Hyatt Place West Palm Downtown

I had a great stay at this hotel over the weekend. If I ever visit West Palm again, I will come back to this hotel.
The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Chanel (I think that is how you spell her name) at the check-​in desk was such a doll! She was upbeat, personable, and very welcoming. She really set the tone for the rest of our stay, so I am glad I got the chance to interact with her. The rest of the staff are wonderful as well.
Our room was clean, spacious, quiet, and had a very comfortable king sized bed. It does have somewhat of a weird layout, but it made the room feel more like a suite, as it sections the bed from the seating area.
Another reviewer mentioned the hallways are long. That is true. Not a huge deal but when you want to walk to the elevator or to get ice, you might want to put on some sneakers and a sweat band depending on how far down your room is.
The elevator is not slow in the slightest. We stayed on the 5^th floor and had no trouble getting from floor to floor quickly.
Speaking of the 5^th floor: I paid extra for a high floor (in order to have a nice view), but the view was a dismal parking lot and a giant wall. That being said, I think the 5^th floor is more quiet than the lower floors… so perhaps that is worth the premium.
Parking is $ 20 for each night you are there. A little pricey for parking, seeing how it isn’t a large bustling city.
I will say that Hyatt redeems themselves with the offer of a free breakfast buffet with eggs, breakfast sandwiches, sausage, french toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal… etc. We saved a good amount of money by eating at the hotel. So I am almost okay with paying $ 20 for parking.
This hotel does not have a pool but they do have a hot spa and a cold spa. I really couldn’t care less about a pool but it was nice to have the hot spa at the end of the day. They also have a pretty private gym that I had no intention of using but still appreciated it being there.
The proximity of this hotel to shopping and dining is extremely convenient. We walked to both CityPlace and Clematis both were roughly a 10 minute walk which was not bad at all. We felt very safe in the area, even when walking back late in the evening. We also took an Über from the hotel to each place and it was only $ 5 for each ride.
Highly recommended if you want a nice, clean place to sleep, with a yummy breakfast, and close proximity to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.

I have never reviewed a hotel but this one merits it. Hyatt place is not supposed to be fancy and chock full of amenities like a ritz, but it’s really cute and cozy and has the NICEST staff you will ever meet. Seriously– I needed so many things in my brief stay and they were incredible. I travel frequently and maintain that this was the best service.
Also, the rooms are huge and include a bed section and a living room section. It’s a quick walk to the beach as well as the main downtown area. Highly recommend!

Wow what a great stay we had this past weekend. We’re locals from just an hour South and decided last minute to stay here. This hotel was so impressive. The crew was so nice and welcoming. The room was super clean and the breakfast was amazing. It’s safe to say we will be taking a few more staycations here!

A bottle of water, or a human being? I expect more from a hospitality business. Today I was treated rudely and dismissively by the staff and Manager at the Hyatt Place, downtown West Palm Beach. This morning I was on a walk and stopped in for a bottle of water. The young lady at the front desk was on the phone and put up 2 fingers when I asked for the price. When I paid there were 2 errors: 1) I was shortchanged by 2 dollars and 2) overcharged by 50 cents. When I complained the manager got involved. The desk clerk said «He’s not even a guest.» The manager abruptly offered a 2^nd bottle of water «so I don’t have to deal with this.» Does one have to be guest at Hyatt Place to be treated with human dignity? I am very disappointed in the product and would expect at least a basic level of hospitality.

I just stayed here last week, Fri-​Mon, and while 3 stars seems low, it’s just for a couple things–
I’ll list out the pros and cons–
Pros
–Great location; it’s 1.2 mile walk to the beach and Worth Ave
–Maybe .5 miles/​10 minute walk to City Place
–Room was clean
Cons
–I had a street side room, and I could tell the bldg was not built that great for every single car kept me awake-​And I am used to traffic, I live downtown Chicago, Clark and Wacker, in the loop but my high-​rise is built well and I only can hear sirens-​So Friday and Saturday night was non-​stop cars racing by-​Any down shifting from stick shift cars, that is all you could hear, until maybe 2am–
–Elevators are turtle slow, I’d much rather take the stairs but that wasn’t an easy option–
–Stairs aren’t easily accessible, I tried to use the outside entry for the stairs and it didn’t work, only mgmt card would work–
–Parking is a little high for the hotel I think, $ 20 a night could be reduced to maybe $ 10-​I get that it’s not a large garage but some of the spots will get you blocked in when you wake up in the morning–
Overall it was a decent place to stay–

I left my $ 300 shirt in the closet and realized it shortly after checking out; I called them right away but they didn’t take immediate action. Instead, they waited two days before ever even calling me back only to tell me that they couldn’t find it.
If they were going for exceptional customer service, they would’ve ran up stairs and checked the room immediately. Instead, they did the opposite.

WOW! Gorgeous «Downtown» hotel, huge rooms that are like suites that easily sleep 4 people, superb shuttle service that will take you to the beach, Worth Avenue, CityPlace and lovely Clematis Street which is FULL of restaurants and shops (be sure to check out the consignment shop called «This & That»), superb breakfast (though not many gluten free choices), SUPERB staff — all eager to please. A great value all around, I will definitely be back! A+ to the Management and Staff of this stellar Hyatt Place property.
NOTE: Make a point to see guitarist Jeff Taylor when he’s scheduled to play at this hotel’s Lobby Bar area — you might want to sing along!

The Hyatt Place in West Palm Beach is definitely our favorite Staycation hotel! When my wife and I need to get away for a romatic weekend… we pack our bags and drive all the way up to West Palm Beach (About a 30 minute drive for us). In spite of the short distance, it always feels like we are away on a luxury vacation. The staff is first class. They genuinely always seem to care that we have a great expereince. (All 3 times we have stayed here this has been the case)
We have stayed at far more expensive hotels in Palm Beach but find that the staff at this hotel is superior.
This is why the Hyatt Place. has become our place!

This Hyatt is a great little hotel in an excellent location within easy walking distance of wildly popular City Place and the beautiful waterfront. They have a nice lobby bar that was filled with a plethora of beautiful young ladies who appeared to be available and looking when I was there.
However, since I’m happily married and (unrelated to this fact) ridiculous, only the most peculiar things about this hotel stood out for me. This is not to say the Hyatt is not a comfortable place in which to spend an evening, mind you– I just can’t help myself.
One: If you stay in the lobby for more than 5 minutes you will become cryogenically frozen and your future relatives can harvest your DNA for cloning efforts, such is the power of the air conditioning. I don’t know how those girls could handle it, other than the fact that they were hammered and probably felt very little.
Two: The hallways are miles long. It looks like an optical illusion, they are so long. They should rent golf carts by the elevators to assist with hallway transport. But the actual hotel looks small from the outside– like the Tardis from the Doctor Who series. If you’re a nerd you’ll understand this reference.
Three: The room was oddly set up. You’ll see. I don’t know if they are all like this, but the bed area and bathroom are positioned in such an odd way I ran into a wall and smashed my knee into the bed on two separate occasions getting up to pee in the night.
Other than these things that will matter to nobody on Earth but me, this is a totally solid stay.

Very disappointed with our recent visit. We were in town for a memorial service and had stayed here on 4 other occasions. We noticed one of the in-​room phones was dead, the room clock was an hour fast, and the coffee maker was dirty with previously used coffee grinds. We called downstairs to have another coffee maker brought to our room. After 35 minutes and no knock on the door, my wife went downstairs and was told the employee went to the wrong room. He showed up 15 minutes after the visit downstairs. We did get 2 complimentary cups of tea for the problem. The breakfast wasn’t as fresh as it could be. The donuts were hard, the fruit salad was not ripe, and the bananas were not edible because the skin was already black and not yellow.
We are still fans of this place. The rooms are big, clean, and worth the price. We just hit them on a bad day. We will give them another chance. OBTW, they hit you for almost $ 20 a day to park. Location is still wonderful and taking a jog along the water is always relaxing. 5 – 10 minute walk to Citiplace.

So although this hotel wasn’t perfect, I really enjoyed my two night stay overall, and the perks of this hotel overcame the few negative aspects.
In terms of the room, I really liked the amenities and thought it was modern and comfortable. I loved the bed and slept great on it. The sectional couch in the living area was a nice touch and very comfortable. Oddly enough, they had a great lighting system! Weird I know but it was sort of like a control panel where you could turn on and off all of the lights. Just a simple convenience that I appreciated.
Housekeeping came late in the day – I came back from a training a little before 5 and they were just then cleaning my room! The housekeeper did a good job though.
The daily happy hour in the hotel bar was great in terms of prices – half priced drinks and apps daily from I believe 5:30 — 7:30. The one app I did order I was disappointed in – the cheese plate which was really just slices of basic deli cheese with crackers. But whatever, it was cheap.
The breakfast that was offered wasn’t amazing, but it was free and had some unique options.
Lastly, I did order room service my first there, but after waiting way longer than I would expect, I called to find out the status. Apparently the person that took my order didn’t send it in or something so they sent my order up to me immediately and did not charge me. That’s the right way to do customer service!
If I’m in the west palm area again I would definitely consider returning to this hotel.

This hotel is very beautiful and was in a great location (5 min from the beach, 5 min from City Place). The furniture is all new, the bed was super comfy, the service was fantastic, but there were just some things that I found to be weird…
There was dried up throw up on the wall next to my toilet, the carpet around the AC was very damp, and I had to ask for a microwave in my room. I feel that there should be a microwave in all rooms just like at any hotel. I also noticed a huge crack down the middle of my ceiling and wallpaper coming up in the bathroom. While the hotel is very beautiful, I found those things to be odd.
The breakfast wasn’t very impressive either. I just think they should do classic hot menu items like scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and toast along with the cold items they have set up. I ate a vegan cheese/​egg on top of an English muffin, and I also ate a ham egg & cheese muffin. I felt like I was missing something the entire time I was eating. I’ve never been so desperate for a piece of meat in my life. Even at my stay at Delray, the breakfast just wasn’t that great. There, I could tell that the eggs were instant eggs. The breakfast at Embassy Suites is way better and I’ll probably just stay there whenever I visit South Florida again.

The only good thing I can say is that it’s clean and walking distance to City Place.
They double booked my room, charged me for it, and then told me there was nothing they could do. When we spoke to a supervisor he said he would do us a «favor» and only charge the unbooked room for one night. Because they’re a business too…
The bathroom is teeny and the water pressure is awful.
The layout is a little odd, the bed area is crammed and the AC is extremely loud.
The rooms don’t block out sound very well, you can hear every door slam and baby crying at all hours of the night.
I called down for an extra blanket and they told house keeping should be on my floor so just stick my head out the door and see if I can get one. They were nowhere to be found… 40 minutes later I finally got a blanket.
It’s safe to say Hyatt lost two customers this weekend.

I’ve stayed at the Hyatt Place in Downtown West Palm twice. It’s very conveniently located less than 5 minutes away from so many restaurants, Clematis street, City Place, and close to the beach.
Both of my stays here have been in their King Bedrooms. I love how spacious and comfortable this room is. It has its own living area with a large couch and a flatscreen TV on a swivel so you can aim it at the living or bedroom area. There’s also a bar and desk area in the living room. The bed is so comfy! I’ve had a great night sleep each time on their bed. The rooms are always very clean and include free WiFi. Although the hotel doesn’t offer room service, they do have food which you can pick up at their lobby — sandwiches, wraps, and other snacks. Their free breakfast buffet is surprisingly good — fresh eggs, toast, yogurt with granola, cereals, etc. The staff here is friendly and helpful. They’ve been able to resolve any issues I’ve had (keep reading) relatively smoothly.
The cons — so I guess since the King bedroom has most of its space dedicated to the living area and bed area, I shouldn’t expect the bathroom to be spacious. However, the bathroom is almost uncomfortably tiny. It definitely doesn’t fit two people inside at one time comfortably. Their bathroom extractors (vents) are also really weak so it always gets so hot and steamy while you shower, even when you leave the door cracked open a bit.
During my last stay, I had an issue where the AC unit wasn’t working at all. Once I alerted the hotel staff, they had a technician over in 20 – 30 minutes to take a look at it. They had the unit in our room replaced within a couple of hours (luckily we had a concert to catch that night and didn’t have to be in the warm room waiting for the replacement).
They don’t have a pool, but the beach is nearby so it’s not even a big deal. The offer garage parking for guests (not free, I think it’s $ 8 – 9 per night).
Other than the tiny bathroom and lack of in-​room service, I’ve been happy with both of my stay here.

I really enjoyed this hotel. It was very clean, very quiet, and the staff is very helpful. We loved the shuttle that takes you anywhere within 2 miles. Within those 2 miles is City Place where there is tons of entertainment. The room deserved 6 stars. The room smelled so nice, was super spacious, and had a beautiful view of downtown. If you’re coming with kids, keep in mind there is no pool at this hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt, we received the quality & service we expected from this brand. Although there were a few little hiccups with the shuttles wait time, we were told they leave and pick up at the top of the hour, they do only go with in a two mile radius, so anywhere you plan to go shouldn’t be that bad of a wait, so we thought. Well we get dropped off at the beach, and we call 15min before the top of the hour to let them know we will be ready at the pick up point. 40min past the hour Guess who shows up??? And it’s not like there’s shade, or a shaded part you can go and wait, so if you have plans, to be someplace other then waiting on the shuttle… The other down side is they have No Pool, they have to spas, hot and cold.
That was just weird. Other then that very nice, very clean, and everyone was very friendly.

Had an amazing experience at the Hyatt this past weekend in West Palm Beach. All staff members were incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. Shout out to David at the front desk and the shuttle drivers Winston and Clara, they were awesome! They let me check in at 10 am, 5 hours before check in time! That was nice considering I had taken an early flight from NY down to west palm and was carrying luggage. The room itself was larger than expected! It showcased a nice sized couch, desk and vanity area to do my makeup. The beds were comfy and the sheets were soft. The AC worked well and i got some use off the coffee maker in the room. I also enjoyed free breakfast on two occasions and boy was I surprised. They didn’t just serve bagels with cream cheese as most basic hotels do. They served actual hot and delicious breakfast. I had eggs and bacon, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt one morning, and an actual egg, cheese and sausage sandwich the other ! They served OJ, apple juice and coffee/​tea. I saved lots of money on breakfast! Another great thing about the Hyatt was the free shuttle bus they provided. It took you anywhere within a 2 mile radius and ran at the top of the hour, every hour. This meant it took you to the beach, city place and the famous Clematis Ave! I saved lots of money on cabs!
Last but not least, they let me check out 1 hour later, free of charge, and held my bags until the evening when I had to fly back to NY. Overall, I was beyond satisfied. I now plan to stay at more Hyatt hotels in the future.

Stayed here for 4 nights this week while in town to take depositions. Overall, this is a utilitarian but very good work hotel:
Clean
Quiet
Very big rooms
Good work area in rooms
Free wifi
Very good breakfast included, with solid coffee
Staff reasonably helpful
Other than the fact that there is nothing unique or interesting about this hotel (contributing to the feeling that every day is Groundhog Day if on a work trip), I would recommend it for work trips — no frills and, happily, no surprises. Just a clean, quiet, and comfortable place to sleep. Within walking distance of where most of the «downtown» WPB law firms seem to have their offices.
Also know that there is a very nice outdoor mall about three blocks away with good stores and a number of great restaurants. I think it is called city place. Otherwise, other than a below average but still expensive Mortons, eating options outside the hotel within walking distance seem to be slim, so keep the shopping center in mind.

I’m in West Palm Beach a lot for work, and ever since finding this hotel, I now always stay at the Hyatt Place.
The rooms are well-​designed with a living room area with a sectional, desk, and mini-​fridge and then a separate bedroom area that has a decorative half-​wall partition. Square footage is probably comparable to a regular hotel room, but the way they’ve laid it out just makes the whole thing feel more spacious and like a suite. I also appreciate the TV panel, which allows you to connect a DVD player, laptop, etc. I’m sure you can do this at most hotels, but the design of the panel at Hyatt Place is very user friendly and informational.
Additionally, I am absolutely in love with their lighting system. Don’t you hate when you’re leaving a hotel room or going to bed, and you have to go around and turn off every light switch and lamp? Not at the Hyatt Place! They have a switch panel next to the door and also next to the bed (in addition to other places throughout the room) that have buttons clearly labeled «Living Room,» «Bedroom,» «Bathroom,» «All Off,» etc. So with one push, from the convenience of your bed, you can turn every light off in a particular area or in the entire room. SOOOOO nice.
As for the miscellaneous, the business center here is small, but it works. The attendants at the front desk are prompt in responding to requests to refill paper. Breakfast in the morning isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s free, convenient and more than just a continental donut spread. Parking is an additional $ 20 or something a night.
Overall, Hyatt Place is convenient to WPB dining and attractions, and I prefer its rooms to those of the other hotels in the area. That’s why I keep coming back.

One thing that you should know is that there is not an outdoor pool. I didn’t even think that was possible with hotel chains in Florida. There is an indoor ‘cold’ and hot jacuzzi. Oh really? A cold jacuzzi? Is that what you’re going to call your indoor kiddie pool?! Uggghhh. Really though, I’m being dramatic on purpose :) Thankfully, it rained and I used the gym I instead. I did skip the jacuzzi because I saw about 7 guys go in after sweating like crazy in the gym. Um, no thanks, I’ll settle for a hot shower instead of the jacuzzi.
The good:
–gym has privacy to it, no one is watching you work up a sweat… huge plus in my world.
–good service check in
–the elevator that WAS slow mentioned from past reviews is now fast, trust me I stayed on the top floor. I was up in a flash many times with a full elevator and multiple stops.
–Great rooms and amenities (mini fridge but no microwave)
–great lighting and a/c…there is an ‘all off’ light button next to the bed. Reminds me of the clapper. Convenient!
–free wifi… AND with the quickness.
–free shuttle to the beach (in lieu of the pool, I guess, le sigh.)
–in the heart of the downtown area and easy to find
The bad:
–did I mention that there isn’t a pool? I didn’t think so.
–the gym ran out of sanitary wipes and headphones… I called to have someone come by but no one showed up or at least a half hour later.
–no valet but still charging a high parking fee… boo-​hiss!
–the ‘gallery host’ as the Hyatt likes to call the front desk got my food order wrong. Order breakfast after 9 and chances are they are reheating leftovers from the complimentary breakfast.
Returnable? 35% despite the bad, I really like it here but there are a few other non-​chains that look amazing WITH effin’ pools.
