Golden West Pool Repair

My Home owners insurance recommend Golden West after a horrible experience with another one of their vendors. I was relieved when their tech came out and not only quickly diagnosed the problem but explained everything to me. He and the girls making the calls were all very friendly. I ONLY use them and have told my warranty company not to even try sending anyone else. Don’t be fooled by other reviews this company in my opinion is the best

Our home warranty company arranged for Golden West to service our pool equipment. After reading their Unilocal reviews we were somewhat apprehensive of the quality we would receive. I am happy to say they couldn’t have been better. They were courteous and knowledgeable. Alex was the service technician. We couldn’t have been more pleased.

Yes, I too am a victim of this terrible company thanks to my home warranty. Two visits, each by different technicians, and the problem I am having with my pool is still not resolved. One of the technicians who I cannot recall the name of as he is truly forgettable, was arrogant and couldn’t be bothered. He actually waited in the truck as he sent his minion over to write a receipt for my payment. They stated that the issue was resolved on their first visit, yet the problem still persisted. When I attempted to reach their office the next day to let them know they needed to come back out, I must have called 20 times well after 9am. Their voicemail would come on after about 4 rings, and the mailbox was conveniently full. An hour later I finally reached a live person and explained the problem. They scheduled the second appointment. Totally different technician, and a different diagnosis. I was told the part had to be ordered and he went on his way. Fast forward to two weeks later, no part, the warranty company states they will not cover what Golden West stated was wrong, yet my pool man insists that the issue with the pool has nothing to do with what Golden West states. At this point, I am having another company inspect the problem. Anything is better than this terrible company. Between the home warranty company and Golden West, they are perpetrating fraud on unsuspecting customers.

Horrible. Avoid at all costs. They can’t diagnosis a simple issue, took over 4 weeks and still didn’t fix issue. Fought with them and American home shield with no resolution. They will deflect their incompetence and blame everything from the gas meter to misuse of chemicals to avoid fixing a simple item. They left heater unit disassembled and in disarray. They never return phone calls to provide status or leave paperwork describing what was done or planned to be done.

AVOID Golden West Pool Repair and American Home Shield!
10 days ago I sent Tony (of Golden West Pool Repair) the following message:
«Hello, Tony! I’ve read the reviews of your company (on Google and Unilocal)…mostly VERY negative… but AHS [American Home Shield, my homeowner’s warranty company] has „referred“ you to me… so here we go!» I then described to him my pool problem that needed fixing.
I got a call later that day from Tony’s receptionist. She explained that most of the negative reviews of Golden West are lies, written by disgruntled customers whose claims were denied because they were not covered under warranty. I told this woman I didn’t want to use Golden West because of all the negative reviews, but I had no choice; they were the only company «authorized» by AHS.
I said I would give Tony and Golden West Pool Repair one chance to redeem themselves. She said, «I know you’ll be putting this on Unilocal,etc.»
So you’d THINK they’d try to do a good job, right?
The appointment was FIVE DAYS in advance. At the appointed time, Golden West never showed. The woman called the next day to explain why:
«The technician said nobody was home.»
I told her I was home all day, waiting.
«Actually, he wrote „No Access“ on the service order. So you must live in a gated community. He couldn’t get in the gate.»
«The gate was wide open all day!»
«He didn’t have your phone number to contact you.»
«You’re calling me on that very same phone number right now!»
«Well, the soonest we can get back out there is this Friday» (four days later).
This is the excrement Tony’s company shovels all day. This is what ALL the negative reviews describe. Lying. Blaming the customer. Failure to perform. Golden West Pool Repair’s poor reputation is WELL deserved.
American Home Shield deserves an equally poor reputation for employing Golden West. I told AHS I didn’t want to use that company and they FORCED me, too, anyway, despite the plethora of negative reviews.
I finally resorted to fixing the problem myself. (Maybe this is part of AHS’s HORRIBLE business plan: stall, delay and deny until the customer gives up!)
In my opinion, Golden West Pool Repair and American Home Shield deserve HORRIBLE ratings. Maybe you should do business with other companies.

Facts: Anthony Smith is the owner. He has serviced my pool/​spa system for four years and we have an amicable relationship with American Home Shield.
We work together as service provider and client. I have always been happy with Golden after my first AHS contracted renegade encounter with some unknown «cowboy» who messed up my electronic control center in 2011. They sent Golden out to replace this out of town clown. Since that time Golden has been my ONLY service provider with or without AHS. Just today Anthony came out and quickly diagnosed and repaired my pool/​spa heater problem. 27 Nov. 2015.

Doesn’t return calls. Not sure if is business anymore. Shame. Used them before in the pay and they were always responsive.

This has to be one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with. They don’t answer phones, don’t arrive when scheduled, take forever to book appointment. Overall a terrible experience. I can’t imagine how they stay in business. Run fast, run very fast. If your home insurance provider suggests golden west pools immediately ask for a different company, save yourself weeks of frustration and headaches.

Thanks for telling the home warranty company that my pool pump timer failure was abnormal wear and tear. Now they won’t cover the repair. This is certainly not what the technician said while at my home.

Our home warranty company, American Home Shield, sent them out to fix our pool. They misdiagnosed the problem, telling us that the Multi-​media board needed to be replaced. Our pool man said the problem was the salr-​water cell and even had it tested. We asked for a second opinion and another company came out and fixed the salt cell without any problems.
I would recommend Platinum Pool Service instead!

5 stars is how I would rate Their worker Alex. Super sexy I’d let him fix my pump and then reach down my pants to get paid if you know what I mean.

Our home warranty program, Old Republic Home Warranty, chose Golden West Pool & Spa when I reported a broken spa heater. Going online and reading the reviews here made me. less than enthusiastic about the upcoming experience.
Given my positive experience, I thought it would be almost unfair if I didn’t leave a positive review though! Timeline: reported broken spa heater online Monday evening, received scheduling call from Golden West on Tuesday morning, technician came out Wednesday morning and diagnosed problem, apologized that he didn’t have the part to fix it (new logic board) with him, received follow-​up scheduling call very next day, technician came out Friday morning and installed logic board, replaced blown fuse, and everything was up and running.
No fuss, no mess, just fixed the problem about as quickly as I could have asked for.

One of the WORST pool repair companies ever!!! AHS will send them to your home they will collect your $ 75 service fee stay for 5 minutes and DO NOTHNG ! The tech will say they have no parts to fix your electrical problem right then and there because he didn’t have a GFI on his truck, disconnected wires, capped them off, then proceeded tell me he would take pictures and submit to AHS for approval. I get a call the next day saying the technician found no electrical issue and the claim would be denied. Only to have someone else come out for a second opinion and have the same situation approved!!! I had an electrical problem with my pool equipment that was the point of calling AHS to begin with… If this company wasn’t so lazy to figure that out other than collect the $ 75 service fee for doing NOTHING maybe they would have better reviews on here! But it’s seems they are satisfied making there $ 75 service fee for 5 minutes and ripping people off! Sad way to run a business!

Since I fired Golden West Pool Repair (after only one month of some of the worst service and most unethical business practices I have ever witnessed in my life), I found a trustworthy and very knowledgeable pool service. Not surprisingly, when they evaluated my pool, the salt content in the pool was very high and the salt catalyst encrusted with salt.
I noted the security camera on the roof when I hired them.

Golden West Pool Repair came out and fixed my spa heater! I am ever so happy about that! They came when I was not home! I left the gate open for them and by the time I arrived home and turned on the spa heater, it worked beautifully!!!
The only problem was the $ 5.00 extra charge for using a credit card. I don’t pay to use my own money! So I simply mailed them a check for the fee due by my home warranty company. When they received the check, they came and finished the service! I am really happy that all went well after reading all those scary reviews!
In a situation like this, just leave the gate open and mail a check. No need to be there to increase a negative situation. All went well.

I had to use this company through my American Home Shield contract. The technician came early, agreed with me what the problem was (shaft seal on pool pump) and fixed it. I paid my $ 75 deductible and all was fine.
I went today to try to put in another service request and AHS said I owed the $ 75 service fee. I checked my bank account and sure enough, the check was deposited into their BofA account the same day and cleared my bank the next day. I spoke to AHS and they said when Golden West billed them they indicated that they did not get paid. My receipt says paid with my check number on it. My check cleared with the service call number on it, but they are trying to get paid twice. AHS called them but they did not answer the phone. My choice is to double pay or wait until this gets straightened out.
WARNING: never pay them cash and be sure the service call number is on your check.

HORRIBLE SERVICE, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
I have had these people out to a rental property twice to repair a heater and auto fill on our pool and spa. Both times the guys just came out looked around and then left. I am now unable to get a hold of them or have them contact me to inform me of what work they preformed. I am now fighting with my home warranty company to get them to make good on the work they supposedly performed.

WORST… SERVICE…EVER
Old Republic sent these jokers out to fix my heater, and after SIX — count em — SIX visits, they still could not get my spa or pool to heat up. Thankfully, after 4 months I insisted my work order be transferred to Desert Penguin Pools, who is doing a masterful job of fixing my system. Rude technicians, bad communication, poor response times to voice mails, and don’t even ask them to work on Saturdays — if you have half a year on your hands and can be patient in getting your system fixed, call Golden West Pool Repair.

Anthony & Casey were here to address an issue I had with the pool/​spa heater. He replaced a box inside of the unit and the spa is SMOKIN’.
Anthony is very knowledgable and the job was completed within twenty minutes. They even called later to make sure the heater was kickin’. This was an Old Republic home warranty referral but I would not hesitate to call Golden West in the future.
