Update on their scam:
We’ve charged back the charges after waiting SEVEN MONTHS for our furniture with no response to our emails or calls. Now Modshop has FORGED our signatures on TWO different documents they sent in to the credit card company to fight the dispute!
I think we may take legal action at this point. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!!

We recently bought several pieces from the store and they were of great quality and the service was very helpful.

We are decorating an addition to our Mid Century home in Racquet Club.
The manager at Mod Shop sat down with us and helped us find some amazing pieces of furniture. They have great accessories as well, there is always something new to look at.

I’ve shopped in most of the high end mid-​century modern stores throughout Palm Springs and have found most of them to be reputable and worthy of 4 – 5 stars. This is not the case for ModShop and thus the 1 star rating, which is based on my 10-​25-​2014 experience. There was an oval marble-​topped dining table with a white tulip base that had been marked down and tagged ‘as is’ because there were a few minor flaws in the marble. I told the store manager that I wanted the table anyway because it was the ideal size for my 1959 compact Wexler designed dining area and would compliment the Shelby Williams dining chairs I purchased a few years ago from Boulevard (5 stars). I explained that I needed to measure the space to be certain that the table would fit. The measurements were perfect and I called the store manager back immediately and asked if he could hold the table because it was late in the day and I had visitors from the Hague. The manager said that he’d be happy to hold the table until Monday, which took a huge amount of pressure off me. I have a friend who has been wanting to buy my Design Within Reach Italian glass-​topped expandable table so I (foolishly) sold it to him on Sunday and began preparing the dining area for the new table. I called the store manager at 9 a.m. Monday and left a message telling him that I’d like to provide my credit card information and arrange delivery for the table and that I’d call him back when they opened at 11 a.m. The manager told me not to get too excited about the purchase because the store owner was «in over the weekend and saw the flawed table and wanted it pulled from the showroom and placed into one of his vacation rental homes because Palm Springs is a small town and he didn’t want his name on anything leaving the store that wasn’t in perfect condition.» I’m not going to bother trying to figure out what really happened but one thing is clear: You will never see me leaving the store with anything in the future.

Love this Shop, great quality, Great Service and Gorgeous furniture and accessories. Highly recommend. I furnished my living room and dining room from Mod Shop and get compliments all of the time.

Guess what… They still have not issued a refund on my credit card yet.
After reading the reviews I see non of these people bought anything from them…

Great stuff

Lots of colorful and lovely modern and Hollywood Regency décor and furniture to be found here! The tufted sofas are especially fabulous.

Room Service has re-​opened a Palm Springs location at 1068 North Palm Canyon.

Just another fun store in Palm Springs. If you are into modern and minimal design! It’s really fun. My friend and I came in here after the Modernism Show at the Palm Springs convention center on Sunday. We walked and hit almost every design store on Palm Canyon. The owners are nice guys who were wrapped up in a conversation about Ikea lighting. I liked that they were nice and not pushy! Not the typical sales person. The owl Pillows were rad but I saw some a while back at Ikea and hmm not into it. But, if in the area you should stop by this store. I like that it’s light and bright in here. Very welcoming!

This is another one of our top finds from last weekend: a great store that has a better collection of high profile design furniture than Design Within Reach, and for sure, at much better prices.
Room Service has stores also in LA and Pasadena– I am not sure which store was the first one. Their motto is «home furnishing for your soul». And indeed the items I saw at this medium-​size showroom appealed powerfully and emotionally to me.
The person who helped us was David Travis, who is a furniture designer himself, and the manager of the store. From what I learned, Mr. Travis has been recently involved into remodeling Ms. Hilton’s home in Hollywood. I am highly doubtful with regards to this celebrity’s taste, but I figure that Ms. Hilton has many advisers. Also, she can afford pretty much anything out there. So to be picked by a customer of this caliber must be a significant thing.
