History

Established in 2014.

Triada was built in 1928 originally as a private residence with a courtyard building that was added to it in 1939. The two buildings were designed in a Spanish Colonial Revival style to reflect the romanticized notions of California’s Spanish/Mexican past. In 1948 the property was named The Ambassador Hotel and quickly began attracting Hollywood’s biggest and brightest.

In 1972 the hotel was sold to talent agent and widow of film actor Alan Ladd, Sue Carol Ladd, who renamed the hotel, «Alan Ladd’s Spanish Inn,» the name under which it operated until her death in 1982. After Sue’s passing, the property was operated by Desert Resorts, Inc. and was simply known as, «The Spanish Inn.»

Triada today was purchased in 2012 and began working on its reinvention — honoring the foundation of its 1930’s Spanish hacienda architecture, while keeping current with the needs of the 21st century traveler. Triada opened November 2014 as a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel.
