Dr. Valdez, the second youngest of 8 children, was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from the University of California at San Francisco, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and the Santa Barbara-​Ventura County Dental Association. Dr. Valdez is active in the Dental Health Education Committee and the Peer Review Committee for his local dental society.

Dr. Valdez is active in the community. He volunteers his time and services in the Oxnard School District by providing dental screenings to local elementary and middle-​school students. He participates in Career Day activities as well. In addition, he volunteers at the Oxnard Salvation Army Clinic, and the Juvenile Justice Facility where he provides free dental service to incarcerated youth.

Recently, Dr. Valdez was awarded the David C. Fainer Award as the 2013 Dentist of the Year.
