I have yet to tan at TanLine but the brand new owner wrote me a really thoughtful message and it looks like this place is on the up and up.
Price is right. If your schedule permits, definitely check them out.

I just got the first spray tan in my life and loved it!!! Meghan did a great job… no streaks, completely even, and washed off gradually. Definitely lasted longer than the 7 –10 days I was expecting it to last. Will return, especially before summer weddings and vacations.

Love my new spray tan! Donna is always super helpful and friendly too! Customer service is top notch and that makes for 5 stars in my book! I will definitely continue to tan here :)

(Yes, I know tanning is bad… but going back to Hawaii for a few weeks, last thing I wanted was to burn… so this was a great place to get a base tan!)

I was really excited to find a tanning salon so close to our new home. Within walking distance is perfect! My experience, however, was less than perfect. Upon entering the salon, I was barely greeted and had to get most of the information on my own. I was given the option to benefit from a current special, so I opted for that, but, was disappointed when I was told I couldn’t use the Unilocal $ 25 for $ 50 credit to pay for it. Not that big of a deal. When shown my room, I was told how to start the best, but not a thing about the various other features: face lights, fans and standard operating procedures. Luckily, I’m not a novice tanner, so I had a good idea on how things worked. The only REALLY unfortunate thing was that who ever installed the bulbs did them improperly. The top half of the upgraded beds typically have stronger bulbs than the bottom side that you lay on. (Makes sense, right? You wouldn’t want strong bulbs directly on your back). Well, I did. Now, I have a horribly weird burn and an uneven «tan» all over my body. The woman in front told me after I explained my disappointment that she normally flips/​rotates in that bed??? Never heard of anyone rotating in a lay down bed in my 15+ years of tanning. If that’s what she suggests then I should’ve been notified. Either way, they were easy to work with on giving me my refund and in just sorry that I now have to find a new salon before we leave for our trip.

Everyone says what wonderful (however pale) skin I have. I have it by staying out of the sun! But when a Women’s Weekend pool party beckoned, I knew I had to do something to get some color, if not for me then for the others in attendance.
I figured my best bet would be a spray tan. I checked Unilocal and found Tan Lines near me. I called and was told about the coupon.
It’s a humble place– nothing glamorous, but clearly offers a variety of options for tanning. Margaret was perfect for me as a first timer. She heard my need to have color without looking too dark or fake. She took her time to ensure an even application.
I got my spray tan on a Tuesday and it was still absolutely believable for a real tan by the time I went to the pool party on Saturday. No one was the wiser. I will definitely go back and ask for Margaret again as the need arises.

i Spent a whole month at The Tan Line and i was very happy with the results. The staff is so friendly and accomidating i will probably go back in a couple days and buy another month. When i called over there for price checks over a month ago, i was speaking to the owner (unaware i might add) and he told me about this great deal that was going on and so when i got off work i went straight to the Tan Line to get started. When i arrived i was told that the deal was only valid if i paid for a second month with a credit card, at first i was a little upset, i thought why would he keep that part of the deal from me? but the lady at the counter called him and explained what i had thought the deal was and the owner honored our first agreement. NOW THATS GOOD BUSINESS PEOPLE! now i paid 89 dollars for a month in the stand up level three bed and so i went to my calander and highlighted all the days i would be able to make it and it calculated to 3.60 a tan! who can beat that?! anyways i got concerned when i went there after work and the sign on the door said they were closed due to short staffing… i didnt want a day to be wasted, so the next day when i went in i shared my concern with the sweet lady and without any questions she added an extra two days on my account!!! i am all done with my tanning but i most definatly will be back in a few days to continue my sun kissed tan!

Found this place on Unilocal — VERY pleasant experience, quick, easy and most importantly, painless. The lady was very very nice. Looking forward to going back!

People are Kind & understanding (I messed up my coupons) efficient, Offers an intimate environment. Beds are good. Everything is clean.

This place is HORRIBLE!!! The only one good thing about it is the GREAT customer service. My sister told me to come here and try out tanning for the first time. And I came in and the girl was very friendly and nice. She was very knowledgeable about tanning and told me what she thought I should start out with and gradually work my way up to a higher level bed. So I bought the 2 for 1 new comer package. Even though the place seemed low budget, the environment was clean, the room I went in was very clean as well & the place had an over all welcoming feel to it. I just recently came back in to buy another set of tans, because I thought it was a good price for the tans there. The owner was in there this time, i believe his name is Dan. Other than being a total CREEP he was trying to get me to buy a monthly unlimited package for the highest bed that i don’t even use & that is the highest in price. Then he tried to get me to buy a bottle of lotion. He wasn’t just your typical sales guy trying to get you to buy something. He was really trying hard & being very pushy & sort of intimidating to get me to buy all this stuff. After I said NO multiple times he got the picture and stopped. But he was EXTREMELY rude after that. I told him I just wanted to buy one level 1 tan & handed him my credit card, he said I couldn’t use my credit card and that he only excepted cash (which I thought was kind of shady). So i gave him $ 11 in cash and he pocketed the money right in front of me which i thought was totally unprofessional. Not to mention the bed I was suppose to go in was very dirty. I told him about it and went in another bed. The environment was dirty as well, he had a basket of towels next to the desk, all of his bags and stuff near him which blocked the area to walk if you had wanted to use a bed in the back. Everything just looked so dirty compared to when I had come in and there was someone else there. I told my sister and she said she went in and Dan was there and she felt the same way i did about him. And so did a few of our friends that use to go there too. My sister said she has seen him more and more lately too. She said that every time she goes in there and she sees that it’s Dan in there she just wants to walk right out. All the people i know that go there think the same way. My sister also said that he NEVER changes the bulbs in the beds. He just replaces it with another used one. There seems to be always something new wrong with a bed or beds i should say, whenever she goes in there. None of us will EVER go there again. If Dan knew what was good for his business then he would stop coming in and just let the girls run the front desk. Cause he gives people the creeps. He will continue to loose customers if he is always in there. Anyone who asks me about this place I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!! If Dan was NEVER EVER there then i would recommend it because like i said the girls in there are so nice and friendly. But Dan ruins it completely.

Though this place looks a little rough along the edges, it is VERY reasonably priced and is extremely clean. I moved to Pacifica from Sacramento, where tanning was WAAAY less expensive but as far as salons go, out in this area, no other beats Tan Line. The staff is friendly and they always do their best to answer any and all questions and to accommodate any and all needs. I previously worked at a tanning salon and do not need a great deal of direction but these girls are definitely here to help! They are not sales crazy and aren’t in the business of forcing anything on you. With my love for the tanning industry and the awesome Customer Service, at this location, I would even love to work here and be a part of it all.
Like I stated before. reasonable pricing, great customer service and quality beds and lotions. You can’t go wrong!

I really love this place. I am a bit partial because it’s across the street from my apartment, but the prices aren’t bad in comparison to other places, and there is a great Unilocal deal. There are times where 6 months will go by before I buy another membership, but the people that work there always remember me, It’s like the Cheers of tanning salons. Dan, the owner is always nice, and recommending what I might like. Overall, great bang for your buck!

I went in for a spray tan — a last minute decision so I would not be white on my vacation. I live in Pacifica and thought it would be good to try a new place that was local. I’ve spray tanned before both in Pacifica and in SF so I know what to expect.
I called and a man took my reservation and was super nice. Upon my arrival, the same man who took my reservation was there and again was very nice to me. A young girl came in as I was checking in and he told her that he needed to show her how to use the spray machine. I immediately got a little worried thinking this was her first time and on ME!
They took me in the back which was a utility room with machines and a wonky set-​up to do the spray tan. The girl, who was very sweet, told me it’s not pretty but it works. I’m easy going so figured it’s fine, as long as I get a good service I didn’t mind the shady looking surroundings. I will say though it’s a terrible set up, shady situation and was a little worried immediately.
First she gave me disposable panties and top if I wanted — which I happily took. What followed was nothing short of a disaster. She started and told me that she wasn’t used to using this gun. Then as she sprayed, she was having a hard time with the gun and had to refill it! As she sprayed she would stop and blot my skin with a towel — I’ve never had someone do that — doesn’t that make it worse??? Then when she ran out of liquid the for the 3^rd time, she couldn’t find the right refill tanning liquid and was opening up all of these different areas in the utility room. Then she dropped the can attached to the gun — and the tan liquid went everywhere! Huge amounts of liquid were on the floor, around me and on her! She tried to keep a good attitude, kept apologizing and tried to continue. At that point it was useless for me to stay — I looked down and the tan was not looking good despite her best efforts.
I told her that was enough and I had to leave — all of this took over 30 minutes. Usually it takes 10 minutes at other professional places — over 30 minutes is too long. When I changed back into my clothes, the disposable underwear and top were not appropriate as the liquid went right through and I had these crazy patches of tanning spray in what appeared to be a bad polka dot pattern. Yikes!
I walked to the front and told the owner/​manager guy that the tan was terrible. He was super nice and refunded my money, gave me a pass for a free tan in the future and apologized. I went straight home and took a shower with lemon juice to get it all off — in no way did I leave any traces of that bad tan on me.
Afterwards I asked around to professionals here in Pacifica that are in the area of salon owners and other tanning establishments and I got the same response from all of them which was «they are still in business? I thought they were long gone, they were like that years ago too.» So it sounds like they have had a bad rap for a while — so I’m shocked to see any good ratings about them here.
While I definitely will say they were nice and apologetic, they really need to rethink their business plan in doing spray tans at all. They are simply not set up for it and the young girl who sprayed me was very sweet but they need to give her proper training — and never let her use a new spray gun for the first time on a customer! Their customer service was good — I will give them that… but I will never go back there nor will I ever recommend them to anyone.

Tan Line is a great place to go if you want to get a tan in a hurry. The pricing is by far the cheapest in the area and the people working there are always very nice and helpful. They are always polite from the minute I arrive and they always give me complementary tanning goggles and a cool towel to use while I’m in the bed. If you are looking for a place to get a tan at a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend coming here.

I needed a tan, I don’t buy packages so I like the pay as you go. I walked in was engaged and treated kindly! In fact, evertime I have been there or called I have had a good experience. The place is small and not the most inviting as far as décor goes but it gets the job done!

Okay, So I bought a tanning package here today. Now although its not as luxurious a ‘spa’ as a salon I recently was tanning at… Here are the things it has that the other didn’t. If you live in Manor area vs. Vallemar or Linda Mar area, this salon makes sense. The money I will save on driving over there in gas makes up for this alone.
Bulbs that actually tan. I was going for 15 minutes in a bed recently at a previous salon. I went in a level 1 today for 11 minutes and my husband said he immediately noticed that I had more of a tan than any of the other times, and I was going for 15 minutes previously. Now these bulbs are not in the ‘nicest’ looking beds. or even nicest looking room for that matter… but considering for the time that you are actually in the bed you are wearing tiny goggles (provided during your use complimentary of the Salon) Theres no reason to be looking around at the room.
Customer service. Customer service is key for any business to be successful. From the moment I walked in I was welcomed, given recommendations, treated with respect and thoughtful gestures were made to accomadate me during my visit to this establishment. Like putting my choice station on their special radio in the bedroom and providing a damp washcloth and goggles.
Price. Right now they have coupons on their online website, they have 3 levels of beds at reasonable prices, and if you buy a 1 month package for one month, the following month goes down by to $ 44.00 from $ 59.00… All prices are clearly subject to change but this is an example of what kind of incentives this business is offering you. Referral cards for friends. A substantial variety of lotions (I didn’t check prices on these, but you can always go in and check it out.)
Heres the bottom line. I think the «Tan Line» Is a fitting name for this place because the bottom line is you are coming here for what? A great tan. No frills, just the bottom line.
Also, if need be, you can put your package on hold if you have to go out of town sometime during your unlimited package. That is one of the reasons I decided to pick this place. A main reason, they want you to have a great experience.
All though this isn’t some fancy shmancy salon, the business seems to be booming for this little place. And thats because the customer gets what the customer wants.

If you are serious about tanning, this is the place for you. It may not be the most luxurious tanning salon but I tan to well, tan. Not to admire the décor.
That being said, the owner is awesome, the staff are helpful if you ask questions and they have great specials on packages. It is the cheapest tan you’ll find in this area (i’ve looked). If you are in the area, check it out!

If you’re going in for the first time, ask the employees which bed has the weakest bulbs, and go in there for a day or two, then work your way up to the stronger bulbs. Usually, bed 1 is the weakest, then 2, 3… etc.
The employees are usually nice, but the shop is a little dirty looking. I’m not too worried about it, and if you are worried about a dirty tanning bed, just ask them to re-​spray & wipe down the bed you’re going in, they shouldn’t have a problem!
Once i stopped by right around the time they opened but no one was there yet, so i called and left a message. I got a call back within 20 minutes letting me know that they were running a little late, and that they apologized for the inconvienence and would give me a free tan. That’s good customer servie!
This place has good prices, and i wouldn’t pay more than i pay here to get skin cancer, so it works out. Overall, thumbs up.

The owner is a nice guy from Santa Cruz. It’s a decent place to tan in Pacifica. Many locals come here. You get what you pay for. Be cautious since they just got new bulbs. They will BURN you if you stay in for too long. OUCH!
The part I like about this place is that you are able to share your tanning packages with your friends. Not many tanning salons will let you do this.
