Dr. Baird, Dr. Lam and everyone here are amazing. They helped my child after a bad fall, and took absolutely wonderful care of us. They are super caring, compassionate and so skilled, we knew we were in the best hands. We wouldn’t have chosen anyone else to do surgery on our toddler.

Dr. Baird gets my respect and highest recommendation. So does his staff. My husband found at at 8am on a Monday morning that he didn’t need a root canal but full blown tooth extraction for an infected tooth. Timing was very important as he had been suffering for 48 hours thinking it was «just a root canal.» Infections in your jaw bone from a tooth gone bad are nothing to mess around with. Dr. Baird and his staff got that point immediately and took my husband in within 30 minutes of calling and started to work on him. Dr. Baird is an excellent surgeon and deserves your business. I have had many challenges with teeth over my sixty years and he is the best. Thank you, Dr. Baird and your amazing staff who was gracious, cordial, friendly and helpful.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled at Dr. Baird’s office in Palo Alto. The only reason I went to have my procedure done is because I was highly referred by my primary dentist.
In a two week period from consultation to recovery I visited the office 5 times, and here’s why you shouldn’t go:
— At the Front desk everyone there was talking to me with their back turned when I was asking questions regarding my procedure.
— I was overcharged for my surgery and was in a lot of pain and had to fight for my refund, which I should not have to do. I was repeatedly told I was wrong, no apology, only incompetence from front office team and giving me the run around. I want to say people who work in the office should not have to do billing because clearly they are not able to calculate what needs to be charged and have very bad bedside manners, especially when this office was referred to me.
— Instead of taking time to recover from my difficult procedure, unfortunately, had to deal with people that are rude, unprofessional, and seem to hate their jobs, which left bad taste in my mouth after all!

Our daughter had two wisdom teeth removed, and her recovery was very quick. We had all the of information we needed to help her as she healed. Dr. Baird did very good work. We had to ask for – and pay an additional fee for – an appointment in advance to discuss her surgery. Otherwise, Dr. Baird reviews your x-​rays the morning of the surgery. Also, know going in that you will need to ask for a legible itemized receipt to submit to your health insurance company. The business office has no seeming interest or incentive to submit insurance in a timely manner. It was nearly four months before we received reimbursement. If we had received prompt reimbursement, this might have been a 5-​star rating.

I just underwent two extractions and I wish I could give Dr. Baird six stars. He is everything you want in a health care provider: experienced, flexible, and an excellent communicator. He explains your situation in detail and discusses all the options, not just the expensive ones, does not recommended services that are unnecessary, and never pushes a specific «treatment plan.» And most importantly, his skills are exemplary. Our family has been going to him for years and even with the more challenging dental surgeries we have never had a problem, and remarkably little pain, if any, following the procedure. The staff is professional, friendly and efficient. Regardless of recommendation or referral, I will always chose Dr. B.

Tooth extraction. Did a great job. Even called me that evening to see how I was doing. Very little discomfort during it, and very little pain or swelling after. Clearly is experienced and knows what he’s doing. I’m a happy customer, which is saying a lot when the job is removing teeth!!! :-)

Was referred to Dr. Baird by my dentist to deal with a severely impacted wisdom tooth. Dr. Baird’s team was GREAT! They were courteous to my appointment times — was always seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time. Leading up to surgery they communicated well what I needed to do. Handled the insurance claim without me needing to get involved. Surgery went off without a hitch and recovery has been far less painful than I thought. Couple other general notes: convenient parking, office is clean & nursing/​admin staff professional and really care about their patients/​patients family. Dr. Baird even called me a couple days post surgery to check on me — who does that any more :-) Thank you Dr. Baird and team for making a stressful situation much less so with your caring and professional service!

Scott is a brilliant oral surgeon. I had 2 of my wisdom teeth removed and was super nervous/​anxious about it for the couple weeks before I first met him. After I consulted him, all the anxiety and fear went away as he explained to me the procedure and discussed all of my concerns. The day of the surgery everything went smoothly. I chose to be sedated, so I did not feel anything and I only remember the sound of good classic music which was quite a relaxing experience.
After the surgery, same thing, everything went great. I followed the indications that they provided and I did not have any dry sockets. I didn’t even had to use pain killers, because really there was no pain at all.

My 12 year old daughter had to have her eye tooth exposed and bracketed since it was coming in wrong. We had a wonderful experience with Dr Baird. His office was organized and he was efficient and did great work. She had very little bleeding and very little pain. Dr Baird called us the first night to see how she was doing. Very pleased with service from start to finish! Thank you!

I had an upper wisdom tooth taken out a while back and I was really scared. Dr. Baird reassured me that it will be ok. After getting the tooth out I was swollen a bit but otherwise ok. Thank you Dr. Baird and staff !

It is very difficult to review an oral surgery place, because treatment is different for every patient. As a medical researcher, I understand that, so I review just for my wisdom teeth removal. I had my lower 2 teeth removed.
First, consultation and decide local or systemic anethesia. I chose local. I think it’s better. No point to treat for systemic. Then schedule a surgery day.
Surgery is just 45 min. Quick. No pain of course because of anethesia. I got a prescription for antibiotics for 3 days and 20 tablets of acetaminophen with codein.
Pain starts about 5 hours after the surgery.
Acetoaminophen with codein was not good for me. I am a good respondor for ibuprofen and codein made me so lazy and I couldn’t work the next day. It should be asked that.
7 days after the surgery, there is a follow up. then got a syringe to clean up the sockets.
Overall, it’s good.
Negative points:
1. Receptionist should have calld me about the price but didn’t. So I called.
Delta Dental Premier covers well.
2. the schedule is hard to set up, if you work busy.

Watch out for this guy and his staff. After contacting his office for my daughter to have 4 wisdom teeth extracted, I was told by his office staff that they had contacted my insurance company any that my insurance would cover any costs not paid by co-​insurance. They didn’t and I am stuck with over a $ 300 bill! Terrible and not to be trusted. I feel bad for the others that have written review and had terrible procedures, Its bad enough to go to dentist but worse to have bad treatment and dishonest or simply careless dealings. No stars.

This is actually my 1^st review to write on Unilocal and it pains me that it has to be negative, but I really would hate for someone else to experience what I did and feel compelled to share.
Whatever you do, if you are getting an implant done get things in writing. I would have gone to a different place had I known that there would be such inconsistent communication.
1.) I was told that after the post is completed and cleared then I would receive all the parts (including abutment part) needed in order to finish out the crown portion of the implant with my dentist back in Texas. I checked on this several times and was assured that the parts would be provided for the dentist to complete the crown. Even received the name of what the parts and that they are top of the line. I received my bag of the parts to finish it out and took it back with me to Texas. I was excited to have this finished out because it had been well over a year. The abutment part was missing from the bag. Because I was flying out of state to finish this out I made sure to ask several times about this part and was assured that the part would be provided for me to hand over to my dentist. Unfortunately i wasn’t able to finish out that trip for other reasons as well due to some complications that were resolved later. But I made a 2^nd trip to find that the part was missing.
2.) I was told that they (Palo Alto office) would send the parts to my dentist with instructions. When I got my parts they were just handed to me to take to my dentist. This wasn’t a problem for me to do BUT if they would have done this step as I was told they would, then my dentist would have known in advance before my travels that the part was not provided.
3.) I researched several places before selecting Dr. Baird. I even traveled back and forth from San Francisco in order to go with them. However, if I would have known there would be such of a lack of communication or care I would have chosen someone else.
4.) Dr. Baird could improve his bedside manners with patients. He was much better when I went in for the retreatment and I was surprised how compassionate he was during that visit because he had been otherwise during the main surgery day and other visits.
Moral, if you are going to move forward with them and are getting an implant make sure to get things in writing. For me this is all about the miscommunication about the parts (abutment in particular), so make sure they are clear with you on this before going to finish out the crown portion of the work.

In October I had a tooth extracted after making arrangements for a payment plan where I’d pay monthly.
The extraction went well. Dr. Baird was awesome, the healing went smoothly and everyone I met in the office was wonderful.
Sadly the woman (using that term loosely) who manages the accounts is the monster behind the pleasant mask.
I’m very good about paying my bills. I pay at the beginning of the month and the middle of the month because I have a very full life between those twice a month scenarios.
I received my first bill from them around the 19^th or 20^th and the very next day this «woman» calls and starts badgering me. Apparently I was supposed to have paid them on the 16^th.
I don’t know about you, but if someone expects me to have a payment to them by the 16^th, I expect to have that bill in hand before that date, not after, and certainly not a call for payment the very next day.
I was in the midst of crazy computer problems and had a call coming in so I told her I’d have a payment to her around the first of the month.
I was totally appalled to discover this morning that she’d taken my payment information and withdrawn the payment amount from my account on her own.
Apparently even cold-​blooded creatures have God complexes.
I do think Dr. Baird did an excellent job and the staff I met was very personable, so if you’re in a position to pay up front as is generally expected, you’ll be fine.
Avoid the snake lady though. She exemplifies all that’s wrong with the world and I can only hope that her just desserts come ala flambé!

If you’re looking for someone to make you feel comfortable and at ease about getting your wisdom teeth out, Dr. Baird is the right guy. BUT if you’re aiming for a quick recovery, I definitely suggest looking elsewhere.
Dr. Baird did a great job explaining the whole procedure and what I would experience in the following days. He made me feel comfortable the whole time I was sitting in the chair before he started. I had all 4 removed and it took less than 45 minutes — impressive! When I walked out of the office, I felt confident (at least from what I remember) in the work Dr. Baird had done.
But about a week later, the pain was not easing up like he had said it would and like I had heard from others. I had iced, iced, iced my cheeks and had taken all my prescriptions, so I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong. When a friend stopped by to drop off some ice cream, she asked how I was doing with «the syringe.» Syringe? I was never given a syringe after my surgery. I called the office to find out if I was supposed to be given one, and was told that I should have been, but they must have «just forgotten.» Because of THEIR error, my recovery period lasted for OVER A MONTH!
Long story short, I had a great experience at the office, but a very unpleasant one for the following month…

Wisdom teeth angels
My daughter was scheduled to have her wisdom teeth pull and from my own Horrible/​nightmarish experience I was terrified for her. We were scheduled to meet with two Oral & Maxillofacial DMD sense my daughter wanted full anesthesia.
Dr Braid and Michelle made me feel at easy and assured my daughter everything would be fine, they explained the procedure would take 45mins to an hour and what to expected after.
After the procedure was done I thought the nightmare would beginning but it NEVER came my daughter was bright eyed and talking. This was not what I was expecting at all, she was able to walk to our car without incident did her school work, she didn’t need any pain meds. I had to tell her to lay down and relax.
It’s only been a week sense her procedure and she’s doing Great.

Dr. Baird and his staff are incredible. They are friendly, caring, and the utmost professionals in their practice. Dr. Baird came highly recommended from my dentist so when I could no longer put off my wisdom any longer, I made sure to schedule with them.
On the day of surgery, they explained all the procedures and gave me the option to not remove one of my four. Dr. Baird explained that one didn’t seem like it was moving and was so nestled down, it would be more invasive to get it out. He could do it, but it was totally my call. I appreciated how candid he was, and I decided to let sleeping dogs lie and just get out three.
When I sat in the chair, they sprayed some cooling spray on my arm, I felt something go into my arm (not painful) and right after they attached the monitor to my finger, I was out. The next thing I knew, I woke up on my couch feeling like I got the best sleep ever. I am not going to lie, the first day was great. Being numb is awesome. The following days, my recovery was more painful but the meds really helped (I did feel a little like MJ with all the pill popping I was doing). A week out, I was still experiencing pain (probably because I’m old lady), so Dr. Baird put in a dressing into my lower pocket and I felt so much better!
I appreciated how attentive the staff was to my discomfort. My husband called yesterday morning to tell them about my pain, and they squeezed me in within 2 hours of calling.
Of course ideally, no procedure is ideal, but if you have to, you have to go see Dr. Baird!

I was referred to Dr. Baird through my orthodontist for my wisdom tooth extractions. Not sure if it’s my high pain tolerance or the expertise of Dr. Baird, but I was eating phở at the end of the day (I only had wisdom teeth on one side of my mouth).
What I most appreciated was the follow up call after the surgery just to check in to make sure I was doing fine. I had one follow up appointment in order to pick up the syringe (used to spray the food out of the holes in my mouth). It was a slight waste of my time, since I didn’t have any infections and have good hygiene (so I like to think). Now I’m all healed. Since I know more oral surgery lies in my future, I will definitely give Dr. Baird a call.
My younger sister also had to get a tooth extraction and her experience with Dr. Baird and his staff were equally satisfactory.

After getting over having to use the syringe to shoot water into the bottom holes, recovery was a breeze!
They still aren’t completely filled in – but almost.
I never got the dreaded dry socket and pain and discomfort was minimal after the first week or so. My face didn’t swell up AT ALL.
I’m so glad I got this procedure done. It was something I was stressing about for a LONG time and now looking back on it, it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Thanks Dr. Baird!
