Maxine’s Tailoring & Alterations

I had high hopes. I’m mixed between giving dear Maxine a 2 or 3 star review. Although the services rendered were done well, I felt the prices were very high. I had two skirts with elastic band waists that were not originally sewn down (odd right?) and a maxi dress with too-​high slits up the sides that I wanted closed. This cost me $ 40. I wish I would have just threaded up my machine and taken care of it.
Also, she doesn’t take credit cards. Not a big deal since there are signs and payment isn’t due until services are rendered, but still. I had to leave myself a reminder to take cash.

I have visited Maxine several times over the past few years, and I have never been disappointed. I am a short person with long legs, so to make most jeans work, I have to buy the longer inseam and have them shortened. Maxine charges half of what others charge! Yay! Once I purchased an expensive silk blouse for the print; I really didn’t like the style, so I took it to Maxine to make it, well, better! I wasn’t sure what I wanted, but she took one look at it and did her magic. The result was a very cool blouse that still gets loads of compliments years later. She also does shoe repairs. I have had some heel tips replaced. Overall, Maxine provides excellent basic tailoring and alterations for a very fair price. She is always pleasant and smiling, too, which is a great touch!
