Perfect Weather

I’ve been waiting patiently to write a review for Perfect Weather. The first time around, they were absolutely amazing. The second time we called them the professionalism seemed to vanish. The prices seem to sky-​rocket, and they rescheduled our appointment 3 times at each time we were notified on the day of the appointment. Finally had them arrive and, the same technician showed up (James), which we were relieved as he was very good the first time around. He quoted us a price and gave us the option to purchase the part on our own as it would be much cheaper. He gave us an install price of $ 150 and that he would return when we had the part. We had the part in two days and called them back. They scheduled us 3 weeks out for the install, which is ridiculous. We accepted as it wasn’t an emergency to get this fixed. Today we get a call to confirm the appointment for today and now the price for install went up from $ 150 to $ 500.
Needless to say, i would never recommend this business. They are inconsistent, bait and switch method of working, unethical, unprofessional, and take advantage of customers… We will report them to BBB, Palm Desert City, and Palm Springs City as these types of businesses do not belong in our community. Shady business… stay away…

David Cullen, President at Perfect Weather Air Conditioning, is one of the few AC contractors that I would actually allow to work on my own home. To me, an HVAC company is either a traditional, industry standard type of company, or they are a performance based AC company that sells delivered performance rather than just shinny new equipment. Perfect Weather AC is a performance based contractor who strives to deliver efficiency, indoor air quality, comfort & system durability by addressing the the system as a whole rather than just the shinny new equipment.
If you are serious about purchasing an HVAC system that delivers performance, I would absolutely recommend Dave at Perfect Weather Air Conditioning!

Dave & James saved us last night. After traveling 2hrs to our vacation condo in Palm Desert, arriving hungry and ready to go to dinner (knowing the condo would be too hot), we went there first to make sure the A/​C was on. Our Nest thermostat had been offline and we weren’t able to turn it on remotely before we left for the desert. After spending ½ hr on the phone with Nest, it was determined that is was not a thermostat issue. So I called Dave for help. He walked me through a few things over the phone that determined he needed to send a repair tech onsite. I explained how hot our place was and that we wouldn’t be able to sleep. He immediately sent James over who fixed the problem.
My girlfriend commented that she was surprised that he was able to accommodate us on a Friday night. I told her that his business is to make sure his clients are comfortable and that means being able to address these types of situations ²⁴⁄₇. HVAC equipment doesn’t break down based on standard business hours. Being able to correct problems so that his customers stay comfortable can make or break an HVAC business! Dave «gets this», and i, like the rest of his customers, REALLY appreciate it. Thanks Dave & James.

I cannot stress how disappointed I am in Perfect Weather.
Missed appointments and inability to correct deficiencies
in a system installed by Perfect Weather itself
disqualifies this company, in my opinion.
There are many options in the Coachella Valley
for air conditioning work.
I cannot recommend Perfect Weather.

I really wanted to give Perfect Weather a great review, because Dave saved us last year on a Saturday, for no additional overtime charge. Very knowledgable man.
However, on a recent maintenance checkup and filter change, the tech recommended almost 2K as a band-​aid to avoid summer breakdowns!
I then called the AC unit manufacturer and read them what the tech wrote up… they actually laughed and said they had no clue what that meant. We then called another local company for a 2^nd opinion who also shook their heads!
So just beware and do your homework if time and temperatures allow. Bottom line is that they are service writers much like your auto dealership and if it’s 110 outside and you have no AC, you will pay just about anything they say to get it running.

My review of Perfect Weather comes with mixed feelings. However more bad than good.
The first time I called them, It was 12:30 AM on Friday night of Labor Day Weekend… we just got to Palm Desert for the weekend. Our A/​C was not working and the house was HOT! I called, and within 30 – 45 minutes Dave was at our door… YES Approx 1:00 AM. He troubleshot the problem and had it up and running in maybe 30 minutes or so. Dave to the rescue! Really nice guy and knowledgeable. $ 125.00 Emergency service call… no problem as far as I was concerned. We even gave him a $ 20.00 tip for being so quick, and cool! A+
I had meant to write a review then, but forgot. 5 stars that day!
So a belated 5 stars Dave!
Second call was last weekend 10÷19÷14 …Now, Sunday night 11:30 PM and I have figured out that our condenser (on the outside of the house) wasn’t shutting off at all… even if I turned the A/​C off. Big problem! Again, called them, and after some minutes on the phone with the answering service, they connect me to Dave. He instructs me to just shut the circuit breaker for the condenser off for the night, and I’ll avoid the after hours service call charge. He knew exactly what the problem was over the phone, and he’d send someone out first thing the next morning. Sure as stuff, James called at 8:30, and Showed up at approx 9:00 9:30. He brought the appropriate part with him, and in approximately 15 minutes changed it out. He did one other small thing to the filter on our unit, and in less than an hour he was done. Service call $ 65.00 but the part was $ 325.00!!! I know a good amount about what they’re doing (as I’m a licensed General Contractor). so I questioned the part price. In 2 seconds I looked up the part online (an electrical contactor that they use in a Rheem unit. check it out and Google: «Rheem condenser contactor».) To my surprise, the part costs approx $ 13.00 to $ 30.00 online. $ 30.00!!! and they charge $ 325.00! I called their office to question it, and a different James in the office confirmed the price and said that the price came straight from Dave (the owner). Second visit…$ 390.00 paid to them, out the door.
Long story short: Service calls fairly priced and guys are nice, but if you need parts, beware, because they evidently charge ONE THOUSAND percent parkup or probably more. No joke… do the math.
Not happy, and I won’t roll the dice on calling them again. God forbid I actually need an expensive part, because at that rate, a $ 100.00 part will cost you a thousand dollars. Yep, that’s the math. You want to roll the dice? Go ahead, have fun.
On the truck «Honest and Ethical». One thousand percent markup on parts is neither honest, nor ethical.

Boy am I glad I contacted Dave and Perfect Weather. After using other better known services in the desert, I decided to use a Southern California Edison approved and recommended service to replace my old a/​c. Dave’s goal was to provide the most appropriately sized unit for my condo, not just sell me the largest and most expensive product possible. The work was completed quickly and efficiently and the final result was a smaller, QUIETER, more efficient a/​c heater system at a fair price. Plus a rebate from SCE. I highly recommend Perfect Weather.

I’m writing this a day after Dave came and repaired our AC. It is back to normal after a nightmare encounter with a different «big-​box» contractor we called out to do a Summer «Tune-​Up» special. Lesson learned «if it ain’t broke…»
BTW — beware Home Depot Home Services. Their goal is to get you to spend a lot of money. They actually broke my working system when «tuning it up».
Disingenuous at best to then offer to repair or replace at highly inflated price.
Call Perfect Weather if you want a competent, honest, ethical contractor at a reasonable price.
Dave was running early and called ahead to make sure it was OK. Heck yes, it is 104 outside! He came, diagnosed and FIXED the problem (with new parts he had to go get all in about two hours total time. The charges were almost ¹⁄₃ the price quoted by the big-​box retailer’s service provider. He also offered lots of free advice to optimize our old HVAC system and reduce electric bills.
I agree with all the other positive comments posted here. I have NO DOUBT that Perfect Weather will receive my future business and high recommendations.

Furnace Problem but was told really needed a newer system by 2 other company’s. Incredible… We had two other businesses out about our problem each stating we needed a new system, bad circuit board due to water damage, old system 1976 and we were having to spend up to $ 7000. wow Luckily I had another opinion with Perfect Weather who took one look at the heater and said he could fix it and which was a matter of turning on gas and plugging in and testing it out. Circuit Board was fine and no visible water damage. Fixed easily but what a relief after the other estimates for repair. Then Dave walked away saying NO CHARGE. Moral to this situation get other opinions and Call Perfect Weather.

Dave saves the day again!!!
He came to repair our heater a few days before Thanksgiving. He thoroughly inspected everything and diagnosed the problem within a matter of minutes. He couldn’t fix it his initial visit because we needed to order a new part. Dave took care of everything and even followed up to let us know when the part would be arriving. Our new part arrived the day before Thanksgiving, I was expecting to see him after the holiday, but he offered to come by Thanksgiving Eve. Haha, I was very pleasantly surprised and super grateful that he took time out of his very busy schedule to come by and install it for us. He kept everything clean and tidy. He is extremely detail oriented and meticulous. But most importantly, he kept my toddler from freezing and for that, I am most grateful!

We purchased a home in Palm Desert last February. In June the air conditioning stopped working. Called an air conditioning specialist I found in the phone book. He came out and $ 400 later I was up and running. The trouble was he didn’t fix our system. Six pounds of refrigerant leaked out over the summer. He never checked the entire system for leaks. I called Perfect Weather after reading reviews in Unilocal.They came out and discovered that our condenser was leaking. It was rusted out and in need of replacement. The expertise and honest method in which our system was repaired was impressive. Carter Mendoza knew just what to do and did it with the utmost professionalism. Our system was a bit of an antique, but that didn’t slow Carter down. He made all the modifications necessary to make our air conditioning system work. I cannot recommend Perfect Weather any higher. The cost was also a surprise. Considering the amount of work involved installing our new condenser and doing the necessary sheet metal work to make it fit (two men for one day), I thought the final cost was quite reasonable. When you find a business with this kind of integrity and expertise you have to let others know.

Let me tell you this! We felt blessed to have to call another CO. after we where told that we had to replace our Air! David came out after hours on a Friday found the leak fixed it also found our compressor was bad and got us a new one, While not having to
«Replace» our system. He offered tips on filters, damp adjusting all kinds of good info! The guy knows his stuff and Didn’t try and take advantage of us. Really appreciate his honesty and integrity! Well be passing his cards out galore to friends! Thanks David!

I recommend Dave Cullen and Perfect Weather enthusiastically and without hesitation. Dave is the consummate professional. He is exceptionally well versed in his field. I do not recall, ever, working with a technical contractor who is so expert in his field… Dave just leaves everyone else in the dust, and by a very wide margin. He took an abundance of time to analyze and study our entire HVAC system before making recommendations as to an appropriate solution for the issues we were wrestling with. He thoroughly explained his proposal, why he was making his recommendations, and why they differed from other proposals we received. Dave explained complex issues such as tonnage, convection, and related aspects of heating, cooling and ventilation, and did so in a way that was thorough but understandable by a lay person. He saved us a tremendous amount of money and truly added value far beyond what other contractors could have. Interestingly, no other contractor identified the root cause that Dave did, and no other proposal, as it happens, would have solved the problem we were trying to address. All of them would have cost us many multiples of what Perfect Weather cost.
Bottom line: if you live in the Palm Springs and surrounding areas, be sure to contact Dave. He is now my «go to» guy for everything HVAC-​related.

When you call a contractor, you expect to reach a professional who will provide an honest evaluation and not try to sell you a bill of goods or something you don’t need. With Perfect Weather, you get exactly that: Dave is courteous, trustworthy, clear, knowledgeable. My husband (a former contractor and science geek) says Dave is on the level of an aerospace technician. He is truly an EXPERT in his field, for both residential and commercial customers. This type of expertise is hard to find. We highly recommend his service.

I had a complete system replacement for 7 zones. He delivered and showed up as promised. His workmanship and character is outstanding. I would recommend him highly to anyone seeking repair or replacement. I also find his pricing competitive and fair.
