The Sushi was really great here. I’m talking fresh fish and ingredients AND it was fried! Lawddd. In my opinion, the best sushi that I’ve ever had has been fried. The ingredients can be raw, but if the outside is fried and crispy, I’m all in! I ordered ‘The Owings Mills” which is deep friend shrimp tempura, real-crabmeat, lobster and old bay with a secret chef sauce on top. The sauce was tangy and reminded me of mumbo sauce with a bit more of a quick. Delicious! The only reason that I didn’t give Sushi Q2 five stars is because the service was a bit slow. My friend got his dish about 10 mins before mine was brought out. However, it was not bad service at all. Maybe it was just a busy day for them on the day that I went in. I’ll probably order takeout next time.

After trying a few disappointing sushi places in the area, we finally found Sushi Q2. Now when we want sushi, this is the only place we go. There are a large number of cooked rolls to get through on the menu(probably catering to the area), but the true raw sushi is amazing. Definitely the freshest fish in town. My wife and I usually get two special rolls and two regular rolls.(A go-to is the tuna mango roll.) When we do this, they give us a small crabstick tempura and a bowl of miso soup each. We sometimes also do sashimi or nigiri, which really lets you experience the freshness. Although it’s FAR from traditional, I love the Super Volcano, which has shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and banana. A bit crazy, I admit, but the stomach wants what it wants. We haven’t tried the hibachi, but we do also occasionally go for the Hangover Soup, which is a sort of spicy broth with ramen, veggies, jalapeños, and your choice of shrimp, chicken, or beef. Definitely cures what ails. When they bring the check, they give you a little bit of a dessert that’s half cheesecake, half pound cake. No matter how full I am, there always seems to be room for that…

Believed those good reviews but I was disappointed. The worst thing is they served the rice with a maraschino cherry! We never eat rice with maraschino cherries in Japan! I don’t know where they get this idea from. Disgusting. I just ate sashimi because I was so hungry. My family ordered the ramen style noodle soup but it had no flavor. We asked them to add some flavor but they just added a lot spice. Never come back here again. The staff were nice so I gave them 2 stars.

SushiQ2 is just as good as the original SushiQ, with good service, great fresh fish, and well-priced lunch specials. We’ve been a few times for lunch, both eat-in and takeout, and they’re usually bustling but quick to get food out. Yellowtail was the best on the visit when I tried the pick-3 rolls, with tuna fresh but a little bland, and good salmon. Shrimp tempura is good, but takeout packaging for it makes it get a little soggy. Cucumber rolls are tightly packed and fresh, with barely any rice filler — excellent flavor here.

I originally like this place but last couple of visits quality had gone down. Hope they improve! Also music can be a little much.

Found this gem accidentally — was on an exploratory mission for sushi on a lunch break and stopped by. The staff is friendly, appropriately attentive. The sushi chefs know what they’re doing — tight rolls, beautiful presentation and delicious. I received a free appetizer roll with miso soup and ginger dressing salad and a free dessert(I ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll and the Spicy Salmon Crunchy roll. Try this spot, and you’ll fall in love like I did. They had the Caps game on in the background as well.

Went here with a girls night out with our 8 month and 10 month olds. The rolls were delicious. Hawaii(kiwi on top) Wayne’s Roll, lobster something(forget the name) and 151 fire. We really enjoyed this meal. The staff was great and food delicious. Try this place out!

Good meal. Got the Boston Bays Roll, Vegetable Tempura roll, and ice cream tempura for dessert. Everything was good. Didn’t take long for food to come out. We went an hour before closing on a Sunday night. Service was fine, but our server forgot to ask if we wanted drinks and didn’t bring any water. I never drink restaurant water, so I didn’t care. But my husband wanted some and had to ask after our food came out. Ice cream tempura was pretty good.

This was an interesting establishment. I read a little bit about it online before I came on a friends suggestion and was surprised when I pulled up to find it hiding in a strip mall with other businesses that were already closed. It looks small on the outside and not very promising however upon entering, the layout was nice and you can watch the chefs make sushi. You start off with receiving a complimentary soup and panko crab stick and ending with a cheesecake dessert as well. I wasn’t expecting this coming from a place of this stature. I ordered a Philadelphia roll which had huge pieces of salmon and my accompaniment ordered a California roll lol. Didn’t count as sushi. They have a sauce similar to yum-yum but is white that went well with the comp app. The soup provided had a deep flavorful broth and was a typical hibachi soup. The green tea tasted very different than green tea I had previously tasted. Ambiance is quaint and suitable for a nice date. I’d return for cooked dishes but not sushi. There’s just something I don’t trust about a small establishments ability to obtain fresh good quality fish.

Ok before I start off let me say this is a nice sushi bar hidden and tucked away in a shopping center across from the royal farms. The food was excellent but the service was so slow I almost asked for a refund. I called my order in at 625 pm and was told 10 mins for 3 rolls. Walked in at 640 was told the wait for my order was 10 more min. I get it, they were slightly busy so no big complaints from me. Well needless to say I ended up getting my food at 723 pm and I was pissed. To avoid making a scene I just grabbed my food and left. I was not the only customer upset even dine in customers were causing a scene and pissed.

Sushi Q2 has delicious sushi, and great service. The lunch special(2 rolls, miso soup and salad) is a huge amount of very tasty food. My only gripe is that the lunch special is a little steep in price. The spicy salmon crunch roll is my new favorite! The Owings Mills location is certainly off the beaten path. I am interested in trying the Elkridge location for dinner.

We love sushi q2 the sushi is always very good! My fiancée changed it up and got chicken yakisoba she loved that as well! You get a small free appetizer and a small mini dessert at the end! Can we also talk about the playlist inside? They don’t play anything typical of a sushi place it’s like dub step and early 2000’s alternative even AFI I’ve heard a few times haha I love it!

I’ve been looking for a new sushi spot and I think I just found it! I went in for carry out. It was not busy and I was immediately greeted. I asked for some recommendations for which the server obliged. I ended up ordering the Owings Mills, The Rainbow Roll, the California with real crabmeat and the regular California. I then received a Philly roll for free. Well as you can see from the pics I crushed this sushi. The Owings Mills roll was everything. Shrimp tempura, crabmeat, deep fried deliciousness. I will be returning just to have that. The other rolls were exceptionally good as well but the OM was definitely my favorite. The Philly roll was good the sriracha sauce gave it a nice kick. All in all I would visit again. And for $ 38 not bad on price either.

Use to enjoy this place… not sure what happened but the food isn’t that great anymore and the service is sub par… maybe I came on a bad day? Nope I went back twice and the same result… I think I’ll pass on this place from now on… maybe you’ll have better luck than I did… disappointed because this place had so much potential

I went in for dinner, when a lot of sushi places are doing various carry-out orders but generally aren’t all that packed. The ambiance a little odd, but was totally fine with it(one guy reviewed that the music wasn’t even asian? So what… neither is most of the sushi we’re eating… much like getting mexican food in mexico will be a totally different experience…) This place was the BOMB :). I read some of the Unilocal reviews, and this wasn’t too far from my hotel(travelling on business) so I stopped in. Their menu was broad and had two whole pages of various sushi rolls, with tons of great options. I ended up getting three of the«special» rolls around $ 13 each, but they were all really good. In addition they brought out a free appetizer and free little piece of cake even. I have definitely had worst sushi for more much more money at various places around the country.

Saw a 5-star Unilocal rating within 5 minutes of my drive back to PA and I HAD to stop in. unfortunately the acclaimed lunch special was available every day but Sundays. I was pretty bummed about this. Nevertheless, the food was good. For $ 16, though, I wouldn’t go back. I got the Salmon roll and Salmon maki. The salmon is nice and buttery. The rice is of very prime quality. It is surprisingly savory. The portion were large enough. Sure, the meals come with a small appetizer and small dessert. But, I can’t let that cloud my judgement. These were. minor, peripheral additions to the meal. My brother and I were both not blown away by our meals. And at the price, I can’t in good conscious heartily recommend this spot when you’ve got the masters at Hummus Corner not to far away along with some incredible pizza. If you’re hungry for a sushi lunch, go to Ginza in Owings Mills. They have a $ 10 buffet where the sushi is just slightly lower quality with a much better bang for your buck.

Had some sushi rolls, tuna tartar app, salmon tsunami which is like a tuna tartar but with salmon n hangover soup. They gave complementary clear soup n imitation crab apps. The sushi rolls was alright… could have been better grade fish but still ok. They give complementary dessert.

We have now been to Sushi Q about 8 times and it has been awesome every time! The sushi is fresh, delicious and creative. Plus the prices are very reasonable and the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. It blows all other Owings Mills sushi places out of the water because of the quality and price. I’m thrilled we finally have a great local sushi option!

I’m hereby putting all Owings Mills/Reisterstown/Pikesville area sushi restaurants on high alert: step up your game or Sushi Q is gonna leave you in the dust. In the 14 years I’ve lived in this area, I’ve tried nearly every sushi spot with varying degrees of success, and I’m pleased to say it doesn’t get much better than this. April and her staff are efficient, well-trained, and masters of excellent customer service. I’m writing this review after stopping in twice, and each encounter made me feel like a beloved regular. Don’t let the strip mall location fool you; this place has food to rival and beat any of the more expensive locations in the area. During my first visit this past Saturday night, our party of five walked in to a packed house, but fortunately only had to wait a few minutes for a table to leave before we were seated. The menus were extensive(and heavy! I feel bad for the waitstaff having to haul them around) and colorful, which was a nice touch. My wife was pleased by the bountiful offering of vegetarian offerings, and the prices were fantastic, which pleased me immensely. On to the important bits: FOOD! We were presented with a free Sushi Q appetizer since it was our first time in, and I think I could honestly make a meal out of two orders of that and a side of rice. It’s deep fried crab with a cream cheese and signature sauce, which may sound odd, but it’s delicious and a great way to start the meal. Next came the miso soups, which were wonderfully savory(weak-sauce miso soup makes me rage), and more appetizers of gyoza, fried calamari, and steamed edamame. Let’s talk about these appetizers for a minute, because I feel that they deserve a special mention. Let’s talk about that tender calamari that was better prepared than places I’ve been in Little Italy. Let’s talk about how those crispy, succulent gyoza beat out what were my current favorites(those being the ones served in FujiYama). Let’s talk about the fact that you could taste how fresh those edamame were and how they weren’t heavy-handed with the salt. Or we could skip it and you can just eat it yourself. Yes. Do that. For the main course I ordered two avocado rolls(my baseline standard) and a specialty roll called the Spicy RiQ, which contained eel, cream cheese, crabmeat, avocado, and tamago(egg omelette) which was fried and drizzled with their signature sauce. It shut me up. Everyone at the table watched my expression, waiting for my opinion, but I couldn’t stop indulging in the flavors long enough to say a word. I swallowed, looked at their expectant faces… and promptly popped another piece in my mouth because why talk when I could be shoving this manna from heaven into my mouth? (One of my friends allowed me to taste a piece of their Alaska roll, which is not on any of my favorite sushi rolls list, but hot damn that was good.) Here was the absolute stunner though: the sweet potato roll. «But Tiff» you may ask, «what’s so special about sweet potato wrapped up in rice?» And I’d stroke my chin thoughtfully and reply like this: «Have you ever come back to your parents’ house after you’ve moved out and discovered that they redecorated while you were away? Your folks are still there, and it has that warm, safe feeling that home should have, and yet it’s still drastically different and exciting? That’s what this roll is like. It’s the sweet, comforting taste of the sweet potato you grew up with, but they did something to it that just makes it magical.» The meal wrapped up with a dessert of cheesecake that almost made me weep with joy. Instead of a graham cracker crust, it rested on a fluffy cloud of sponge cake. It was delicate, not to sweet, and no where near as heavy as most cheesecakes. I meant to ask if it was Japanese cotton cheesecake, but alas, I forgot. Guess I have an excuse to go back now, hehehe.

Fan-fishin-tastic. I’d been keeping an eye on this place after reading the great reviews for it’s Elkridge location and was thrilled when I finally saw the open sign and even more thrilled after eating there! They greet you with an amuse bouche of a delicately crisp fish and sometimes soup too! Good times already Sushi Q. Keep it coming! The sushi is exceptionally fresh and clean, well-seasoned rice with great texture, and a LOT of choices. The basic rolls were solid and satisfying– spicy tuna is a good marker for me of quality b/c it’s so easy to disguise crappy fish with lots of sriracha, but theirs is nuanced and light, spicy, but you can still really taste the fish and the effect of the fantastic knife work too! The philly roll, which i usually find too heavy, was well balanced with crunchy, fresh cucumber, a beautiful smoke, and just a touch of tangy cream cheese. California roll is perfect. Real crab. Nuff said. But they get really creative with their speciality rolls and appetizers and this is where the experience gets interesting. I’ve now had two dishes that came with LED’s on the plate so basically I will love them forever! The Sexy jalapeño appetizer is probably the best jalapeño popper i have ever tasted. It’s a fresh jalapeño stuffed with minced tuna and cream cheese and lightly fried. OMG. it’s the way you never knew jalapeño poppers were always supposed to be. The Hawaii roll is a MUSTHAVE. I’m still thinking about it a week later. Tuna, yellow tail, Salmon, mango and cucumber wrapped in the pink soy paper, and topped with a very thin slice of kiwi and a drop of a spicy mayo and roe. you don’t know. you can’t. that thin slice of kiwi combined with the creamy fish, the crunch of the cucumber and the hit of heat at the end… it’s just bursting with freshness and flavor. also, the plating is beautiful and playful with palm trees painted on with chef sauce :) For a small restaurant in a small business park, they’re turning out some of the best sushi in an area with A LOT of sushi options. Great attention to detail, pride in their work and a genuinely friendly environment.
