Renova Solar

I purchased a SunPower solar system from Renova in order to get our electric bills down to a level that two retirees with moderate incomes can afford. I didn’t want to live the rest of my life checking daily usage and estimated bills from Southern California Edison (SCE) and sweating it out in the summer. Because I did not want to encumber the sale of my home (now and when we’re gone), I did not see much sense to a lease or Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
I selected Renova because their installation teams are company employees and not subcontractors, and because the SunPower panels are the best on the market and designed for a desert environment. The system was contracted the end of 2015 with an installation estimated the end of January or beginning of February. I also live in a homeowners association so there was extra approval work prior to installation. There was very little that I had to do along the way and nobody dropped the ball during the whole permit and approval process.
Installation began on a Tuesday January 26^th and was essentially completed that Friday January 29^th. This included a power box replacement. The stucco guy was the only subcontractor on the job and did a great repair job. I don’t think I’ve seen such a well coordinated and controlled implementation in many, many years. The team was very friendly and kept the job site clean. The whole system looks great.
We were generating power on that Friday. It was fun to see the meter going backwards. The city inspected the installation on Monday February 1^st with no issues. Renova submitted to SCE the application for Net Energy Metering (NEM) that day, and we were officially on the program 3 days later on Thursday February 4^th. I think we were very fortunate to have Renova running the interference for us. I hope they will be able to grow and still keep their edge.

Where to start… I am a solar purchaser (not leasing) and have nothing but good things to say about Renova:
— They use the highest quality panels, SunPower. No one else even comes close in terms of efficiency (at time of this review, at least)
— They do all the paperwork for you! They contact the city, Edison, and anyone else and all you have to do is sit back and produce power.
— Ken Waski, My service contact person, was knowledgeable and friendly. I must have asked Ken a new set of questions every week and he always had the answer and was quick to respond. Thank the stars if you end up with Ken as your rep.
— Install was quick (2.5 days, system was live and generating power on the last day as well) and Ken made sure I understood how it worked, and what to do if it wasn’t working.
— Professional: Everyone I spoke with was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The installation crew (Andy and the rest) were great as well.
— Local company. Nothing wrong with a national brand, but its nice that Renova is «home grown» and uses local products and services when possible.
— System cost was also in line with other, bigger companies, so its not like you are paying a premium with Renova
Bottom line is I couldn’t think of a better company to work with, and would easily recommend them to anyone looking to Go Solar.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Renova Solar. Cortland Knudson is a remarkable young man who was the sales rep and kept in touch during the whole process. He also arrived with the installers and introduced them to me. They completed the installation in 3 days. Producing electricity on the 3 day. Cortland then came over with a gift box which included free cleaning for a year. He instructed me on how to get online and how to read the new SCE Bill. Renova also keeps a monitor reporting back if there is any problem with the system. I highly recommend Renova and their employee Cortland is a huge asset to their company.

Amazing customer service from Renova and especially our sales guy Jesse. We could not have asked for a more caring and compassionate team when my husband had health issues. Took the time to explain and walk us through getting everything in order. Absolutely incredible to work with. Thank you!

I can’t believe this happened today. First rain in the desert since I had Renova instal solar panels in July. I noticed some leaks… water dripping into my home. I emailed Renova (just wanting to document the problem). I got an IMMEDIATE call from them, and less than 3 hours later I have a crew on my roof… in the rain… in the dark… with lights… working on my roof! I am so impressed by this Company… can’t say enough good things about their customer service and attention to details. They’re THE BEST!

Just finished my solar installation. I Love hearing that inverter hum. It’s the sound of my panels printing money! My system will pay for itself in 7 years. After that I will be saving thousands each year. What other home improvement can you say that about?
The crew was very nice and professional. My sales consultant, Cortland Knudsen, did an excellent job throughout the entire process. I highly recommend you give him a call.

We first met with Ken and he went over everything with us and was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and even answered our daughter’s questions she had. The process was very simple and quick. We had Andy has our team foreman and he was very polite and kept us informed on the whole process and where they were with the project. Very good work, keeps the job site super clean. We do recommend Renova Solar!

The Solar System is too new to determine the long term quality of the product. The service and followup after the purchase has been totally unsatisfactory. Renova’s focus is on sales and not customer relations. Their phone personal were unprofessional and rude. I had to call the sales person many times and his focus was on sales, not post sales attention to customer needs. I have asked to speak with company leadership, with no response, instead they sent me a $ 100 gift certificate to a restaurant. I gave the certificate back, I asked for attention to my issues. This demonstrates NO ClLASS as a company. They have a $ 500 referral program, the person who referred me had to make 6 calls and five months to get their referral fee. With their service I can not recommend Renova!

Great company and great people that work here. I’m really happy I chose to go with Renova Solar. I highly recommend you give them a call if your interested in solar.

Along with many of our neighbors, we had Renova install Solar on our home. I cannot say enough about the service we got. Our sales rep, Courtland was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Up to and during installation, he was available and anxious to answer all our questions. Courtland even now several months after our install calls us occasionally to be sure we are happy with the system. The installation team was also terrific. They were timely, communicative, neat and extremely professional. I cannot say enough about Renova, and highly recommend them to anyone considering a solar installation.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Where to start. Salesman was fine good presentation. While I was on vacation started getting pressured to sign the lease agreement. Could it be that it was getting close to end of quarter and someone was trying to reach a quota? Not cool to bombard someone while on vacation with an 8 hour time difference.
Contract signed in June. Then told installation wouldn’t happen until September??? Pressured to sign all paperwork including a completion certificate before work even finished.
And things go down from there.
Received email that work would start September 1 concluding the 8^th of September. Clear my schedule for this to be done as the installers would need access to my internet router at some point.
First day of work is a no show
Work completed or so I thought by the 8^th but no one needed access to my router. Told everything is up and running. To my surprise a week later found out it wasn’t.
2 weeks later… Received call that a test needs to be done. I have to interrupt my work schedule to let them in my house to connect to the router. Totally not convenient as I had cleared my schedule 2 weeks prior.
Installer comes out… system doesn’t work. 5 different cables used to connect system and still no luck. Completely fed up at this point.
Not convenient for me to sit around as I’m supposed to be traveling and the salesperson asks me to leave my gate and garage door unlocked for 6 weeks while I’m supposed to be gone for them to have access. When I say no, asks me to give him my garage door remote so I don’t have to leave things unlocked. Says company has liability insurance to cover me if I’m robbed while things are unlocked. I say no. Supposed to leave on a trip and keep getting pressured to give access to my house. Why? Possibly because it’s quarter end again and someone is trying to reach a quota.
Travel schedule frees up 1 day, let salesperson know. He assures me someone will be out at 7 am that day and it will take a half hour and all will be finished. Never hear back until I text for a status update. I get a call back at almost 9 am that the installer will be out at 11:30
Good thing I cleared my schedule in the morning to be interrupted during a work call when they finally show up, especially after I had left the gate and garage door open for them. Installer works in garage for an hour. Get a text from salesperson after that the installer has been pulled from the job because they can’t access the inverter… in the garage they had been working in for an hour. System still doesn’t work. At this point I realize the level of incompetence I’m dealing with. I rip the sales person, scheduler and the boss a new one. Expert dispatched within 15 minutes
Finally 3 weeks later after taking an hour and a half to do what was supposed to take a half hour system connects. Go online to see monitoring report, web page says it’s not producing. It should show up in an hour or so???
So is it working at this point? I have no idea. And I will not sign a completion statement and start paying for this system until I am able to see that the system is generating the power they stated in the contract.
I am a huge proponent of solar. But not RenovaSolar. Their installation process was awful. They either need to hire competent people to install their systems or add a disclaimer to their lease that you will be in on inconvenienced repeatedly for their ineptitude.

Our family recently had our install of our new solar panels. It took us many months to decide which company to go with and we finally decided on what we thought was the best. Our representative Michael and Devon were great. They answered any questions I had, offered to assist in what ever I needed throughout the entire process. I feel confident we made the right decision and THANK YOU formatting our home to be more green!

Renova far exceeded my expectations. I received other bids from companies that just wanted to close the deal. From beginning (Chad, my sales person) throughout the project, the team was outstanding. Frankie was my Crew Leader and he was superb, as well as his team including Joe, George and Santiago. Really glad that I chose to go local, I’ve been in their offices and everyone is very willing to help from management to support staff. They are always timely and available for follow-​up questions. Occasionally you receive a mind blowing level of service from beginning to end that warrants being recognized — our experience with renovasolar was such an experience. From their superiority in the market with their product offering, to the excellence in sales representation from Cortland, to the on time, on schedule, error free installation of our solar panels led by Brian Wilson and his team and finally to all «I“s being dotted to all «T“s being crossed contractually this was a most satisfactory and error free process. Let me begin by saying before you choose to go Solar-​do your «homework» and research the other Solar companies that are out there. I am certain you will come to the conclusion that Renova is truly the only legit one. It took my husband and I close to a year to decide to commit to Solar as we were apprehensive and did not completely understand the whole process, however, all that changed after speaking to Brandon De La Torre, our Solar Consultant from Renova. From start to finish Brandon was thorough, efficient, and spoke to us using non jargon language that we could understand. He put us at ease with his non-​pressure and honesty when it came to assisting us throughout this whole process.
In addition, our Renova installation crew led by Gavin were professional, courteous, and timely. They arrived when they said they would and paid great attention to detail. Every step of the way worked out exactly how we were told it would, and there were no surprises. As a result, our Solar process from beginning to end has been stellar and leaving us wondering why we did not get the ball rolling sooner!
All in all, we are grateful we have this all done and can now relax and enjoy saving money, time, energy, etc. as we enjoy our new solar home just in time for the summer.

Our experience with Renova Solar was nothing less than AWESOME. On our initial visit to their office we met with Nate Lewis. He provided us with very good and easy to understand information and described how a solar system works.
Our system was scheduled for installation and we were kept informed the entire time. The installation crew with Foreman Jared was great. They did an outstanding job of keeping up informed as they went along, took great care to make sure everything was clean and orderly at the end of each day and continually asked if we had any questions.
Since the installation was completed, our energy production is about twice our usage for this time of year. I am looking forward to seeing how summer goes!
If you’re in the market for solar, I would not hesitate recommending Renova! I like the fact they’re a local company, employ local workers and the solar panels are made in the USA…

Very professional in all aspects. They are great at explaining the process and what to expect. Sales, Installation, and 90 day check up went perfect. We are pleased with our savings and look forward to years of Green Energy. We wanted to buy locally and support local families.
