated and given last call for food. My friend and I were so hungry we decided to order food. I ordered a jade burger and requested it to be bunless, without the miso mustard and the cheese and to be replaced with Dijon mustard and goat cheese. Goat cheese was not an option and neither was Dijon. It came along as a lettuce wrap burger and side salad instead of the fries. The burger was great… Except I was disappointed about the goat cheese and Dijon. I decided to speak further about my eating habits. My special requests could be fulfilled by asking although it took a few attempts to eventually get things as I requested can. I did have a few ups and downs with the food service. One time almond milk was available another time it was out of stock. I actually went to the store to buy almond milk to give to the kitchen to hold on for me. I follow the paleo diet and it can be a tad bit frustrating when my expectations aren’t being met but they did include notes on my profile to help fulfill my expectations. The staff was friendly and did everything possible. The spa was wonderful. I had a therapeutic sports massage with Damon. I also had a coconut exfoliation treatment the second day. It was a great option for me since I was planning to tan.
If there was no problem with the food service I would of given 5 stars but the knowledge of other options from staff to customer was limited.
I plan to visit Phoenix again! I hope my next stay will be more accommodating.

We LOVED our stay here. With that said we also had a suite and a kick ass view (which I think most have good views) but I’m talking… it (the suite) literally made the trip to get up and be directly by the sunrise and just to have such a great space to move around in. Turned out the living space was worth it just because when we wanted to relax or when my partner had to work we were able to have our own spaces. Bathtub and shower were EVERYthing, I took a bath everyday, & bed was so comfy it was perfect. Room service was delicious. Staff were attentive. Get the calamari at Jade Bar. All drinks were great but after 4 or 5, aren’t they all great? Honestly, we had the same server in Jade every night and thanks to alcohol I can’t for the life of me remember her name & we didn’t take receipts. She has very short hair and she was so beautiful and just a joy to dine with! I will email Sanctuary to find out her name. (Update) her name was Julie Anderson! We also loved Revy by the pool. He was fun and attentive and just laid back. This is a luxury resort but we are just chill people who enjoy spending money but we like to be relaxed and not feel so catered to that we can’t function, he was just cool and casual but never left us needing anything. Perfect atmosphere. Only negative for us was the AM pool staff. The times drink service were supposed to start never really seemed to be the case and many mornings we were still waiting for towels and what have you around 10 or later. I would eventually get them but everyone there before 11 that puts out towels and sets up just seemed to really hate their life LOL… which is fine because they probably partied too hard the night before and we really didn’t care because we are so chill… but they were just kind of energy zapping so we stopped going so early because they were dragging around looking miserable and we just like to keep our zen and happiness rolling. Other than that, concierge, door-​men, EVERYthing was awesome and coming back to the area, we wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else. Just upgrade your room and get the suite, you’ll thank me later!

The absolute perfect stay! Service was stellar!!! Every employee, every amenity, every second at the property was perfection! Love the texting! Far exceeded expectations in every way! Can’t wait to go back!

We came to the Sanctuary for a wedding. It was our first hotel stay with an infant, and were really impressed with both the accomodations and level of service. Although it is a bit steep getting around with a stroller, staff were helpful whenever possible to give us a lift on one of the many golf carts. Stylish rooms, totally comfortable. Great room service, and truly excellent housekeeping staff. We’ll be back.

We drove to this bar on a recommendation from a friend. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and there was a live band and happy hour specials. Wines were half off and you could take the bottle home! I’ve never heard of that so I would’ve LOVED to take advantage of it, but my friend likes reds and I prefer whites so we ended up ordering our own drinks.
The view is great, the service was good and it was a nice atmosphere.

My fiancé desperately wanted to watch the sunset somewhere and I wanted to celebrate officially picking a wedding date/​venue! So, of course, I immediately thought of Sanctuary because of their gorgeous views and delish cocktails. We walked in through the lobby entrance and stepped out to the Elements balcony where a nice man handed us a glass of {complimentary} champagne and said «Here is a toast to the sunset!» Ummmm, WHAT?! Our day, wait month, was literally made! How did he know that was what we came there for? He literally read our minds. Now folks, THAT is world class service!
After enjoying the delicious glass of champagne, we walked over to Jade Bar where we had yummy HH cocktails and some chips & guac to tie us over until dinner.
Guys, if you’re looking to knock the socks off of your significant other, take her HERE! …Even just for drinks! They are about $ 12-​$ 14 not on HH but on HH, they range from $ 7-​$ 9. Happy Hour goes until 6 PM. The views are insane and the service is impeccable. We’ll be back soon for sure. (Shhh, don’t tell but i’m also a HUGE fan of their spa!)

I adore Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort. Tucked away in a secluded area with the most breathtaking views all around, it’s easy to understand why this place is sought after for special occasions.
Spa services were excellent! Therapists and staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Love the amenities and variety of snacks/​drinks they provide while you wait for your service to start.
Though Elements is just steps away from your casita, they also offer IRD ($ 3 service charge and automatic 20% gratuity). Executive Chef is Beau Macmillan! AMAZING AMAZING AH-​MAZING FOOD.
They also offer several awesome scheduled activities during the day (missed out on Yoga and a mixology class). Love this place and hope to be back real soon. Thanks Sanctuary for a glorious stay!

Well… I have not ate here so I’m giving this place 5 stars based on the view alone. BEST VIEW! I see a lot of old dudes here with really young girls but who am I to judge. Bring my beautiful wife here and she loves it. Guys don’t be cheap! Bring your girl here for a bottle of wine and just take in the views. Spectacular.

The food is top notch. The rooms are chic & refreshingly fashionable (not even mid century modern!). The bathrooms are spa like on their own. The views of camelback mountain & the city below are breathtaking. We hosted an event here and the staff was accommodating, courteous and professional from start to finish. They were also exceptionally flexible! I cannot recommend this resort enough. I cannot wait to go back for a personal getaway.
And in all earnestness, Elements food quality is on par with other metropolitan areas. The chefs presentation is spot on.

Stunning in every way. Our room was amazing, simple, well apppointed and classy. Beautiful soaking tub, huge walk in shower, super comfortable bed, perfect seating area and bar products available. We were immediatly shown to our room upon arrival, even though we were early. Our valet was courteous and helpful, he carried our bags in and was informative about the grounds, spa, restaurant and surrounding area. He pointed out the smaller, more private pool closer to our room so we could find it later. Dinner at Elements was perfection. The bar was nice for a glass of wine before dinner and the dining room was beautifully lit. We were greeted and waited on immediatly. The appetizer, wine, dinner and dessert were the best meal we had all year. Our wait staff was polite and didn’t interupt us while we chatted. They seemed to come and go almost invisibly. We will be returning for a longer stay as soon as possible. When we returned from dinner our bed had been turned down and our pool shoes set out for us, along with salted chocolates and the next days menu and forecast made available. Our breakfast was delivered at the time we requested and was a perfect start to our day as we looked out on the valley. I am only bummed that we had to cancel our massages as we double booked our dinner and spa reservations for the same time.

This was my first time in Arizona and Sanctuary Resort was just jaw-​droppingly amazing. The scenery was breathtaking due to the rolling hills thanks to the mountain-​side, and there was perfect weather the whole time I was there.
A lot of people commented about the Spa services, but even hotel guests can use its amenities, which I thought was such a perk. It was like being able to have a Spa day without actually having to spend an arm and a leg extra. As a guest staying at the resort, you just have to sign in and ask to use the facilities, and an attendant will provide you with a locker that includes a towel, shoes, and bathrobe. You can ask for different sizes if you need to. The whirlpool hot tub inside the spa is amazingly warm and relaxing. I seriously applaud the little details when it comes down to service – the iced hand towels in front of the steam room, extra fluffy towels by the hot tub, the light eucalyptus wafting throughout the spa, and attentive staff who are available for you without being up in your face. Just sooooo spot on.
Hotel staff in general was just 200% the whole time we were there. I guess it’s to be expensive since my FIL paid an arm and a leg for the stay, but to see the follow-​through on service was amazing. The guy who initially greeted us outside the main office remembered our family name and greeted us every morning when we left from Breakfast. Turndown service was a nice touch, and we received party goods for the New Year, and himalayan salt & chili pepper flake topped caramels during our last day. When we asked if there was somewhere the family could play Uno, one of the guys brought up a table, tablecloth, and chairs up to our casita and set it up for us. The guy who was working poolside was also such a sweetheart and made sure that we were comfortable and hydrated. Check-​in and check-​out took two seconds.
The casita we were in was gorgeous; I loveeeee the Victoria + Albert tub & my fiancé and I are planning to get one when we renovate. The Red Flower Asian Neroli toiletries, bath salt, and room fragrance make the casita super zen. Every day, we were delivered ice, along with two bottles of water. I had to make a whole separate Unilocal review for the food at Elements.
tl;dr Spoiled rotten by staff, asian neroli scented everything! Spa amenities are worth visiting, and sitting poolside or dipping in the warm jacuzzi is amazingggggg.

Amazing and attentive staff. Beautiful and relaxing casitas. Turndown service is a nice bonus. Spa treatments were out of this world. Pool was wonderful. Food and drink are top notch. All around fabulous 5 day stay and hope to be back soon!

This place is phenomenal. It’s probably the prettiest thing I saw in Arizona. Everyone was so helpful from the moment we opened the car door at valet/​bell desk to when we checked out at the front desk. They recently renovated the rooms & they’re so beautiful! Beds & bedding are so comfy & cozy. The pool is huge & so cute/​trendy. The scenery surrounding the place is honestly breathe taking. Anyone trying to plan a romantic getaway book it here! Props to my boyfriend for finding this place.

Truly love this resort. The staff were wonderful. The food was delicious. The hotel itself was welcoming and comfortable. My husband and I chose Sanctuary for a quick staycation and we are so glad that we did. We didn’t feel like we were at home, we felt like we were someplace else!
During our stay there were some rooms being renovated. I have seen some comments about rooms being outdated. I’m fairly certain we ended up staying in an outdated room, but we still enjoyed it. The views were amazing and it had a very FLW feel about it. Didn’t make the hotel stay any less wonderful.
I LOVE the pool. So quiet and peaceful. Do yourself a favor and get a Jalapeño margarita. There are rules regarding specific days when children are permitted in the main pool (they can still use two other pools on the property any day of the week). I think this rule is amazing, and I have kids. The quiet atmosphere is what people come here for. Enjoy it!
The Jade bar is awesome for drinks and sunset views.
Sanctuary will cover all of the details here from when you check in, to turndown service in the evenings, to when you check out. The staff were intuitive and genuine. If you really want to escape and take a break, or even if you are passing through and just want to treat yourself, this is the place to do it.

When I hear or read «Sanctuary» I immediately think lap of luxury, higher prices, relaxing, all my needs are met, you know the word invokes those things right out of you– well… Let me tell you I only experienced relaxing and higher prices. This review is only of the restaurant breakfast experience and not of anything else associated with this place.
I ordered the aged cheese omelet and this bad boy came with no meat protein. The turkey sausage was 6.00 extra and I didn’t know it was in the omelet until I visually saw a meat like substance. I have to say meat like as it did not impart one iota of flavor to the omelet.
The customer service was buffet slow. I felt like I was responsible for getting more water, napkins, condiments, and the like. The original waiter was MIA and another guy was asked to give me water and other needed things.
After breaking into the omelet; I ordered a mimosa: I’m still waiting on that sucker!
For the price and the drive out it was not worth and of it other than the very quite and relaxing atmosphere.
I recommend a name change to the Buffet Shop– as you will tend to your own needs here. I hear the biggest room is the opportunity to improve room, Sanctuary can visit the opportunity room and improve quite a bit.

Great resort — perfect for a relaxing getaway!
This hidden place is tucked away behind Camelback mountain, yet is still a close drive to Scottsdale’s downtown (about 7 – 8 minutes).
The property itself is nice, and there are a lot of hills between each room, but they arrange for golf carts to transport you if you don’t feel like walking. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the bed is quite comfy!
My personal favorite amenities here were the infinity pool and the gym. The gym has mostly new equipment and is simply a nice space to get your sweat on! Additionally, the pool area is peaceful, and the hotel provides floating pool beds for your lounging pleasure. Just order their jalapeño margarita, snag one of the floaties and relax!
Tip: The food ordered from the pool area is pretty tasty, but takes a while from the time you order, so flag down one of the servers before you get too hungry to avoid being unpleasantly hangry!

Urban sanctuary tucked away in the mountains, it’s a nice thought, especially in Arizona. The hotel is beautiful and very modern and there’s no question they put a lot of thought into every detail to make it a unique boutique hotel.
This is a nice little place, considering it’s surrounded by houses in the neighborhood, and the customer service at the Jade Bar as well as the Elements (Chef Beau MacMillan’s) restaurant were great, it made everything that much more enjoyable.
Maybe I’ll come back and try the spa here…

My review is based off a wedding where I was part of the wedding party. I did not actually stay at the Sanctuary but spent a weekend there as part of the wedding plans.
Heading into the weekend I had pretty high expectations for the property because I had only heard very good things from my friends in the Phoenix area. I was not disappointed.
The staff at this resort is nothing but top notch. Very professional, hard working and customer service oriented. The wedding where I was a groomsman had around 100 guests and plenty of challenges. Originally it was planned as an outdoor ceremony but as luck would have it a huge storm struck the area the day of the event. Torrential rain and 70 – 80 mph winds hit the area with a vengeance. Trees were falling and it was quite a sight. Amazingly, within 5 minutes after the debris started to fall the resort had maintenance workers out with chainsaws to clear the area. I was beyond impressed. They brought lots of umbrellas and immediately changed the wedding plans to be indoors. The speed and efficiency with which they operated was impressive and displayed the caliber of service that is all to often hard to find at today’s resorts.
Everything from the cocktail service to the wedding dinner was handled with the utmost professionalism and highest quality of service. The food was sincerely some of the best food I’ve had in over 5 years (including Mastros and other fine dining). The filet with lobster sauce was so tasty it’s even hard to put into words. The waiters and kitchen staff were incredibly good at their jobs and handled 100+ guests without breaking a sweat. For someone like me (a Unilocaler) it was very impressive to watch.
I’d like to thank everyone at the Sanctuary for the incredible wedding they provided for my best friend. It was 5 star service that did not go unnoticed. I would highly recommend the resort’s wedding services to everyone. Bravo!
