This place is not customer friendly, not only was the owner extremely rude, but you need a key to navigate the map that they call a menu, not any where in Randy’s was it posted that they take cash only so I had to hop back in my DeLorean and travel back to 2016 to find an ATM, then go back to 1950 to pay, if you like treasure hunts, rudeness, crummy food, and only carry cash this is the spot for you.McFly.

We stumbled upon this restaurant looking for lunch on a weekday. There were maybe 4 others there. It’s a local neighborhood eatery which is where we usually like to eat at when on vacation. Randy’s is unique starting with the menu, a mish mash of tidbits of Randy’s life. Interesting but makes it hard to choose. Our food was alright. The hamburger was non descript. The eggs scramble was good. Both were non greasy. You can tell Randy tries to cook healthy. Randy is the chef and a hoot but he should tone it down, a bit over bearing walking around singing and talking loudly. He gave us good advice on places to see. Cash only — and it’s on the pricey side. Go to experience this unique restaurant then you decide if you’d like to go back.

Awful, the food was subpar, it’s not kid friendly, and they’re just not helpful for first time customers. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, at least not for breakfast. I ordered eggs over easy and received well done. My son’s scrambled eggs were burnt… the furniture is awful. it’s cash only and extremely over priced. IHOP has better food and service…

This is the best, most friendliest, place to eat! Randy came out and talked to us, made us laugh, and we felt so comfortable! The food is amazing! Cooked fresh! Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. Come here ready for home cooked meal and warm greetings!

If you have lived at the beach and walked to the little place around the corner, that is what you will find at Randy’s Café. Personal service that is not fast but relax enjoy and know that you are getting your breakfast made to order just like you were at your friends house. Don’t come here if you are a snob or in a hurry as others have said. We ate here for the first time and true it’s the end of the season so iwe had great service and really good breakfast with no grease which made it so fun. Randy you are really special, thanks for being here for so long, we will be back… And BTW don’t forget to go inside and check out the walls really an experience…

We found this place by accident. As soon as we walked in, it felt like we were at the home of an old friend. The food is fresh and cooked to order… delicious!

This place is CASHONLY! The food is very average and the owner would rather sit down with his customers than take care of business. Many better options in the area.

Unloaded our baby, put her in the stroller, went in at 12:36 anticipating a simple Sunday breakfast. Snappy female server loudly informed us they closed at 12:30 and watched us do the long walk of shame back out the door. What hole in the wall breakfast joint closes for Sunday breakfast at 12:30??? One who wants to close for good, I would think! No comment on the food as we did not get a chance to try it. Suppose we won’t, either.

Good service, everyone was very friendly. Good food, some of us really liked our breakfasts, others thought theirs were fine but nothing outstanding.

You haven’t experienced Palm Desert if you don’t have breakfast with Randy and Mel. The coffee is excellent, the food is tasty with generous portions(have the potatoes and OJ). Come for the conversation, music, eclectic atmosphere and good food. If you’re in a hurry, eat someplace else because Randy is the greeter, chef and ambassador of good will. #47 is the most popular item on the menu and you won’t be disappointed.

It has been a couple of years since we’ve been to Randy’s. Stopped in for a Great Breakfast & Good conversation with Randy. Informed Randy of the passing of a long time winter customer, Cousin John. John even had an on the menu list for a few years. Same Old enjoyable Randy. Look forward to stopping by for more Great Breakfast meals when we are in town. Thanks Randy for the unique experience in the Desert. Lee & Kris, we’ll make sure Pat, in Edmonds, WA., gets copies of the photos that we took today.

If you’re wanting a good laugh, come to Randy’s. But if you’re wanting good food, go elsewhere. Definitely an experience.

This is a place to go just for the Exerience first and then the food second. Three stars for the food and the fourth was added for Randy. He is the café! We hit a slow week so he was waitstaff and cook. «Don’t be in a hurry» says the 3 Ring binder that serves as a menu. Also listed, among other things, are John Wooden’s Pyramid of success and suggestions on things to do and places to see in the Palm Desert area. Randy suggests item number 47 which he says is the most popular. It’s basically two eggs, two bacon, potatoes, two pancakes or waffles or his specialty French toast and orange juice and coffee for $ 13.50. As he says«everything is fresh and made to order». Good, classic diner food. The walls are covered with history of sports, Randy’s family and friends and movie industry folks. Don’t let the looks of the exterior scare you away– you need to experience this café at least once!

Such a cute hole in the wall breakfast place! The menu is enormous! They give you a binder, an actual binder! There’s a bunch of cool facts and whatnot in the binder besides just the menu. The portions are enormous just like the menu. If you’re in a rush, I don’t recommend this location. It’s a great spot to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. The food doesn’t come out that quickly — but everything is made fresh to order. It’s like a home-cooked breakfast. If you like breakfast and you have some extra time on your hands — this is the place to go to!

Let’s start with this — if you’re looking for FAST food, don’t come here. The food at Randy’s Café is made with quality and not a microwave. We were driving around trying to find some place for Sunday brunch and happened to drive by here and thought«this looks fun!» The menu is a little extensive, but it serves as great reading material during the wait for your food to come out. The waitress broke the menu down for the table, explaining where to look for certain things. We came for Sunday brunch. 3 burgers were ordered and an eggs Benedict. We all LOVED the food! Wow was it good! Randy is the owner, and I’m almost positive the cook as well, but he comes around and talks to all the people waiting and eating and checking after the meal how everything was. This is definitely a local hole in the wall that has made it for 28 years! Locals clearly love it! I did like that the menu had suggestions of things to do in Palm Springs and suggestions of important things for new residents like a list of doctors, dentists, pediatricians, cleaners, etc. If you have the time and CASH come here! **cash only**

You can’t come to Randy’s place and then go home and write a Unilocal review comparing him to a Denny’s or Keedy’s or Sherman’s or any other place you have ever been for breakfast. That is because Randy’s Café is in a class and experience by itself. I don’t know what class, but a class by itself. His place is filled with memories of the past. You can stand and read the wall while waiting for your meal. It seems to me to be a labor of love for Randy, a former pro athlete. When we were there last weekend, Randy was the chef. Just one other woman was working the tables frantically. The place was filled – mainly with locals that know him. No one can be in a rush when you eat here – it may come out fast or slow – you never know. But what Randy’s place offers, that many negative reviewers are missing because they are stressed out and can’t see it – is solace. At most restaurants, it is hectic, noisy, rushed in and out – not a Randy’s. It’s a peaceful atmosphere, like a calm Sunday at home without a care in the world. Randy is like your dad or uncle that asks you what you want, and prepares a meal for you while you relax. Randy is not a multi-chain corporation – it’s one man. His menu is lengthy because it’s filled with stories just like the walls. Prices here are the same as anywhere in palm desert. As far as the quality of the food, the egg whites with vegetables with potatoes was good. Not the best I have had, and not the worst. Randy was apologetic that my meal come to the table 10 minutes after my partner’s meal so he gave us a free CD Rom with his favorite songs on it. I have to commend Randy for doing what many others only talk about doing. Opening up a business that he enjoys and giving it the best shot. Come here if you want a break from the usual, but keep an open mind, and don’t compare. Cash only.

Horrible… Mom and I were hungry and in a hurry, big mistake stopping here. We entered to find a strange old room with patio furniture for chairs, a kitchen the size of a bathroom, and not much else. We sat and ordered coffee and water, my water was in a small dixie cup, and mom wasn’t offered cream. Once we opened the menu which strangely was a three ring binder with about 40 pages of strange stories, and the menu was in between all of this and was a mess. Finally after staring at the mess of a menu, we ordered, mom had french toast with potatoes and bacon. I ordered an egg sandwich with bacon. We then noticed a little sign on the table saying that«if you are in a hurry, you are probably in the wrong place.» When the food arrived my moms potatoes were burnt and there were large pieces of dry skins just mixed in with them, Her french toast was barely egg coated and the bacon(hers and mine) was very under cooked. She didn’t each much and I was starving so I pushed the potatoes aside, and pulled the bacon out of my sandwich. Also our server provided almost nothing that a human needs to eat a crappy breakfast… had to ask for cream, spoon for coffee, utensils & napkins, syrup, and my milk that I had already ordered. So…30 dollars later, and still hungry we left… never to return.
