The Chesterfield

My wedding ceremony was held here. Without mentioning names or titles I was very disappointed with the lack of service I paid for and expected from a «Palm Beach Hotel». Next to none of my emails, phone calls, or inquiries were answered. I had to drop in without an appointment to get any of my questions answered. The ceremony itself did go surprisingly well, which was very unexpected. What I did expect was better service to a paying customer. If someone has decided to celebrate one of the biggest moments in their lives at your venue, the least you can do is return a phone call or email. Just saying. :(

The rooms are well appointed but small. My room was particularly noisy as i found out that one side of the room abutted a service corridor and elevator — lots of things slamming around (bins of laundry being «bumper-​carred» down the hall) and I think I must have been just over the kitchen too, with yelling and the sound of plates and silver clattering together. I’d retire that room from use, unless the intent is to dissuade a customer from coming back (message received!).
It is a boutique hotel. It appears to have some nice amenities and I liked the location, but I can’t say I felt welcome.

The Chesterfield is indescribable. Like nowhere else you’ve been. Nothing is perfect yet everything is. Like being home and away at the same time. And, then, there’s the iconic Leopard Lounge. During the day it is a restaurant. At night it turns into a place to dance and watch, where the crowd seems to have been cast by both John Waters and Fellini. Go with an open mind and you will find yourself in the middle of a story where no one knows the ending.

My hubby and I have family here in Lake Worth area & we LOVE staying at The Chesterfield! We have been coming here for years and with two different Maine Coon cat rescues, Desi & now Kismet, and just love this place. We just stayed there (8÷4÷15) in a renovated room and it was as classy as it gets. We once stayed at a chain motel years ago, and it was horrible and we had 2 large lizards on the ceiling there and had to move to another room. Luckily, our then-​cat spotted them and even though I am a native Floridian, I am used to lizards but not in a motel room! Never seen any lizards in our rooms here and we have been coming here for years. Also, the food in the lounge area is INCREDIBLE.

Mother’s Day Brunch
My daughter and I were late in deciding where to go for Mother’s Day and were relieved when we found out the Chesterfield had a special brunch we could take advantage of. We called and the description of the food available on the buffet sounded great. It was pricy at $ 79/​pp, but we thought it would be worth it. We were wrong.
We had a 2pm seating and the restaurant was mostly empty when we walked in, which surprised me. Water was poured, and we set off to try some of the food. There were basically 4 buffet tables One held salad and fixings, french toast, sausage, bacon, fried potatoes, salmon in a sauce, Duck a l’Orange, «Lobster» Eggs Benedict, and green beans, next to a small table set up as a carving station with what I believe was a tenderloin, then a table with caviar and crackers (?), cold cooked shrimp, bagels, smoked salmon and crème cheese, adjacent to a manned station for omelets, and finally a dessert table.
My daughter and I ordered Mimosas which we hoped were included, but I found out this was not the case when the bill came. Quite honestly, every brunch I have been to with a price tag like that included at least one Mimosa per person and I feel it is an extreme oversight on the Chesterfield’s part not to do so.
If the brunch had been $ 25/​pp it may have been worth it. But at $ 79 each, it was not. One of the items the host had mentioned specifically when I’d called to reserve was a Lobster Eggs Benedict. I was excited about it until I began eating it. First of all, the small shreds of lobster that were barely visible were not even remotely discernible due to the fact the Canadian Bacon (which I think should be removed in his case) overpowered it. The English muffin was also rubbery and difficult to cut.
The Duck a l’Orange was tasteless and the salmon overcooked. The caviar was awful; salty and overpowering. I know they can’t serve «fine caviar» since it is too expensive, but I say leave it off altogether if it is so inferior a grade. There were no blini for the caviar either, only crackers. I did ask about Blini and the chef made some for me which was nice. There was a bland selection of bagels with no toaster in sight. To me a «raw» bagel is not appealing. The dessert table held no interest for me and the one thing I did try, a chocolate mousse, was so forgettable I ended up only taking one bite.
I have no idea what their regular menu is like, but I will not be back to the Chesterfield for any future brunches and don’t recommend it; especially for the price!

I went on a Saturday afternoon for the Victorian Era afternoon tea. They have two actresses play the part of Victorian Era women and they do a 30 minute skit before you dine on the delicious treats. You need at least 15 guests and must prepay ahead of time. About $ 45/​person.
It included a candle to take home, boas to wear at the tea, tea, AWESOME sandwiches (salmon, tuna, egg salad, cucumber, tomato/​cheese), brownies, fruit tart, carrot cake cupcake, cream puff, AWESOME scone and freshly made clotted cream. All baked goods were made on premise.
This is the best tea food I have had. The staff was good. The tea was in the Panther Lounge.
There is complimentary valet. The hotel has tremendous character and history. I suggest you check it out!

We spent the week with our two children.
The staff is fantastic and took wonderful care of us.
The breakfast buffet has everything you could want including fresh fruit smoothies!
I enjoyed sitting in the courtyard for an early morning espresso.
Just a short walk to Worth Ave, the beach, and the inter coastal trail.

A real treat for tea! So wonderful. I took my Grandmother for her 90^th birthday week long celebration and she absolutely loved it!!! I had the gluten free scones and delicious is an understatement. I tried the regular sones too and yummy too.

Great little boutique hotel in the center of Palm Beach.
Service service service. Stayed here for a night for a family members 60^th bday and the service was great. Anything you ever needed was a call away and the entire hotel staff remembered my name during the entire tenure of my stay.
The rooms are adequate, nothing to be blown away by but nothing to hide from either.
I would absolutely recommend this boutique hotel.

What an amazing hotel experience. So unbelievably friendly and accommodating in every way. We got there early and they have us early check in and found out our flight was leaving later and gave us extra late checkout. The vibe was very homey and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and their staff is amazing! My fiancé proposed there last weekend after the Dave Matthews concert and the staff could not have been more wonderful. They helped arranged drivers for the evening, decorated our room with roses, rose petals, champaign, and chocolate covered strawberries while we were gone, and the next morning they were all so kind and seemed genuinely happy for us. They truly know how to make guests feel welcomed. We will be going back there whenever we’re in West Palm!

I really liked this little boutique hotel. Love the old time feel of it. I went on a solo trip down memory lane to Palm Beach (having moved from WPB 25 years ago) and this hotel was one recommended by my American Express travel. I loved being so close to Worth Avenue and the ocean. I visited the Leopard Lounge for breakfast and lunch, but not for drinks in the evening (because I’d already had too many martinis at lunch!), and both times, the food was excellent and the service was superb. For breakfast, you must try the smoked salmon benedict. HUGE portion and absolutely delish! The turkey club at lunch was fantastic and the french fries were the thick cut kind I like. Not a big fan of those tiny little fries. I mean, what’s the point? I need a big, fat potato! Oh man, that didn’t sound right… lol
I did have room service one night, as well. The lobster risotto was off the chain. Best I’ve had in a very long time. Coffee downstairs in the lobby each morning was nice and rich (I hate weak coffee). So good, I went back for a second cup, which is not usual for me, but then again, I do love good coffee.
Anyway, the hotel staff was just great and very accommodating as well. The valets were hard working guys and super nice.
Loved this place and will definitely stay again!

One of the main reasons I really like the Chesterfield is that it is a smaller hotel, what one might appropriately term as being a boutique hotel. Hence very little need to worry about getting caught up in the midst of a bustling convention or having to put up with a bunch of out to party conventioneers. Things are unrushed, the staff has time to pay attention to every detail, remember your name and always seem available to render professional assistance with your needs.
Though the rooms are a little on the smallish side and have an old time appearance as if possible having been decorated by your grandmother and a tad bit on the frumpish, certainly well done and pleasant enough.
The amenities such as the pool are in spotlessly in order showing attention to every detail and the floral displays throughout are breathtaking in beauty. The open patio along the entrance way is perfect and the adjoining Leopard Lounge unique, upper crust stately with excellent service along with really good food.
Also, as realtor would say, it’s location, location and location; and as such the Chesterfield has it. It’s located on a quiet street within easy walking distance of Worth Avenue which has the finest for top of the line shopping.
Though everything in Palm Beach is expensive, relatively speaking, I found the Chesterfield far more reasonable than most.

Fantastic & Authentic Afternoon tea. If ever you get to stay at The Chesterfield Hotel, Palm Beach… expect to be treated like royalty where no detail is too small and no request is too big!

The hotel itself is quite nice and the service is excellent. However, the Leopard Lounge and Restaurant is a real question mark. One would think that being in a classy and expensive boutique hotel that the restaurant would have the same elegant atmosphere. Unfortunately it is over-​priced and mediocre food along with blaring, cheesy music, which you can hear pounding in your hotel room. Not what I would expect at a hotel that charges $ 400+ per night. My family and I came to Palm Beach to rest and relax not be the victims of the 60 and over crowd reliving their frat party days.

I am not one to dole out perfect reviews but in the case of the Chesterfield I will make an exception. There was literally nothing to complain about during my 4-​day stay, much less enough time to praise the service and amenities offered. I have stayed here several times in the past years with my family during November and March, and it’s no secret that I keep coming back. The entrance, breakfast courtyard are inviting with wood and yellow accents, twinkling lights dot the ivy gardens and the lobby is quaint with cookies and candy offered during tea time. We were lucky enough to stay in the two-​bedroom suite with a living room and three bathrooms, and the bed was perfection, room always clean with treats waiting for us every evening. They also provide bathrobes.
But perhaps the greatest thing about this hotel is its restaurant, the Leopard Lounge, which boasts fantastic continental breakfast every morning and a full lunch, dinner, and bar menu. At night the place is a scene with live music and a great crowd. Make sure to check out the pool and hot tub, which are just intimate enough to enjoy.

being lucky to have won a free weekend staycation here during Sunfest, I can say this hotel was fantastically great. the service, the rooms, the pool, the leopard lounge where bfast is served, even though we asked for our bfast via room service one morning, as well as a drunken order of a turkey sandwich late night, and a few beers, service, staff, seriously, all 5stars plus.

Stayed there for a «staycation» off of a Travel Zoo deal and were very happy with everything; amenities, service, room, staff, food, drinks.
It was a bumpy start since we were literally the first people to redeem this voucher, but they figured it out quick. The bartender (pretty blonde, can’t remember her name) was a blast and treated us like regulars immediately.
Our room was beautiful. A bit small, but cozy would be the proper word to describe it. We opted for the queen size bed in the all white room because of the amazing décor. It also overlooked the pool which was very Palm Beach proper.
With regards to pricing, it was very fair, especially for Palm Beach. Close walk to Worth Ave and concierge gave us phenomenal advise on where to eat and even provided us with special offers and happy hour times.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone.

I was in Palm Beach for a business trip, and this was the hotel recommended to me. I was perfectly happy with it. It’s a historic boutique hotel in the heart of Palm Beach.
They have done a lot of renovations recently, which I think may have addressed some of the problems that Kelly M mentioned. The décor – while a little over the top in common spaces – was tasteful and cute in the rooms. I would say that the rooms themselves were on the small side, but it was perfectly comfortable, with a lot of closet space. The bathrooms were also a bit small, but had nice fixtures and was pleasant for a long bath. The hotel is part of a British chain, and you can see aspects of that in the interior design.
I only went to the Leopard Lounge late one night, after most of the characters had left. It seemed like a really happening spot – but I think you’d have to be about 20 years older than me to really enjoy it.
The restaurant was good, although pricey.
The pool is fantastic, and was the perfect spot to lounge in the sun. There was complimentary lemonade, water, oranges and apples by the pool, which was a really nice touch.
I really enjoyed my stay, but I to think that it is missing a few things that I would expect from a five star hotel. There is no wireless access (they do give you an ethernet cable if you request one – and the internet is free). The valet was complimentary, but the one guy running it seemed a little stressed out at times and took quite a while to appear at one point. However, there were lots of nice touches – jelly beans and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby, free use of computers/​printers in two separate lounges, complimentary drink vouchers for each night that I stayed, and a lovely drinks reception to celebrate the opening of their redecorated courtyard.
It was definitely a pleasant hotel and very Palm Beachy. It’s gotten to where most hotels are so modern/​stark that it was a kind-​of nice change.

If there were ever a hotel modeled after myself and style, the Chesterfield would be it. Clearly I think of myself as a 5 star person. ;-) I love love love this hotel! I have traveled somewhat extensively throughout the world and I have a reputation for having high expectations and standards. I had a special feeling about the hotel when I came across it in my search for lodging in Palm Beach, and it surpassed all expectations.
It’s a totally old school establishment, and I don’t imagine it’s changed much since my Gram’s era.
It’s obvious as soon as you walk through the courtyard and into the lobby that much planning and effort was put into the décor. It’s evident everywhere, from the lovely floral arrangements to the unique trim that borders the pillows on the plush furniture in the lobby.
It’s in a residential area, but it’s only a few blocks away from Worth Avenue and the shops and restaurants. And the beach! All are walking distance away.
The swimming pool area was my favorite part of staying at the hotel. I guess the pool is a bit on the small side for today’s standards, but who cares. It’s absolutely lovely. Beautiful geraniums are everywhere and the red & white striped awnings shielded me a bit from the sun. I truly felt like a movie star laying out in the sun. The only thing missing was the pool boy. ;-)
Anyways, I think that it’s an incredible value for the area, and I fell in love all over again with Florida when i was there.
