Throughout the year that we have been using Heirloom to photograph our real estate and properties we have seen excellent results and a fantastic return on investment. Rita has an eye which is innovative, spontaneous and discerning. She finds out what you think you are looking for and then gives you that and so much more than you could have ever visualized. She is the consummate professional focused on the work of creating a magnificent product, while always remaining focused on her customers wants and needs. Additionally, I have seen her wedding photography and honestly I have had my breath taken away with the glorious way she uses light and the touching intimacy she can capture in a photograph. Her work is timeless. Her instincts are superb and her commitment to quality is relentless. You will find no finer photographer.

There are not enough adjectives to describe how awesome Rita is at what she does! I knew I loved her work before we even met. Have you seen her portfolio? I swear I loved every photo in it! Her ability to capture photos in the most beautiful natural light is incredible. Her talent and style were enough for us to want to book, but her warm personality is what really sealed the deal! She genuinely loves love and that is one of the most important qualities a photographer can have when documenting a couple’s love story. We had our engagement session last night and it was such a wonderful experience! She took her time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple, she put up with our crazy dogs, and potentially got poison ivy all to ensure that we were comfortable and that our pictures were great. I can’t wait for Rita to capture our wedding and other adventures as our love and life grow! She’s the best!

If I could select a higher rating, I would. Rita has been AMAZING from the moment I inquired about availability for our wedding. She’s fast to respond and so very personable — she’s an instant friend. We met up to make sure it was a «match» and left smiling knowing that our engagement and wedding photos were going to be exactly what we were looking for.
Our engagement session was fun and a breeze. My fiancé and I wanted photographs that documented our life and relationship. Rita was on board instantly. We choose our favorite date night restaurant, Pot Pie, and then headed to our old stomping grounds for some local KC photographs and ice cream. The entire session was effortless, it was like catching up with a friend who happened to be taking our photos.
After our session, Rita had a sneak peek on her blog within no time. The photos are gorgeous and capture us perfectly. Rita has a great eye for the perfect shot.
As an art director, I work with photographers regularly. I scoured online portfolios for days until I found Heirloom’s website. In my opinion, Heirloom Photo Company is the best option in Kansas City. I would recommend Rita and Jen to anyone!

Rita recently did an engagement photo shoot for my fiancé, Andrew, and me. I was initially a bit hesitant to do engagement photos, being that Andrew and I are not very traditional. Rita being the awesome person she is, made it an effortless process and it turned out to be a really fun day! We wanted it at a low key location, so we started out at a local dive bar (where we had our first date), and made brunch at our home the following day (Rita’s idea). We loved working with Rita and are so happy with the results. The photos look wonderful and definitely captured the real us! We can’t wait for her to also be included in our wedding reception in the next few months.

Oh my goodness… I don’t even know where to begin. Rita and Jen are simply amazing. The best. We initially found Rita and booked her to be our engagement and wedding photographer. Our engagement photos were so beautiful and will be something we cherish forever. Not only is her work amazing, but she is one of the kindest and easy to work with photographers I’ve ever used. I didn’t see her get frustrated or short once during our session, which would have been easy to do with us and our 3 kids, (who are 3, 4, and 5). They had more than a few moments where they were running around like little hooligans and Rita was still somehow able to capture some amazingly sweet photos with such ease. We have had so many compliments on the photos from so many different people! Two weeks before our original wedding date, I called Rita in a panic on a weeknight needing to reschedule our wedding at the last minute, which I realize does not happen often, or ever! She immediately got to work figuring something out and gave us a couple of options for different dates. Jen stepped in for our wedding because Rita was already booked for that date. And Rita was just so amazing and helpful through all of it! Now for the wedding, Jen was equally as wonderful as Rita. She arrived a little early and immediately got to work, I don’t think I actually saw her stop even for a moment the whole evening. She was very friendly and easy to work with and I immediately felt comfortable around her. She also had our blog post done THE MORNING AFTER THE WEDDING. I woke up to a sweet text from her with a link to some of our photos that morning! Unbelievable! And the photos are more than I could have ever hoped for. She was able to capture so many sweet moments in a record amount of time. I cannot wait to see the rest! I have written a short novel here… So I’m going to stop but know that I could go on and on and on about how wonderful they both are! I almost don’t even want to leave such a great review because I want to keep this secret to myself as we are planning to use them for all of our future photography needs, but that would be unfair. So if you are on this page looking for a photographer, stop looking. You’ve found the perfect ladies for the job!

I’m surprised that there aren’t any recent reviews for Rita and her partner, Jen. I’ve dealt with both of them since my cousin’s wedding last weekend and they’re totally fantastic.
Jen was unobtrusive (which was probably a challenge at a small wedding!) while still capturing all of the emotional moments. My family enjoyed dealing with her and she gave good directions when taking portraits. I’ve only seen the sneak preview photos on the blog, but they look really lovely and I can’t wait to see the rest.
Also, I wanted to create a little surprise for my cousin for Christmas using one of the photos Jen took. Rita was quick to respond saying she was on vacation and would get back to me on Wednesday with the files. Amazingly, she did! Maybe my faith in people’s follow-​up ability is drained, but it’s a bit jaw-​dropping when someone says they’re going to do something and then does it. I know that my uncle hired her on slightly short notice as well, so I’m going to go ahead and assume that she’s always so quick to respond, polite and pleasant to deal with over email.

You will not find a better photographer in KC. Rita is passionate about what she does and excellent at doing it. Her use of light, perspective, and composition, is flawless. Seriously, flawless. But, the thing that sets Rita apart, is her ability to capture genuine emotion. Rita has photographed a number of things and people for me over the years, and I am convinced that she is the very best. She’s great at making even the most awkward person lighten up and be themselves so she can capture a natural shot. She’s patient with kids and pets and grumpy old men who don’t like having their photo taken. She’s also documented fine art for me as well as the studio where I work, and I can assure you that she is just as good at photographing spaces and art work as she is people and emotions. She always gets proofs back to me very quickly. She is professional and «on it» but also very down to earth and real. You couldn’t ask for a better photographer, and I know you won’t regret hiring her.

Rita was absolutely wonderful to work with! She is so much fun to be around and she makes taking pictures (which can be slightly awkward) a more comfortable experience. I love the expertise she has about her craft. In addition to being great at getting shots, she will go the extra mile to make sure you have the photos you want. Our dog Silo was a little tricky to work with, but Rita did a great job getting his attention for the photographs. I am so pleased with her professionalism and her product! I talked to many photographer before choosing one for my wedding and looked through even more portfolios of local photographer’s work. Rita’s work was far superior to others– her use of light and artistic eye deliver phenomenal photographs. When I met with Rita I was confident I found the right photographer. I have worked with Rita twice, once for engagement pictures and then for our wedding day, both times she was just great! During our engagement shoot she made my fiancé and I so comfortable, she removed all the awkwardness of taking posed pictures. Several months later we got the same results when she photographed our wedding day. She fit right in with all my bridesmaids, she was helpful above and beyond the expectations I had for a photographer, and the end results were PERFECT! She was able to wrangle my family to get all the family shots I wanted and captured so many great moments I had missed during the reception. She has a photojournalist approach where she can capture a moment or a feeling and you never even knew she was there taking the picture. All the pictures came back beautiful and beyond my expectation– the comments we got from family and friends were just overwhelming. Rita is absolutely amazing to work with. From the moment I met her, I knew I wanted her to shoot our wedding. She is so laid back and nice that I felt like I had known her forever. It was these qualities that made me completely trust her with capturing our day. She fit right in with everyone and was so efficient.
