This should have been a quick, standard meal. But we waited nearly an hour before we were served, while excuses were dished up frequently instead. Both the service and the kitchen were understaffed and when the food arrived my eggs over medium were runny as can be including the whites that were barely cooked. Disgusting… but I wasn’t about to send them back and wait again. They need MUCH better management to even come up to basic IHOP standards.

I am a woman who loves IHOP, but dear heavens, not this location!!! Just don’t go here. Our table of 8 waited over 45 minutes for our food. During this time, we never got refills. Our waitress vanished the entire time. (As a note, our table of 8 is a very quiet group. The horrible service was not because we were bad customers. The restaurant was practically empty, as well.) When the food came out, it was all cold. And hard. And gross. I’ve never had a crunchy pancake. It was depressing. I asked the waitress for a table full of refills when we delivered our food, and that took forever. The manager was walking around during the first half of our visit, but on the other half of the restaurant, and never once made eye contact with our table. During the second half of our visit, when I wanted to complain about no drinks and cold food, the manager had disappeared and wasn’t in sight. Stay away.

I’m just gonna say it: IHOP is not our thing. This would be an easy review to just dismiss even doing if it weren’t for our server, Jessica. Being self-righteous vegetarians who«prefer»(said in my best intercontinental accent) locally-owned, much more health-conscious options pretty much excludes us from this sort of establishment. A long night of drinking and an early morning CSA pickup(see, told ya!) meant we were in the area and needed carbs and coffee ASAP. We were probably better off that the first place I could think of, the Bob Evans across Metcalf, was gone anyway, and as I cut across two lanes of traffic and into the parking lot, we wondered aloud at just what there would be for us to eat on the menu. Mind you, we’re not vegan but these days it’s hard to avoid the ham, bacon, and sausage that seem to be the only method of enticement to get people in the door at breakfast places. So going into an IHOP for us is like going into a chain strip club in a city you’ve never been in before. It could be great or it could be real bad. .. it could be both. But probably bad. And quite frankly, it was pretty much just innocous and inoffensive. .. which brings me back to Jessica. She gracefully handled our questions about what we could substitute and even saved an add-on sale by letting us sub MOARONIONRINGS for chicken strips on the appetizer plate. We didn’t *need* mozzarella sticks and onion rings at 8 in the morning, but she made it happen for us! As usual, we ended up ordering the same thing with just a little variance between the two, and both meals came out hot and as requested. We really appreciated Jessica taking the extra moments to make sure everything came as needed and our drinks were never empty. As the place began to fill up with high school study groups and senior citizens stretching the definition of «early bird dinner» we watched as she handled table after table of hungry diners with a smile and a warm spirit. Thanks again Jessica for the great service, we appreciated that you turned an otherwise unremarkable breakfast borne of necessity into a relaxing, dare I say inspiring start to the day!

Better meals have been served in prison cafeterias. My colleague’s pancakes came severely undercooked. It remains a perplexing mystery, how the kitchen staff managed to mishandle pancakes. Even if pancakes were difficult to prepare, it’s in the restaurant’s name. If the sign out front had read, «the International House of Janky,» I would have understood the poor service and quality of the food. When my turkey sandwich finally made its way to our table, the sourdough bread was harder than a rock. The fries served with the sandwich were similarly deplorable, but I guess there’s something to be said for consistency. If the staff had committed to deliver subpar food, goshdarnit, they delivered. This wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill terrible sandwich. This was tragically disgusting. If I were an inmate on Death Row, and this sandwich were my last meal, I would have sent it back to the kitchen. Having already waited for a laughable 30 minutes for our food, as the only customers in the dining room, I chose not to send the sandwich back, for fear that I might not get a replacement sandwbefore the 2016 presidential election.

Wow, I will never go to another IHOP again in my entire life. My chicken fajita omelet was lacking in any peppers or onions and the chicken was rough. The pancakes were soggy and incorrectly made. My girlfriend’s wheat toast was soggy white toast. I just cannot recommend any of it.

Great service from Jessica!!! Hostess Jasmine was terrible! She wasn’t calling names and we had been there a while before another table was sat down. I asked her why they got sat before us and she explained they wanted to be seated and we can to if we want to sit down. Well of course we do… Furthermore the lady at the register kept having to sit people because jasmine kept disappearing and then you would see her talking to the busser repeatedly. I normally don’t feel the need to complain about stuff like this to where I leave a review especially of a hostess but it was horrible because of her! There were so many cleaned off tables and yet so many people waiting by the front door!

My family enjoys having breakfast outside the home every once in a while and when we do we visit this IHOP. We are always greeted and seated with a smile. The waitress is pleasant and food is delicious!

I guess there’s a reason why I hadn’t been to an iHOP in about 20 years. The hubby found a coupon and they’re across the street from the grocery store we were visiting, so we stopped in for a bite of breakfast. First and foremost, I have to say that our waitress was 100% top notch. If this review were for service alone, it would be five stars all the way. We left her a relatively sizable tip in comparison to the bill because she absolutely deserved it. I wish I remembered her name so I could give credit where credit is due, but she was attentive and very sweet. Where iHOP fails is food quality. I had a combo type of breakfast with eggs, hash browns, sausage and pancakes. The hash browns and sausage were fine. A bit cold, but I imagine those are made up in large batches and thrown onto plates as the other food is prepared. The eggs, which I ordered over easy weren’t «over» at all. They were sunny side up and under cooked to the point of the egg whites being stringy and mucous-y. The pancakes were edible, although they were served with«blueberries.» I put«blueberries» in quotes because what was on my plate wasn’t really what blueberries are supposed to be. This was a highly sugary and highly processed blueberry sauce that had very little in the way of blueberry flavor. All in all, the food was just semi-consumable. This is a restaurant that I’d eat at if I had no other choices, but I wouldn’t look forward to the experience.

Have been here a few times since opened. Not as good service as usual. Seem to be problems. Food typical. Could hear kitchen staff yelling. Just didn’t understand what they said as no habla espanol.

Cold food poor service and a manager that has no clue what he is doing. This ihop is a joke. If your looking for a great breakfast skip this place and try First Watch just down the street. Ask for Megan she is a excellent server.

It’s an IHOP, not really a whole lot to expect. Decently quiet, even though it was still pretty busy. Didn’t have to wait to find a booth and our waitress was quick with our drinks. Another upside is that it’s right on Metcalf, so you can get some shopping done, too.

Typical IHOP, service and food was good. Had the peach and vanilla stuffed French toast which was good. The peaches were really crunchy(crunchy as in crisp, had a bit of a crunch when bitten into and were too solid to cut with the fork) and weren’t too flavorful, I would say the strawberry stuffed French toast is better. The texture of the fruit is softer making it easier to slice it with the fork and proportion how much strawberry you get with each bite of French toast as well as having the strawberry flavored syrup if it turns out not to have enough flavor. They did also mess up my order and instead of getting the hash browns with eggs and sausage I got an extra large serving of hash browns only. They should have asked to make sure they got my order right but at least they were willing to fix it. Otherwise they serve great pancakes and omelettes like any other IHOP.

This place appears to be a typical IHOP. I saw all the negative reviews but my experience was uneventful. We ate breakfast and everthing was good.

headed here with my mom and son for lunch. it was pretty empty so our waitress was pretty accommodating. the main issue I had was that they brought me the wrong pancakes. which I didn’t even realize right away(it was some type of nut pancake instead of blueberry — I thought the blueberries might be hidden a bit. yes I was giving them the benefit of the doubt) a few bites in, I let our server know. I actually appreciated that she just brought the correct pancakes for me instead of taking my entire plate to the back to kitchen. everything else ordered was exactly what you’d expect from and IHOP. I wouldn’t rush back here, but if I’m craving pancakes I will definitely give this location another try.

A generally good experince with this IHOP. Greeted upon entering pretty quickly even though it was an off hour. Waitress was pleasant and prompt. Didn’t order pancakes, just eggs and coffee, which were fine. Hard to goof up eggs and coffee though. Bill was $ 11 and change, which is a little high for what I received. Put out a $ 20 bill. A few minutes later, the waitress returned to inquire if I had«something smaller», and indicated she couldn’t break a $ 20. Huh? I almost laughed, but she had been very pleasant. I scrounged around and was able to come up with a $ 10 and some $ 1’s. She had provided excellent service, so I left her a generous tip, and departed scratching my head wondering what type of bill they thought I could produce that would be smaller than a $ 20, yet still sufficient to cover an $ 11 tab.. .

Having read some of the reviews, we were skeptical of going in but since we were in the area at dinner time and the lot was mostly empty, we decided to give it a try. We were seated promptly, greeted by the server quickly and got our drinks while we were still deciding. The food was good and arrived quickly(which may have to do with there only being about a dozen people in the restaurant) and hot. The server was excellent. We had two butter pecan syrups on our table and he quickly switched one out for the blueberry. I could even tell that he washed it off before bringing it out. Drinks were refilled quickly and we even got a to-go cup without any problems. The only minor complaint was that the fruit dish that we received didn’t have what was shown. No strawberries. I can’t speak for how it is during peak time but Wednesday evening seems to be a good time to go.

It’s an IHOP, so there’s really nothing new to tell you about this place that is any different from any other IHOP you’ve ever eaten at. I probably wouldn’t even be writing this review at all if it weren’t for the waitress waiting on me. I’m sorry I can’t remember her name, but she really worked hard to make me comfortable and happy. That alone makes this a place worth trying out a second time.

Well, I figured it was the grand opening, so let’s try it one more time… Dear God, what was I thinking? I was promptly greeted and sat in a booth. I spent 10 minutes watching a server ring an order into their point of sale system. The server had dreadlocks, had their shirt untucked, and was leaning their head and torso against the wall of the server station. Apparently, time was on their side and they didn’t have a care in the world. I must have been sitting in their section, because while I sat there in awe, nobody came up to greet me. I had already selected what I wanted to eat and had used my phone to browse the internet and locate the closest driver license office. I ended up back at the hostess stand asking to be sat somewhere where someone will actually wait on me. The hostess grabbed a manager. The manager walked up and said, «I do apologize.», and then dismissed me by handing me back off to the hostess. I got a new seat and a new server. This time I was greeted pretty quickly. I ordered a large orange juice and my breakfast. The OJ came out right away… no straw. The server caught that she forgot the straw, but didn’t come back with it until I was ¾ of the way finished with my OJ. So, now I get my straw…2 minutes later she comes back, «Sir, did you say you wanted those eggs over medium or over easy?»! Really? I have been sitting here drinking my orange juice and browsing the internet on my phone and you still haven’t even entered my food order? «Over medium.», I said. «That’s what I thought, I just wanted to make sure.», she replied. Now my orange juice is completely gone, nobody has noticed, there is no water on the table, and I am just looking around hoping my food comes out soon. Alright! My food is here… it was delivered by someone other than my server(which is a step in the right direction, at least someone is getting the food out of the window while it is hot). The server sets the food in front of me and says, «There you go.», and turns and burns away from me. First of all, I ordered bacon not sausage links. Second of all, I am sitting here with NOTHING to drink. Third of all(and most importantly), I don’t have any damn silverware to eat my food with… JUSTLIKEONMYFIRSTVISIT! Kethup and hot sauce would be nice if I had the chance to ask… instead I got diddly squat. By this time I am fuming. I left my empty OJ glass and my entire untouched meal on the table and walked out the door. i will NEVER return to this IHOP, and that sucks, because this area of Overland Park doesn’t have much in the way of choices for breakfast. I was so glad to see an IHOP was moving in. The joke is on me I guess. Actually, the joke is inside this IHOP location… a complete joke. IHOP, you had better take a long hard look at the General Manager of this location, and get a good gander at the gangly and inexperienced staff you have plugged in here, or this location will never make it. If this happened to me twice in a row, how many other people must this have happened to? Instead of eating a nice hot breakfast, I am at home on my laptop, pissed off, writing this review. YOUSUCK!

Brand new place, open less than a week at the time of this writing, and still seems to be working out some of the bugs. The service is a little slow & uneven — everyone seems to be very young & quite new to the hospitality industry — but very friendly. Chain food, nothing exciting, but consistent. The best thing about this place is the space between the tables; they’re not crammed in too tightly, so you don’t feel that your neighbors are sitting elbow-to-elbow with you. This may be a commentary on the largening of America, that they have to leave more space so increasing numbers of obese visitors will be able to get to the table, but I don’t care about that — I just like having a little more room when I eat.
