Rinconada Masters Swim Club

I’m not sure there is a better community of swimmers around, at such a variety of skill levels. It’s very low pressure and easy to join. Also, the facility is terrific — lots of space for everyone. And, the practice times are very convenient. Worth checking out, especially if you are interested in swimming but aren’t over-​the-​top intense about it.

I came to Rinconada Masters after taking the Swim for Fitness class one summer. Coach Carol taught the 4 strokes, gave really helpful tips on technique, introduced me to the rigors and rewards of the work outs. Before I knew it, I was swimming with the Rinc Masters– a dedicated and collegial group. I’m no athlete. I just like being in the water. Coach Carol and Coach Kohei are a great team– encouraging (bossy), focused (driven), dedicated (obsessed),
and above all motivating. Competition is not a big element or I’d have lost interest. If you are competitive, you’ll have many opportunities to join Kohei as he tackles swim challenges himself and is always encouraging others to join him. Know that your personal swimming goals will be respected and honored by the coaches. Great facilities.

Rinconada Master is the ideal swim team for all levels of abilities. Its wonderful head coach and co-​founder, Carol Macpherson, has been tremendously dedicated to the team for over 40 years. She is not only excellent at critiquing stroke technique if you request it, but she is also a highly experienced swim instructor and has even turned non-​swimmers into thriving masters swimmers. Carol is a champion All-​American swimmer and can also occasionally be found in the water working out while our energetic and fun assistant coach, Kohei Asano, is on deck.
The team itself is like one big family — lots of comraderie and multi-​generational. Swimmers range in age from 21 to 96. And there is no pressure — only support to achieve your goals. Lanes are not packed with people, and workouts range from beginner to advanced. There are workouts to choose from every day of the week (12 total). Seniors receive a small discount on their membership.
As for the facilities, Rinconada Pool is one of the top pools in the area — outdoor, 14 lanes, infinity edge, backstroke flags, starting blocks, digital clocks, and spacious locker rooms.
I highly recommend giving it a try — no matter what your experience level, the team will welcome you!

I have been a member of the club for 10 years. I far as I am concerned, it is the best Masters Club on the Peninsula. Great facilities (14 lanes in the pool, plenty of showers in large dressing rooms) and wonderful workouts written on «sandwich boards» so you don’t have to keep asking for the next set. Wonderful group of fellow swimmers. It truly feels like going to a second home meeting your second family. I hadn’t really worked out as a swimmer for about 40 years since college. When I first started at Rinconada I was beyond rusty. So, you start out slowly and can build up over the years. Or, you can start out slowly and stay there still getting an experience leading to a more healthy life.
I strongly recommend that you come by the pool and check out the facilities and the program.

I have been working out with the Rinconada Masters Swim Club for more than 35 years, and I’m here to tell you that it is significantly better than lap swimming. Most people who do lap swimming simply swim back and forth for an hour or so using poor stroke mechanics and obtain little in the way of fitness or satisfaction. This is a great program to keep you fit or to get you to competition shape! You can get stroke instruction with a professional coach. The other swimmers are really nice. For $ 50/​month it is a bargain.
