I cannot express enough how breathtakingly beautiful this place is! The pictures cannot do justice to its beauty. I was simply blown away by how perfect it looked. This was our first stop on our Road to Hana and we just couldn’t get enough of the place. The view of Hookipa Beach was amazing from the lookout point. We didn’t go down to the actual beach but there is a pathway leading you down to the rocks where you get an even better view of the lookout. Make sure you wear appropriate footwear because it’s a bit muddy on the way down to the bottom. However, when you are finally down there, the view is even more spectacular than up top! I will never forget this place and is one of the best highlights of our Maui adventure. The color of the water is gorgeous — a soft pastel blue, like a painting! Also, there were decent parking spaces and some fruit shops on the side. We bought some bananas and sugar apples. I recommend this place to visit when in Maui!

Very beautiful stop on the road to Hana. Definitely stop at the lookout before going down to the beach. Beautiful views and cool to see all the surfers riding the waves. Good opportunity for photos too. Plenty of around to help with the pictures.

a gorgeous lookout spot. You literally think you are in a movie or a photoshopped beach because it is THATPERFECT! crystal clear waters, lovely sand, and lots of fun people watching with all the surfers out! GORGEOUSSPOT, right after Mama’s Fish House, you have to stop and soak in the views!

Great experience here seeing full double rainbow and great view down the beach on the way to Hana. Definitely worth a quick stop for some pictures and to see the surfers in the winter.

Gorgeous veiws of Hookipa beach, the most famous wind surfing beach on Maui. This beach is way to choppy and windy, so unless your a professional wind surfer or surfer, I wouldnt reccomend this for swiming!

This is a really beautiful place on Maui! On the North Shore, and at the beginning of the trip into the Road to Hana. The pictures are great from up here, and on most days there are a ton of people surfing on the huge waves. A great place to kick back and relax and enjoy the sites.

Incredible view, if you are shooting pictures, bring a long lens. You will be able to get some breath taking shot. If you just want to take a break and have a great view, then this is the place, but if you have a camera you will not be sorry. The very coolest part was watching the wind surfers get 1 – 20 feet into the air, it was breath taking and exciting to watch. It’s a must see and very free, so check it out if you can.

Awesome. Definitely stop here both at lookout above park(great views– tourists) and down at beach level closer to windsurfers(closer look – locals). They do amazing flips and such.

As usual in Hawaii, miles from where Unilocal says it is. Still, there are signs on the road so you wont miss it. Great overlook at the end of the beach for watching the surfers, many of whom are in the water before 8am. Only facilities are a few Porto-potties.

OMG… I got some ridiculous pics from here… it was so pretty and serene… not too many people here either… so you can walk around and take as many pics as you want without a random stranger waundering around in the background of your shots

Hookipa beach look out is on the Hana highway and most tourists just pull over to take pictures and watch the wind surfers. It is a very windy part of Maui and when we went there were 60 mile an hour winds according to the news. Watching the waves here is breath taking. Here is a video we made in winter of 2007 on the look out. We never actually went down to the beach. Watching the waves here is hypnotic.
