Love palm desert Mastros. Went for Father’s day. Did not have reservation. Asked to sit in bar. It was 4pm we were the only ones in the place and they seat us next to the kitchen! I suppose someone has to sit there but we were the only ones in the place! Service was snail pace slow but excellent when she came around. Three people in our party dropped $ 300.00 not including tip. Food was outstanding! Had take away boxes only to find not all our food made it home. That’s frustrating! They have a duet in the bar providing B– cover songs. Singers should know the words and stay on key. Overall lovely night. Probably won’t go back as there are so many excellent steak houses in the desert!

This is the 4th or 5th Mastros ive dined at. Once again they provided a wonderful experience and great food. We went here with a group of 12 or so guys for a bachelor party and had a nice private room in the back. I didnt exactly know what to expect service-wise when you have a group of this size, but they did a wonderful job making sure we had a great time. Mastros remains #1 steakhouse!

The food was great and the staff truly does pamper you. First time i have been handed a warm towel after oysters. It felt like we had our own personal server which was nice. My review is 3 stars because it was so loud it really ruined our entire experiance. We were seating next too a huge party that was so loud we couldn’t even carry on a conversation. I would really suggest management try to separate large parties from the rest of the patrons. It was obvious we were not the only ones that were upset. We rushed to eat and get out which should not have been the case spending over $ 350 on a meal/wine. Don’t think we will be back. So much for a romantic dinner on our anniversary. Disappointed.

Came here for the first time with a birthday party. Restaurant atmosphere was very nice. The table that we had was not level with the one it was connected to so when a glass of red wine was placed down it fell causing a big mess. The waiters promptly cleaned it up and fixed the table issue but it would have been nice if it was fixed when it was mentioned prior. We had tomahawk steaks shared with everyone at the table. I heard so many good things about this piece of meat but I wasn’t super impressed it has a lot of fat on it and I like more meat. The ice cream and butter cake was Very good. I may just come back for dessert lol.

This is an overall top notch steakhouse. Aside from the great food, what i really appreciate is the amazing people that work here. Been here a million times and i must say everyone from the managers, to the bartenders, to the servers are really good at what they do. Noe and Becca manage the place and always make sure we are taken care of and are having a great time. The Lounge is fun and is Bigger bar than most bars here in the desert.

I’ve been coming to Mastros for a couple of years now with my family and it gone downhill. So first service is a disaster as they are trying to fill it with newer staff. From start to finish the whole process took over 3 hours. Everything we requested took so long. They brought out my wrong food and it took two people and 35 minutes before they got it right. They didn’t even offer to discount it or remove it from the bill. I asked for sauces none of it came out. All of the food was overcooked and seemed rush. My vegetables were all burned and when I told the waitress she didn’t do anything about it and just said sorry. For what you pay you expect more. The food didn’t come out hot. There was no managers there it seemed in charge of anything. I would look elsewhere for offering with all the new restaurant in town.

In a word management. The management sets the tone for the level of acceptable service. In this case it was amazing. Hannah went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional dining experience. I love the ambiance and music in the bar area the booth section is very comfortable. I have been to the Ocean Club and Beverly Hills locations, while I thoroughly enjoy them Palm Desert is my favorite. We hit a snag when our table wasn’t ready at the time we reserved. We were served lovely cocktails and a seafood tower to make sure we were comfortable with our wait. Best service and delicious dining!!!

3.5 Stars My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here on Thursday. Other than the Palm Desert location, we’ve also dined at the Mastro’s in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach. They have valet service here, but found it unnecessary when we arrived as there was parking in the lot behind. So the parking situation is pretty good at this location. There are also a lot of shops in the vicinity. Our reservation was for 5:00PM, and we arrived around 4:47PM. When we walked through the doors, the hostess saw us, but was on the phone so we stood to the side to wait for her to finish her conversation. A few minutes go by and another couple walk through the doors and wait as well. When she was done, she approached the other man and asked what she could help him with although we were there first. The man was polite and told the hostess that we were waiting first. She checked us in, but stated that the staff was having a meeting and would seat us when they were done. We ended up waiting for about 10 minutes before we were escorted to our table. The one thing that was kind of annoying was how dark it was inside and the light from the lamp wasn’t much help. The table next to us was using a bright flashlight to read the menu. From past experience, my husband and I have always OVER ordered so this year we ordered a Chopped Salad to share instead of getting sides.(Although the lobster mashed potatoes is really good.) My husband ordered the Halibut(which they don’t always have on the menu) and I got the 6 oz Petite Filet. I also ordered a Pomegranate Martini which is my favorite from Mastro’s. However, I was not in love with my Martini($ 19) this time around. I don’t think the person knew how to make it correctly. It was actually syrup-y and my glass was sticky. When I was pouring the rest of my martini into my glass the top fell off. Other than that, our meal was perfect. The bread came out hot, my filet was cooked perfectly and so was my husband’s fish. Because it was our anniversary, they usually give us a free slice of chocolate cake, but it did not occur here. It was an oversight I guess, but I didn’t ask for it because I was full anyway. I still thought our server did a good job. Overall, not the best experience I’ve had at a Mastro’s. If my husband and I were to come out to the area again for dinner, we may just stay within Palm Springs instead of venturing out to Palm Desert. 54⁄100 Reviews for 2016

What an awesome steakhouse, had not been to a Mastro’s before and was curious what the experience would be like. It was defiantly on par with a Fleming’s or Ruth Chris in my opinion. All the traditional entrees you would expect at an American Steakhouse for sure. Food quality was top notch and our server Briana was very knowledgeable !! Five stars !!!

My first time dining here was back in 2014 for our first date with my hubby. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Their steaks are very tasty and juicy. Because I fell in love with their food, we visited their other locations. Mastros ocean club in Malibu is amazing. Very nice view.

Great food, great service, staff is very attentive and big portions are served. Hubby had the bone in porterhouse and I had the twin lobstertail. The lobstertail was delicious but a little undercooked. Other than that everything was great !

We have eaten here, Las Vegas and many of the other cities over the years and always loved it, however, our experience last night was dreadful. I ordered a filet for over 40.00 and it was loaded with fat and impossible to chew. Seems odd for this upscale eatery to serve such a product. Our waitress Rachel called all of us by these endearing names such as «love» etc. very annoying and we finally pointed this out to her and asked her to stop and she totally disappeared and was not seen again It will be a very long time before we return

Thank you Mastro’s for an amazing 3 Aries Birthday Celebration with my Twin and Husband! Your complimentary Renowned Signature Warm Butter Cake and Chocolate Sin Goodness Cake were devoured and well worth the caloric glory! Dinner was fabulous as always and the Live Music and Fine Dining in the lounge is always a memorable experience and is why we keep coming back!

Seems to be the place to come to impress if you’re dining or drinking in the area. The night we came out to dinner, it looked like there was a pretty heavy bar crowd, of mostly older guys and ladies. Age didn’t seem to stop anyone in the crowd from having a fun and lively time. As far as the food, great. That goes without saying. Our server, Cliff, was very polite, and took really great care of us. Not a cheap meal, but well worth it if you’re looking to treat yourself a little bit.

I have to agree with the other reviews. I’m a huge fan of Mastro’s, been to 7 locations across the country and I’m loyal to Mastro’s Beverly Hills. This was a big disappointment last night. It was our anniversary, they always ask when making reservations if you’re celebrating anything special. BH and Malibu consistently go over and above when we celebrate, so we expected at least an acknowledgement when we were greeted by the hostesses. Nothing, zip, nada, and it was early, 6:15, the place was almost empty but they first sat us next to the water station. We rejected that spot and searched out another option. The décor in the 3 dining rooms are stark and had a one note vibe — not at all like the other Mastro’s with indulgent velvet and romantic lighting. We opted for the lounge/bar area which felt more alive. On a positive note, the live music & singer in the lounge was wonderful. She had a beautiful voice and covered great songs! The bar is beautiful, it might be the only spot worth visiting. We ordered our favorites; Shrimp cocktail, Filet Mignon, gnocchi, and martini’s. The food was great, but the service was average. Our server was covering too many tables and while might have had good intentions, really didn’t give us much in the way of a personal touch. We did flag the manager to mention our anniversary and the initial frustrating experience being greeted with the bad table, etc. She tried to make up for it with a butter cake — which you must have if you visit Mastro’s, it’s amazing! However, the meal ended on a worse note when we were inadvertently served full caff coffee when we had ordered decaf. Oy. Up all night. Visiting Palm Springs, I wouldn’t suggest spending the big bucks for a meal here.

Fantastic Steak meets hum-drum service. I still remember my first trip to Mastro’s in Costa Mesa like yesterday. The long dark entrance. The gorgeous columns of glass with thousands of wine bottles contained in them. The buttery scent of charbroiled choice cuts of meat. The white linen seemingly everywhere. Quite a bit has changed in the decade since that visit and since their change into a full blown franchise. Probably my largest concern with Mastro’s Palm Desert is the service. What used to be a stone cold lock for best in class for waitpersons is now pedestrian, borderline poor, across the Mastro’s empire. The friendliness now feels forced and rushed. They are basically just going through the motions and perhaps that is what happens after a decade of supremacy in charred bovine flesh. My last three visits — all at separate location — have been lackluster for Mastro’s former standards and I have to imagine the Landry’s acquisition has everything to do with the change. …and Palm Springs servers are uniquely poor… The cuisine, thankfully, is still very good. Not circa 2004 «Oh my god… this is the greatest steak I have ever had» excellent, but delicious nonetheless. The tender while nutty/buttery Bone In Ribeye still satisfies. The Filet remains delicate and perfectly medium rare. The Gorgonzola Mac & Cheese is still decadent, the Pretzel bread still wow’s the women and the butter cake remains a show stopper. Even the Lobster Mashed Potatoes are still decadent, delicious and completely overpriced. Oh, and on that note — the cost is adjusted for inflation. Expect to drop about a buck-fifty a seat. The remaining baby booming, echo boomers, and Gen X douchebags have not gone anywhere, in fact I think they have grown in numbers in Palm Springs compared to other SoCal locations. I am guessing the locale and aging nearby populaces are behind that trend. It doesn’t take from the food, but if you are looking for a more hip/fun/unpretentious experience you may be best advised to try another of the countless nearby steakhouses. Final word: The service at Mastro’s PaIm Springs certainly sucks but I still cannot help but loving a steak at Mastro’s Steakhouse.

My bach party surprised me and took me to dinner here for our last big shabang. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer restaurant! My MOH reserved a table for 8 and we got a table in the main dining room but just enough to see the live band play in the bar. It was a little tight, but the table was big. It’s a little noisy so don’t expect full on convo. We brought our own wines and the restaurant was very accommodating with chilling our wine. Our service was amazing and we were helped by several servers who were all very friendly. We were provided complimentary bread for our table and we had a variety of breads to choose from. YUM! I ordered the bone in ribeye — med rare. OMG, so delicious!!! Together we all ordered various sides to include the creamed corn, mushrooms, potato cake, mac n cheese and asparagus. My favorite side was the mushrooms — so simple but tons of flavor. The live band was awesome. My entourage requested and dedicated several songs to me and my special occasion. Such a special night!!! Best restaurant in the city. You cannot go wrong with Mastro’s!

It starts with the smoking martini landing on your table. Served up, with plenty of extra in the shaker. Then you dive into Mastro’s seafood tower.(Who knew the seafood could be this good when steak is their specialty?!) It’s time for the main course. That beautiful filet seared to perfection on the outside, and beautifully medium rare within, served on a screaming hot plate. Don’t forget to place some luscious lobster mashed potatoes onto that plate for a beautifully crusted side dish. I’ve rinsed/repeated the above many times, each as wonderful as the time before it. I love the dark restaurant, the true ‘steakhouse vibe’, the very attentive servers, and the live music in the bar as the evenings progress. Mastro’s is my favorite steak house with incredible food.

Australian Wagyu 30oz… MUSTORDER! Mastros is my favorite steak restaurant. Compared to Cut, Mortons, Ruth Chris, Flemings… you get the idea. However, compared to their porterhouse, I’d only get this wagyu steak from now on. My husband and I shared this huge bone in massive piece of meat that reminds you of Fred Flintstone devouring it as Dino patiently waits. Our dogs sure had a feast with the leftover meat on the bone! No room for dessert.

I have been on a quest of tasting the cuisine at every Mastro’s location. 3 down and a whole bunch to go. Was in town for the weekend, a much needed girls weekend. Low and Behold it was Palm Springs restaurant week. Yay! What better time to try Mastro’s than when its cheap. So, we came. :LOCATION/AMBIANCE: OK, for those of you who aren’t familiar with this area, lean in let me whisper something to you. Palm Springs and Palm Desert are not the same place. Lol I didn’t realize this until we had 5 minutes to arrive to the restaurant but GPS said it was going to take 21. Whoops. So, if you are in Palm Springs give yourself time. Mastro’s is located in what seems to be a nice area of high-end shops and eateries. Valet is complimentary. Yes, it be free. The restaurant is large but not overwhelming. Dark and sexy as you’d expect. A grand foyer welcomes you as you wait to be seated. There are two dining rooms and a bar area which has a live band. :SERVICE: Service was great. Our waitress was amazing, energetic and lively. I don’t remember her name… sorry, blame the wine. But she was awesome. :FOOD: So, it was Restaurant Week so there was a pri-fixe menu for $ 38. Appetizer — Spicy Mambo Salad, I’ve had this salad before and was totally blown away by it. It didn’t have enough«mambo» here. there really wasn’t any spice honestly. Entrée — Pork Chop. Oh My Gawd. This Pork Chop was truly amazing. Tender, Juicy, Well-Seasoned. PERFECT. 8oz of juicy meat, yum. There was an apple maple sauce to accompany it which really kicked it up a notch. Other guests in my party had the filet which they raved about. Sides — The Garlic Mashed Potatoes was creamy and delicious, could use a bit more garlic. The Creamed Spinach was to die for. It was creamy but not watery, seasoned and yummy. I loved it. Dessert — Cheesecake, Wonderful. Butter Cake… YOUALREADYKNOW. We had a bottle of Château St. Jean Cabernet, excellent choice. Here is where things got interesting… There was a fight! Lol, yes… the table next to us, well guys drinking equal someone getting slapped. Food and a Show. It didnt get out of hand, but it got awkward quick, Love this place and cant wait to come back. Mastros you did it again.
