Got a great deal from a travel app, was half way between LA and Arcata and just needed a nice place to relax for the night. Would recommend this hotel to anyone, the minimalistic/modern design was refreshing. Why stay in an outdated hotel when you can stay somewhere that just opened a few months a go? Only things I think could be improved upon… checking in is slightly awkward as you walk up to the bar… It’s not obvious that it’s also where you should check in. I think they should make one side of the bar look more front desk looking… Besides that, there was a very cold draft coming in under the door of our room which had probably almost a half inch of space below it and the threshold in the room… Probably should seal better.

Cool, modern and«hip» hotel in the San Jose area. Had some meetings at Facebook and this place had reasonable rates and wasn’t too far away from Menlo Park. Imagine an old Motel 8 that had been completely renovated to include modern amenities(like AppleTV in your room) and you’ve got a good idea what The Nest is like. Very modern design in each room. Comfortable beds with great pillows. Modern shower but the water pressure was terrible. Staff was very friendly and check-in looked more like a wine bar than a front desk, which I found interesting. Decent location but there really aren’t many options for food, etc, within walking distance, so Über it up. Overall, a good place for a reasonable price. 4 stars!

Overall, this place is perfectly fine. I’d stay again, particularly given the insanity of hotel prices in Palo Alto, but there is room for improvement. The good: — The common areas– the bar and outdoor patio/fireplaces– are very stylish and pleasant. — The fitness center is 24 hours — There is ample free parking — The rooms are recently renovated and clean.(The rooms have HUGE TVs with cable, safes, irons, hairdryers, and single-cup coffee makers, but no fridge, microwave, or beauty mirrors.) — Free wifi! The meh to not so good: — There is little to no insulation in the rooms. My room was freezing on arrival. I could also clearly hear tons of noise from outside– luggage rolling by, people talking, etc. The noise made sleep difficult and was at times unnerving– it sounded like people were in my room! — The rooms have hard floors. While stylish, it means you can hear everything going on above you. — The hotel isn’t fully accessible; there’s no elevator to the second floor rooms. — The rooms are fairly dark. The only window in my room overlooked the parking lot on the first floor, so there was little choice but to leave the light-canceling blinds closed. The lighting inside the room is limited– a couple of recessed lights and a bedside lamp. — The wardrobe in my room smelled vaguely of cigarette smoke; I would think it was a fluke except a coworker had the same issue. Some of these issues may have been from the particular room I ended up with, and the staff were very friendly, but I thought the room fell a bit short for the price.

Would definately stay here again, updated modern rooms, amazing shower, the staff was professional and friendly, rooms were clean and very comfortable. For the $$$ very well worth it. Most definately up there with the best hotels.

The Nest Palo Alto, a boutique hotel, is the newest addition to the neighborhood and with its stylish décor and calming neutral color scheme, it couldn’t be a better fit. Booked this little gem for a Stanford-filled weekend of sports and upon arrival was pleasantly surprised on all fronts. Free parking, and plenty of it, the hotel’s use of space is smart and innovative. A beautiful outdoor patio area ushers you into what appears to be the bar and restaurant, but is also the lobby and guest registration! Where else can you order a beverage from the same counter you’re receiving your room key?! This lounge is also where the $ 8 continental breakfast is served — which was fantastic. Elegant buffet layout on the large conference-style table with yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, muffins and egg sandwiches. There is a fair amount of couch seating there with a TV, bathrooms and the lovely view outside. At night there is a fire pit that also divides the outdoor seating area offering a little more privacy and relaxing ambiance. Just like the rest of the hotel, the rooms are very modern and natural with muted themes and minimal decoration. The beds are very comfortable, heating unit worked great, tons of hot water — just kidding — drought! We were upgraded to a deluxe king and although on the small side(no fridge or microwave), it was still comfortable without being crowded and it’s a short walk to the lobby for ice as there are no machines on either floor. With a great — FREE — wifi connection, beautiful LCDTV and cable, it was a perfect way to unwind after a long day. They do not have rollaways, but self-inflating air mattresses that are just as good. The staff is very friendly and professional. It looks like there is a pool being built as well which will only add to the list of amenities. Thoroughly looking forward to coming back!
