AM/PM Door

I had been referred to this company to upgrade my entire gate opener and access control system. I first called them on ²⁄₂₄ to get a quote. I was instructed to email my particulars to them and was told that I would be contacted by their estimator. 5 emails and three calls to their office and here I am 23 days later without a bid. Just this morning I got a call from them and was promised a proposal by the end of the day. Well, now it is 9pm on a Friday and nothing has come. That is it. The other two gate companies responded promptly.

These guys are great. Bars I asked for were made fast and work like a charm. Bollards were nice too.

This company is the same crappy company already listed on here Unilocal serving pacoima. They have very shady business practices when working with our company. I.e. having our employees sign a form. Without a price and then cleaning look I have a signature with an approved amount additionally the owner actually said right right negative review it doesn’t matter I have a company that I pay to remove them and make me wonder how many negative reviews were probably already removed they probably have negative stars if that’s even possible

Best company all around. The service was amazing across the board. From the moment I made the service call to the moment they finished job. I highly recommend these guys, they definitely know what customer satisfaction is!

AM/​PM did the installation of a garage door opener with remotes on my existing sectional roll-​up door several years ago and it has worked flawlessly.
Last year, I noticed it getting a little screachy and figured it needed some lube and a basic service. They sent someone promptly who performed the service, seriously minimized the noise and even matched an Amazon promotional price that another local outfit was advertising.
Then, last week when the door was not working, I called AM/​PM, got Mike on the phone and before scheduling a service call he talked me through a few trouble-​shooting tips and got me back up and running with a total cost of $ 0.00!
I’d give them 6 stars if I could!

I made the biggest mistake of looking at the reviews on Unilocal after I scheduled a service with AM/​PM and got worried when I saw the poor rating. I hoped my experience will be different but unfortunately, I just got ripped off by this company. I explained the problem of my garage door to Valerie that picked up the phone and said that both remote controls don’t open it but they open the gate. Valerie asked me some basic questions and have me send her the pictures of the remote control so, they can come out with new ones if I need them. She explained that the fee for coming out is $ 70 which is the standard of diagnostic services with other vendors so I agreed. The day of the service, she called and wanted to cancel the service because she has a technician that has called and sick. I told her I stayed home based on their promise of showing up and I will call someone else instead of re-​scheduling. I wish I just did that. She then agreed to keep the appointment and gave me a quote of the $ 70 charge and if needed, the lube and oil service and new remotes will be a total of $ 165. The technicians came and his trouble shooting indicated that my receivers are out and he suggested that the whole system is changed instead of just the receivers, which are not readily available in the market as it is a 1996 unit. His quote for the whole system is $ 585. I said I will look around and use the service if comparable in pricing with other vendors and I was going to seriously consider hiring them but thought it sounded too expensive. At the end, I anticipated paying the $ 70, which I thought is the diagnostic charge but I was asked to pay $ 125. Nothing was fixed but according to their manager Mike and Valerie, they have to do a lube service at a minimum if they show up and the $ 70 is just a trip charge and doesn’t include diagnostic services and they have an additional mandatory ½ hr minimum charge so, I was told I am responsible to pay $ 125. I said if you are charging me $ 125 for nothing then go ahead and do the lube, which is just spraying oil around the rims of the door. What a joke and what a rip off. I don’t recommend this company to anyone. Look around for vendors that have 4 & 5 stars and glowing recommendations with happy clients. My garage door is still not fixed so, calling another vendor to do the actual job and fix my garage door.

I meant to update this review by adding, this company failed to keep it’s words again and charged my credit card $ 165 and not what the manager tried to adjust, $ 125. Another rip off. Just watch out customers.

Just used their services to repair our door after it was violently thrown back by some really powerful winds the other day. Ingrid, my contact, was very courteous and the service was prompt. Being close to the New Year I scheduled to have the repairman come by on Friday when we opened. The repair guy – didn’t catch his name like a doofus – was very friendly and quick with his work, though I wish he was fifteen minutes faster as they charge by the hour, but what can you do? However, he arrived in a timely manner and had a good laugh about my story of using Barr Commercial Door a few years prior. And, he managed to work some magic on our wonky door as I was certain we would have to get a new door. But again, I am no door expert.
Would recommend to other businesses in the area if needed!

Called the Company to receive an estimate for installing an automatic gate. The rep over the phone mentioned that they will have an adjustor give me a call back to set up a time for me to get an estimate. After 3 days of waiting I called back and asked if anyone was going to give me a call they said that the estimators are busy. I asked to be forwarded to someone in charge since i didn’t want to sit around and wait for a call back. My call was forwarded to an estimator who said that he lives in the same area as my property and that he would stop by the property during the weekend take photos and call me with an estimate. I was very happy to hear that they were going to help me out and go out of their way to stop by the property over the weekend. However, the weekend passed and i never received a call from anyone. I called back to check on the progress and i was simply forwarded to the estimators voice mail. I left a voice mail for that individual asking for a call back. so far 14 days have passed since my original call to AM PM doors and i still have not got a bid for my drive way gate. I called in to cancel the request for the estimate since at this point i have lost all of my faith and confidence in this company. The lady on the phone seemed very careless about me canceling the estimate and taking my business elsewhere. At this point It was obvious to me that they did not care about my business and their company losing me as a valuable client who has multiple properties in their area and could have used them if i was simply satisfied and attended to instead of being put on the side line. Overall, my first impression of this company is negative and we all know first impressions last a life time. Moreover, my business will go to a competitor simply due to lack carelessness and follow ups.

I had a positive experience with AM/​PM when they installed my driveway double swing gates back in 2005. I supplied the original gate motors and the ornamental gate while they matched the side gate pieces to fill in the spaces on either side of the driveway. The welds are professional and they repaint all the ironwork at finishing to make it all look stock and clean.
It’s 2014 and it’s time to upgrade my motors to commercial units so I called them back. Valerie is who I dealt with. She is easy to reach via email & phone. If your schedule is hectic (like mine) being able to communicate through email can be a real positive. The estimate was submitted to me via my phone while I was at work/​school, i looked them over, signed and emailed it back. The bid was fair and reasonable and I was comfortable with moving forward.
Fernando did the install and I couldn’t be happier. I’m a perfectionist (and a welder by hobby) and that’s what I’m looking at when a job like this is complete. Fernando called me upon completion — he was polite and friendly on the phone and his wiring is immaculate.
I work in entertainment management and I’ve used AM/​PM for a few of my client’s properties. If you want a professional install at a fair price, I highly recommend AM/​PM. The end result looks as it should, professional.

FIVE STARS WITHOUT RESERVATION. I have a 1927 house that originally had carriage doors that had been replaced by a prior owner with an ugly metal door. I wanted to try to restore the garage doors to the original style but hit the wall finding new doors that didn’t cost an exorbitant amount. I went to four architectural salvage yards and finally found one set of carriage doors that were significantly too large, with pealing lead based paint and some rotten boards and cost $ 11,000 each! AM/​PM built two lovely carriage style plywood, paint grade and trimmed doors for a reasonable price. Kelvin and staff spent the time necessary to size and install the doors to fit an uneven garage floor and two odd sized openings.

Kelvin the owner has always been very helpful since I’ve worked with this company the last couple years, even going so far as clearly and calmly troubleshooting over the phone on a weekend evening when my tenants’ driveway gate was stuck. He also serviced the garage door opener and recommended installation of some good safety mechanisms. I feel he cares about customer satisfaction, and seems to really know his business. I’ve never had any trouble getting a call back, though I know they are busy. Would recommend without hesitation.

RIDICULOUS. I called in asking for a bid for a new gate. 6 days later and still no answer, calls or emails from them. I called 4 times and all they could say was we are working on it. Get back in line, my business it going elsewhere.

This company totally rocks as far as great customer service. My security gate jammed as I was closing late one night– which meant I could not open for business the next day. First off– someone answered the phone vs. an answering machine or a service. The technician said he would be sure to have someone call me first thing in the morning. Amazing! Someone actually called me early to let me know that a technician would be at my place of business before I opened. 2 people arrived ON TIME! and they were more than a pleasure to deal with. My only word of caution is be sure to understand there is a service call fee (travel time, gas, etc.) in addition to the pretty high professional hourly rate. When I called to ask why so high, I was told that that is pretty standard because of the ridiculously high overhead with liability insurance, workmen’s comp, rent, etc. The person I spoke with was the owner and I have to say– he was willing to explain why my bill was the price it was. I honestly could not argue with him as I own a business and understand how overhead impacts prices. All in all– I would use them again.

My garage door «died» (spring broke and tracks bent) and I needed it fixed in a jiffy — with car locked inside and a mangled door, I chose AM/​PM because they could come out first thing Monday morning.
They did arrive at the set time and fixed the door in under 3 hours, for $ 385 (salesman’s estimate was $ 300 on the phone). OK, I can live with that. And, a 5 year warranty to boot.
However, a few days later when a cable suddenly fell off the wheel (which the AM/​PM repairman serviced but did not replace), the door was unusable again. This time they were less excited to talk to me (warranty repair, after all) but did come out the next day and fixed that in less than 20 minutes.
Two weeks later I receive a bill in the mail for $ 105! Phone rep knew it was a warranty repair, repairman knew it was warranty repair, but I was billed.
In trying to work it out over the phone the billing rep said she’d write off the bill but that «I could remove my sticker they placed because they would never service me again.» The 5 year warranty? Gone for good.
So, initially, great customer service (or should I say talented salespeople), on-​time repairs, etc., but they sure don’t stand behind their service when you need them to! Beware!
