Caldwell’s Shin Ryu Kan Martial Arts Institute has been in business in the Omaha/Bellevue/Papillion area since 1984 offering a complete well rounded and the finest martial art education training program available in traditional Soryu Karate-Do, Okinawan Matayoshi style Kobu-Do The Way of Ancient Weapons and Japanese Bai Shin Ryu Ju-Jutsu. The training sessions stress conditioning through the execution of basic techniques and are unquestionably rigorous, both physically and mentally. Attainment of perfection involves a great deal of quick and reflexive repetitive movement. While such training is difficult, it serves to give the practitioner both the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to advance to the higher levels of performance.
Martial Arts training offers an individual an excellent means for Conditioning with added benefits of Discipline, Self-Discipline, Self-Confidence and Self Defense.

Started his study of Karate-Do in Sasebo, Japan in Shorin Ryu under tutelage of Yoriyuki Yasuzato at his Sho Bu Kan Dojo in 1971 while stationed there in the U.S. Navy. In 1972 he changed styles to So Ryu Karate-Do under Michio Koyasu. Okinawan weapons and Ju-Jutsu were integrated in both Karate clubs he trained in in Japan.
Caldwell enrolled in Angelo State University in 1973 where he was also employed to teach Karate-Do. He graduated in 1978 receiving a commission in the USAF. Shihan Caldwell eventually ended up at Offutt, AFB, Nebraska in 1982 where he set up the Shin Ryu Kan Dojo to teach Karate-Do and Kobu-Do. In 1983 he alligned with Mikio Nishiuchi to study Matayoshi Okinawan Weapons ultimately becoming the third ranked Shihan in the International Okinawan Kobu-Do Association. In 1990 he wasappointed as the chairman of the All Japan Soryu Karate-Do Association, USA. In 1978 founded the All International Bai Shin Ryu Ju-Jutsu Federation.
