This place has been a Godsend for me and my Macbook. I’ve had the works put into it (RAM, memory) and SD Laptops took care of it all within a couple days! When «the tea incident» happened (computers don’t like hot tea very much I found), they salvaged the hard drive and RAM and put it all into a new laptop for me. I don’t know what I’d do without these wizards!

I brought my son’s laptop here. It was having overheating issues where it would shut down when playing video games. He thought the fan was broken and would need replacement. We were told that it would be $ 89 for service and parts would be extra. When they called back, they told me that the fan wasn’t broken but was dirty and that they cleaned it out. I’m impressed with these guys. They seem to know what they’re doing and they didn’t try to sell us unnecessary parts. It’s been over a month and my son’s laptop is working perfectly.

Well, it was defiantly SD laptops on Cass St. And we were told on the phone that it was a battery issue. The computer would not turn on. But regardless, you would have still had to take the chassis off to get to either, thus the missing screws would have been obvious. So, one would think that if there were missing screws, they would have been replaced as part of the repair.

It’s a little scary when you have to leave your laptop with someone. Mine had so many important things on it that I can’t replace. Also, I hate to feel that I’m being taken advantage of when people start techno-​speak.
The folks at SD Laptop Repair Services put me at ease and spoke in plain, easy to understand terms. There was no hard sell to increase the services I purchased.
I highly recommend them to anyone who needs help! They have two locations — Pacific Beach and Adams Avenue. Though Adams is closer to my house, they told me that they could get to it quicker in Pacific Beach and I needed my laptop back as quickly as possible.

These guys are AWESOME! My company called their office in Normal Heights (that is the closest office to us) because we were having problems receiving emails from current and potential clients (not «good!»). The last tech who we hired, had supposedly solved the problem, but in all truth had no idea what the problem was, and after a couple of days of hanging around the office left us with the same issues and a pricey invoice. Our technician at SD Laptops Repair Services nailed it in less than an hour, and even took the time to answer my random IT questions (with a smile and great attitude, nonetheless!). What an amazing difference! We could not be happier with the prompt service, technical knowledge, rates, and end result, which is a smooth running office and peace of mind that comes from knowing that should we encounter any computer issues in the future, we know who to call, and trust! That is beyond «good,» it is priceless!!!

I never write reviews but this is needed. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Brought laptop in with issues and was told resolved. Months later hard drive they worked on completely crashes losing all data. Within a year new hard drive they provided and installed crashes again. They replace and although under warranty have the audacity to charge me. Guess what, this hard drive now has adware pop ups from day one and yes you got it crashes within months. Will NEVER bring any computers to this company again and advise all business associates to do likewise. 0 stare

So amazing, please come in if you want to do yourself a big favor. I’m totally accident prone and not good with technology. I really wanted to streamline everything, because I had like iPads, computers, desktops and laptops… and it was just a lot. Oh and my iPhone. But now everything is beautifully connected and my daily life in general is more simplified and relaxed. Love that! I mean, that’s what help with tech stuff should be about. Everyone here is super intelligent but no one talks down to you just because you are not as tech savvy as them. Thank you so much. friendly, happy, and actually you’ve sparked my interest in learning about computers!

Friendly and professional service, they will definitely get the job done. However, I came here to get a laptop screen fixed since the screen was white and they quoted me at $ 197 for the part plus labor. We decided to take it elsewhere because we got a quote from 2 other places both in Clairmont Mesa. One charged me $ 150 and the other $ 95. If this place is the most convenient location for you, there won’t be any issues. But if you can go further out and want to save some money, there are other repair stores that can offer you the same service at lower prices.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. This is the second time I have brought them a laptop in need of repairs. Not only do they fix everything quickly, but their prices are very reasonable as well. I have referred several friends to them and they have all been very happy as well. I would not hesitate to go there again!

A+++ computer repair shop, brought in my computer with issues, Super nice and honest staff that really helped me out and didn’t try to rip me off like many of the other repair shops out there. Very fast turn around and my computer works better than ever!!!
If I have any computer or iPhone issues in the future I will be sure to bring it back to SD laptop.

These guys did a great job with repairing my Dell laptop. Some water had spilled in my bag and it fried the motherboard. They quickly diagnosed the issue, ordered the part, and had a working laptop back to me within a week. In the mean time, there were a few files that I desperately needed off the hard drive and they went in (at no large), retrieved the files, and emailed them to me. Very friendly. Reasonable price. And convenient location. Definitely will use them again if needed.

I have to give a shout out to SD Laptops Repair. They diagnosed my laptop, told me what it needed and allowed me to decide that it wasn’t worth repairing given the cost and age of it. Since they did no work on it this business didn’t charge me anything. If your laptop is broken, let these guys look at it. It won’t cost you anything to find out what’s wrong.

Professional, easy and fast. They offered to look at our issue free and told me we wouldn’t be charged unless they could fix it.
Seven hours later, data was transferred and I’m stoked.

Thank you guys so much!!! I needed a memory upgrade for my MacBook because it was not very responsive, so I asked for extra ram and upgraded for 320gb hard drive. Turns out after dissecting my computer, my ram reader were all kinds of messed up, so instead they upgraded my hard drive to 500gb and gave me a discount. They were super nice and called me every step of the way which I appreciated. And then after my iPhoto library got messed up and they took in my laptop again for free. They certainly know what they are doing! 4 stars because a few of my pics did get lost in the mix but I backed it up before I went in. So remember to back up your hard drive before any sorts of laptop repairs!

I’ve waited some time to be fair and see how everything panned out with my computer. About 9 months ago I brought in my computer because I was getting blue screen freezes and reboots and my fan was intermittently loud, so I brought it in. After a couple days of looking at my computer, they come back saying that they couldn’t get blue screen error to happen but it looked like my hard drive was corrupted and close to failure. As far as the fan… they just simply claimed that they couldn’t find that model of fan and that was the end of that.
After paying for a new hard drive and the standard $ 100 fee, my computer seemed alright, until a few weeks later when the blue screen shutdown happens again and then it began getting so bad that I couldn’t start my computer without booting up to safe mode.
I decide to look into it myself one night and did some research to find that I simply needed to get a program to read my crash mini-​dump data and it pointed to a specific problematic driver. I updated the driver and my computer instantly had no problems whatsoever. It’s been months… with no problems.
I tried to be fair and give them the benefit of the doubt but if a layman can solve the problem perfectly after one night of research, it gives me the impression that they just tried to sell me some hardware I didn’t need or they couldn’t figure out something I solved in two days myself. I will never go back and frankly wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. There might be time when they are perfectly honest but do business at your own risk… or come to them after doing some research yourself. The internet is an amazing source of knowledge. Do some quick research and you can surprise yourself at how much you can do yourself. I really think these guys ripped me off.

I’ve brought a couple computers here over the years and the guys are always straight-​forward, honest, and prompt. A flat fee of $ 89 for a fix plus extra fees if a part needs to be brought in I think is more than fair. I had to get the power supply for my desktop fixed at one point. It was the $ 89 plus another $ 50 to bring in a new power supply. $ 139 total. Computer worked great after that. Have also brought a laptop in that had a non-​functioning monitor. $ 89 to replace I think the LED card or something but they warned me that because this HP model is a faulty design and the card is next to the power, it’ll eventually cook itself again. Or something like that. It was a common problem that’s known for this particular model. Really stupid but these guys are able to at least provide a fix.
So yeah, I highly recommend.

Took my Lap top in to get a new DC power plug, called several other locations to get estimates and these guys were much cheaper than the $ 150 quotes i was getting. Not only did they fix my lap top in a timely manner but fixed a few other issues at no extra charge. Not only will i go back if needed but will refer others to them… If you’re looking for fast, friendly service with great prices, you’ve found it!!!

These guys are expereienced pro’s that know exactly what they are doing. I wanted a larger hard drive installed on my Macbook Pro. I brought it in at around 2pm and dropped it off. I asked them nicely to dust off the internal components of the machine since it was almost 3 years old and had never been opened up, so i knew it would be filthy. They were happy to do so at no additional charge.
SD Laptops also was nice enough to copy my old HDD onto the new, larger one, and even install the Mac OS X on it for me. (A sweet added benefit was that it was the release previous to the current OS Mavericks, which has slowed down many macs in the 2009 range and caused flash player to have major issues!)
They called me the next morning, on time per their estimate, and i got my machine back looking cleaner than ever, and with a faster, much larger new hard drive installed. Very courteous and professional service. Definitely 5 stars.

The problem re-​occurred 3 months later and I took my laptop back to this shop. They are not too good at diagnosing the problem as I still don’t know what was wrong with my laptop and why the video didn’t show up. As a paying customer, I would like to know what the exact problem is. All I was told was that something is wrong with the motherboard and that if I wanted to ensure that I don’t have the problem again, I should get a new motherboard.
So taking their advice, I got the motherboard of my laptop replaced. It took some time as they had to order the exact same motherboard needed by my laptop from some place else. Moreover, they somehow messed up the motherboard order, had the wrong motherboard delivered, called me over to drop my laptop off so they can replace my old motherboard with the new one, only to realize that they had made a mistake in ordering the motherboard. This caused me to wait a whole week before they actually got the new motherboard.
The guys know their stuff at this shop, but I would expect slightly more diligence in terms of actual customer service.

I never take the time to really go on here and share an experience but this one deserved serious recognition!!! My mid-​finals poor, student heart was broken to find out how worthless apple and their apple care really is despite the price you pay and the degree of damage to your computer… quoting everyone, myself included a $ 755 fix for my 8 month old perfectly okay laptop
… from a legitimate, uncontrollable accident.
ANYWAYS did lots and lots of research, tons of options everything from rentals insurance deductibles, credit card benefits, you name it.
From the reviews I figured my string of bad luck would be unstoppable even if a place had good reviews.
The reviews were not exaggerating, $ 89 fixed like BRAND NEW no questions, no judgment no being cornered into consumer hell
Beyond satisfied with this place and will certainly be back when my next technological crisis happens!
