I’ve been in the automotive repair field all my life. Most of my customers are long term customers because I am honest and never up sale my work by recommending unnecessary repairs. For years, I’ve worked for many people and have made many shops wealthy. I saw an opportunity for me to own my own shop so I can treat my customers the way I felt they should be treated. The name’s Jose and I’ve been working in this field since I was a kid I have worked for many different shops. From high performance to stock, or as we call it «general repair», which is the state of the car when you drive it off the lot. I’ve done schools and seminars for hybird, Chevy, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, BMW and so on. My partner has the same teachings. It started for him in his garage when we where kids working on his Toyota and at the same time he was fighting for our country and the beliefs that make this country. I have high respect for our men and women that fight in are military to keep our country safe. This man is Sovetana Tan my partner and a brother to me. Together we opened a shop. Where you can go and not get ripped off. When we say free check ups, its free. Even if it takes two days. JTs team will give you their best. Now about me ha ha, I like surfing, hiking, camping, backpacking, and the new change in my life, I have a one year old little girl named alison and a son on the way.

I spent 3 days trying to get a bolt out of an exhaust manifold, and I gave up and decided to bring it to a shop for them to cut it out. I just didn’t have the tools to take care of it.
This guy SAVED MY DAY. He didn’t have to cut it out, just quick use of an impact made my attempts to look weak. I am SO grateful, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back or send someone thing way. Thank you!

They broke the handle of the oil dip stick and didn’t bother to say anything. Also to add insult to injury they didn’t even bother to put enough oil in. JT’s automotive was a complete waist of time and money. If they can’t do a simple oil change I don’t see how you could trust them to do anything.

I’ve always been hesitant to take my car to any mechanic, as I prefer to do the work myself, but when I found myself stuck with a vehicle I’d just purchased with way more problems than I’d anticipated, JT’s really stepped up to the plate to help me out more than I would have ever expected. These people will go out of their way to get you the best deal possible, and will do their best to not screw you over, which I can’t say about most mechanic’s shops. No hidden fees, and some of the best customer service around. Literally some of the most legit and genuinely good people in the business; these are the type of people who give you faith in humanity (I know it sounds corny, but I’m completely serious). Definitely recommend if you’re even remotely in the area!

Do yourself a favor, I have over 5,600.00 on my credit cards for a repair at this place and I had to pay an additional 6,300. more to resolve. what JOSE did not fix.
This is due in part to a gal that works there that tells you they can do all sorts of things, when they cannot. They also demand money before they finish the job, and keep the car over ONE MONTH.
They do NOT know how to diagnose late model German Cars.
My first clue should have been when I answered a CRAIGLIST ad for $ 75.00 per hour and contacted them and the gal says, SORRY, THAT EXPIRED. Really? No where did it say that.
They «BAIT AND SWITCH» you and I had to have OXNARD POLICE come in when they were holding my car for ransom.
Worst experience of my life. Absolute Worst. Jose needs to fire that gal he hires to do customer service. She’s a con artist.

Nice guy, good customer service, but made a lot of mistakes on my car. I brought my car to him to do some basic tuneups on my car and replace the head gaskets. He originally told me it would only take two days. My car ended up being in his shop for a whole week! Everytime I called he kept telling «am working on it» or «the wrong part was ordered». When I finally got my car back, two days later the check engine light came on.
I called him and went back to him. I a waited over two hours just to speak to him. After the second hour I took it as a red flag and realize I don’t want to wait another week for my car. He either doesn’t have the time or doesn’t care.
As i said earlier nice guy, but if you are not ok with waiting over a week for mediocre work I suggest you look elsewhere

Great place! Very good prices and they changed out my spark plugs, cabin air filter, and did a fuel injection and transmission fluid flush in under 2 and a half hours! The car feels way way better now. I worked with Oscar and he was extremely helpful and funny. I’m definitely going here from now on.

I was iffy initially due to a single review from a customer who wrote a bad review but decided to see the place for myself based on the other positive reviews.
In short, Jose is knowledgeable, understanding, and supportive. My first time there to get an oil change, they notified me that I should get some work done such as an engine flush, wheel assignment, etc. Obviously I was skeptical but knew my car didn’t have any major work on it for a few years. They explained every part to me. They showed me on my car how the wheels were getting worn down. They showed me where my engine oil was starting to change color and walked me through the entire process.
They knew it would cost a pretty penny but notified me that the work I get from them has a warranty and should anything not work, to let them know immediately and they will fix it. They also had some discounts they could offer me once I asked. I left with my car a few hours later and loved the experience.
They happened to accidentally give me another customer’s oil change sticker (the one they put on the window of every car) but that isn’t a big deal. It was really busy that day.
I’ve been there once more and will continue to go there so long as I work in Oxnard.

Best mechanic I’ve had in years. My 2002 Audi has had issues since I purchased it a couple years back, and his repairs have actually fixed the problems their intended to (compared with the manufacturer) and at often a third or less of the cost. I agree with many of the reviews; an honest approachable guy, a family man, and a professional, passionate about fixing vehicles and doing it right. And all that at an amazingly fair price. I refer everyone I know here. My parents (also referred by me) would second all aforementioned.

I had some really bad brake issues with my 1999 Toyota Corolla and I took it to a couple local places in Oxnard, called some shops in Ventura/​Camarillo and they seemed way to overpriced with low quality customer service which in my opinion is about the majority of Automotive Repair shops in the area. Doing a little research I came across JT’s Automitve and I gave them a quick call explained my problem and Joe was more than helpful and willing to check out my brakes.
Took it my car in on a Thursday had Joe check it out and unfortunately a simple brake repair turned into a new rotor, caliper replacement. a costly repair in my mind! I wasn’t aware of how bad my brakes really were… all the other places I took it too just wanted to install new pads and didn’t really look at how bad the calipers were. Joe explained to me in detail and showed me some examples of bad calipers and sure enough mine were trash. I took my car in on a Saturday morning he worked out a price for me and it was fixed in a matter of a couple of hours on top of a excellent price oil change.
If anyone wants a good quality mechanic at a fair price that really breaks down whats going on with your car and really cares about superior customer service I would recommend Joe and his staff at JT’s automotive. I will definitely be taking my car there if I run into any issues.

Wow! They really helped me out yesterday! This is one place you can bring your car for trusted work. It seemed like they cared about me and my situation. I googled them, and I consider myself lucky to have clicked on the right place randomly!
I will recommend and only go back to JTs if I ever need anything. I went to a few other places and they were grumpy jerks where JTs greeted me happily, helped me fast and gave me tips; and I’m just some random joe off the streets!
There is NO other place to go! I owe them lunch and a beer!

Jose is a straight up guy. I always feel a little wary (the stereotype right?) but he takes the time to go over all the options so I never felt uncomfortable or like I wasn’t fully informed.

Jose has been the most helpful and honest mechanic I’ve dealt with since moving to Oxnard. He’s worked on my 64 GMC truck and 64 Cadillac. I wouldn’t bring my cars anywhere else. I initially found him on craigslist because he says he does diagnosis for free. Figure if I give him a try there’s nothing to lose if he sounds like a scammer. This guy is the exact opposite of that. He took care of my truck like it was his own. Thanks Jose and the crew!

I have taking my piece of poo poo car that is falling apart from tire to engine to jt’s and he has done wonders to it with out leaving me broke and out on the streets. he is honest and will show you right then and there your old stuff to new, he will take it apart in front of you and will tell u what you need and dont need, he would also give you advice and different options. always a honest guy and i have gave him 2 new pleases customers as well. i will always take my ferrari into his shop. btw jose did you ever see the picture me and my mother took in your phone well you were fixing the hot rod? anywho i will always return to jose. he’s not like any other oil shop who try’s to up sell junk you don’t need… like the imported oil from the mountains of makka kaka pooie… happy returning customer

I wasn’t too sure where I could take my Prius, since it’s pretty new and I was done with the warranty for free maintenance with the dealer, so I had to shop around a bit. I’m in town a lot for work so I thought I’d it try. Most places seem too much about up-​selling and just trying to make a quick profit and it’s too complicated to find something in LA. I didn’t trust too many people with the car since the car is a hybrid. I’m not saying all mechanics are terrible but I think we can all agree most of them don’t really know what they’re doing. I was referred to this place by a friend that had been here before for an oil change so I gave it a shot. I met the mechanic and he was just a down to earth and very honest guy. I felt comfortable having them take care of my car. It’s been a few months now and I can safely write this review and say they did a great job. Thanks Jose, I’ll definitely be back!

So as you can see the shop has commented a really ugly response to my review and criticism and really does not stand behind their work. FYI I am not «JP» JP is their owner… so I think they really have their lines mixed up here. I would like to remove my note of good customer service on my previous review, there is really ZERO reason to go there now. They will slander, degrade, and fabricate entire stories if you give them negative reviews. Defamation of character is a very serious legal offense and the attached comment is ENTIRELY untrue, it’s ridiculous and childish at best. Nothing I posted in my review was untrue… As you can see they half admit to the allegations and then lie later on, as if they just grew too angry to concentrate and write an intelligent response or an offer for me to come back and really truly address the problem.
fyi any person can change oil, people pay for a service to not change it and deal with the hassle. It doesn’t take a tech to change oil, it takes someone who knows how. As we can see, you can call anyone a «technician» but if they dont have the knowledge they are just some guy tinkering around in an expensive machine and I had to pay the price for that with my car. I’ve changed the oil every oil change on my car, but being away from home I figure why not pay a shop since it was due. They did put the filter housing back together incorrectly and they did reuse my old oil pan crush ring and these are the facts, I still have the damaged rings. I don’t think it was the intention rather it was ill informed techs who dont work on foreign cars often. Mistakes are a real thing, but how we deal with them is what makes us a respectable shop or really just another problem business unwilling to own up.
Rather than being professional and admitting an error they went on a rant response to avoid admitting to a mistake. Instead of reaching out to a customer and seeing if there is something you can do to change the review you attack the customer and call them a liar? Unprofessional…
HINT: JT’s Automotive, reviews CAN change with a followup and working the issue out with your customers, it erases the previous review score. Do some reading on Unilocal policies and ratings before you fly off the handle and call your paying customers sexual deviants because you are angry at your own errors.
So overall people of the Unilocal nation if you want to risk your auto and end up with this type of person dealing with you, messing with your car, handling your complaints by lying to the general public about your character… I mean you make the choice. There are 100 other shops who can do the work in the area who don’t treat you like garbage when there is a problem, choose any other one and avoid the massive amount of immaturity displayed here.

I was driving through Las Vegas with my two young children when my air compressor went out, I went to several places where they quoted me over a grand as I was a desperate mother who needed air conditioning to drive in 110 degree weather. This is the price I got even if I provided the part. I called Jose out of curiosity. When I drove up there, as soon as I pulled in And spoke with him about my problem, he immediately pulled people aside and began working on my car only five mins to arrival. He is honest and what a real mechanic should be. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond what any other mechanic had ever done for me. I would recommend this guy to anyone!

Jose is an honest mechanic! I can saw as a woman, I’m not always comfortable going to a mechanic. The price was fair and he finished the work fast! When something sounded funny after I got the car back, I came in and they checked out the car and fixed it quickly and at no cost. I recomment JT’s to anyone!

Jose is great. He brought my truck back to life. What impressed me the most is that he is always looking for the best and most cost effective way to do the job. Plus I trust him, not something you can say about many people in the automotive industry. Very often during the course of the repair Jose will call up and tell me he found a better solution, of he was able to fix something without a new part, costing me less then the estimate.
Beware: Jose shares the building with another shop that will try and grab you as you drive in, make sure you go to JT’s sign on the right side of the building.
