Welcome to Ernest Coffee — Palm Spring’s only independent coffee shop serving Stumptown Coffee in a light and modern space designed by local architect Chris Pardo.
For breakfast, we offer an extensive selection of fresh pastries including gluten-free options, quiche and hot oatmeal topped with nuts and dried fruits.
For lunch or snacks, join us for a carefully curated selection of cheese and charcuterie plates. We are a fully licensed bar and offer a selection of wine, beer, bubbly and mimosas all day long! Join us for happy hour daily with half-price house wine and beer from 4pm to 6pm.
Contact us about your private party — we have a great space perfect for bachelorette parties, birthday parties, book signings and launch parties.
Speaking of parties, make sure you check out Bootlegger Tiki — our sister speakeasy, sharing the same space and patio as Ernest Coffee. We are your neighborhood speak-easy offering craft cocktails, cheese and charcuterie plates. We juice all of our citrus in-house and make all of our own syrups resulting in a high quality craft cocktail every time!
Bootlegger Tiki loves happy hour so much we offer two every day from 4−6pm and 12−2am.
History
Established in 2013.
Located on North Palm Canyon Drive in the Uptown Design District, in the building that housed the original 1950s «Don the Beachcomber» tiki restaurant, Ernest Coffee draws its name from «Don’s» given name: Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt, celebrating the founding father of tiki restaurants and bars. Ernest Coffee is the first coffee shop in the Palm Springs area to serve Stumptown Coffee, and we are offering freshly baked pastries like almond croissants and muffins, including gluten free options. There is also a tiki bar in the back named Bootlegger after Mr. Gantt’s early profession.

Gregory M.
Manager
After 10 years working in the well-known ‘Brasserie La Napoule’ as the lead waiter in his hometown in the South of France, Gregory moved to Burbank CA in 2008 to open a coffee shop named Simply Coffee, which was named ‘Best Coffee in Burbank’ by The Examiner. After selling his business, he moved to Palm Springs and Ernest Coffee is thrilled to have him as our GM.
An expert barista, Gregory is fluent in French and English and has a vast array of management and customer service experience.
