Defenelty Gotta go when there is a Big swell But it is still Gorgeouse just to go check out you drive threw cane fields! I am blessed to have been there at one of the Biggest swells in a Century!!! It was packed!!! When there are big waves excpected there will be people there driving you down for a small fee. If it rains be carful driving down there your self in a car. Trucks & Suv’s are fine. There were 70 to 80 footers when i was there! Defenetily somthing to experience in a life time!!! Surfs up!!!

This was quite an interesting stop on vacation. We braved the hike down to jaws with a local off season so there weren’t many people. On the hike back up I stepped on what looked like a pipe bomb. Pvc tube capped on both ends. White powder exploded out of it. My first thought as I ran away screaming like a little girl was ‘anthrax’ but I’m thinking it might have been something else ‘blow’ing in the wind. After the deathly hike back to the car we started driving back on the little one lane dirt road. Came upon a flipped truck in front of us completely blocking the road. Another truck pulled it out thank goodness or we would have been stuck there forev. Two stars for the view and the interesting adventure albeit a bit scary. Recommend not going alone.

Price = Free Experience = 4(only if you KNOW Jaws is «going off.» If not… don’t bother!!! It’s an interesting drive down(if you like burnt out vehicles and a lot of stolen junk left along the way). IF jaws if «going off»… then there are so many people, you can blend in… sort of. I would tell you how to get there… but, just ask your local Maui friend.

This is not a beach for tourists. Jaws or Peahi is only accessible by 4X4, and on a winter day where the surf is up to 30 – 40 feet it is packed, parking is in the bush or on a raised area that you need all wheel drive for. The views are amazing, and the crowd is chill, bring binoculars or a good Nikon with a lens to catch the big boys doing their thing, or trying. Amazing way to spend a lunch break :) bring sun block it’s burning out there. Bogs

They redid the road going here and put gravel which makes it much easier to get to. Not sure the street you turn on but if you are heading out towards Hana then you will see Peahi Rd on your right that’s the road you turn left on. Make your immediate right and follow that road straight down until you see a lot. It’s fun to watch the 30+ ft surf from the cliffs and you can hear the waves even though you are very far away. Got to see some people paddling into these monsters which was amazing. Honestly if the surf is massive on the north shore and Hookipa is too big this is the place to watch the real professionals. Kudos to those brave souls that tame this wave.

What an adventure!!! I was super hoping for high surf advisory during our trip to Maui JUST so Jaws would be going off. We were actually on our way to drive the Road to Hana and pulled over in awe at some huuuge washed out waves right after Paia. Some locals talked to us and when I asked about Jaws they gave us all the info we needed… couple miles up the road, grassy parking lot, walk to the view point. Done. Well we got out of our car and took about 20 steps and some friendly guys in a 4WD offered us a ride. We hopped in and laughed and bounced all the way down the dusty pineapple road to the lookout. Passed the Rockstar tent, so we knew something was going on! What a scene! Everyone was so nice, I think people we just stoked that Jaws was going off and we were all happy to be there, everyone was smiling! If I lived here, I’d be watching Jaws all the time when it’s big. I wish we could have stayed longer, but there was so much time between sets, felt like forever, and we were already behind on the Hana schedule. So we got like 3 good sets in and had to head back. Not as many people going as there were coming, but thankfully someone else offered us a ride back, too! So stoked I got to check big wave surfing off my To Do List!

Note: a lot of things are illegal — ever drive over the speed limit? Anyway, this beach is amazing. True that tourists aren’t very welcomed here but I don’t think there are too many that go so whatever. The waves are incredible and it just gives you a beautiful feeling to be in a place where some of the best have surfed. It’s a trek to get there but is worth it as the view is AMAZING. This place gets 5 stars alone for how beautiful it is. Sadly we were there on a day when there were not any waves. But I would love to go back and see the monster waves and surfing. Be sure to take a 4 wheel drive rough… rough dirt road

Note-Another reviewer did a review for JAWS, it is illegal to be on the property it is private property and it isn’t very aloha of them to trespass. You are NOT allowed on the property at Jaws it is owned by Maui Land and Pineapple company. But you can view it from a Peahi cliffs. Here is a video of tourists going to JAWS illegally. Notice all of the over turned burned cars? That is because they shouldn’t be there. Incredibly disrespectful of these tourists. Take a helicopter or boat tour and help the local economy! Don’t be so selfish!

WOW… this place is gorgeous… kind of a little bit of a trek to find but well worth it… that’s what Hawaii is all about right… spending your day at the beach and getting your toes in the sand! Check this place out… it’s nice!
