Pillar Heating and Air specializes in customer service. We repair furnaces and air conditioners but we give you the piece of mind you want in a heating and airconditioning company. We get right to the problem and try to explain the situation to the homeowner in terms they can understand. We work on all brand furnaces and airconditioners but only install American Standard. We give free furnace and airconditioner quotes for replacements. There is a diagnostics fee for trouble shooting your equipment and we work off a flat rate book so you will know the cost will be your cost and there will not be any hidden charges.

History

Established in 2006.

I was a service manager and technician for another company for many years. I always wanted to start my own business and had taken business classes and accounting classes out at Waubonseee Community College. In February of 2006 the opportunity came up for me to start my business, I jumped on it right away. I had the name picked out for years, Pillar Heating and Air comes from 1 TIm 3:15 «The church is the Pillar and foundation of truth» I always believe in being truthful with my customers.

Travis and his helper Adam are great guys to deal with. They are honest, dependable and will answer and explain any questions you have regarding the job they are doing. I recommend them any chance I get. Some of my friends have used Pillar and are very pleased with the work and price. Give them a chance and you won’t be disappointed I promise!!

Pillar is a great HVAC company. I’ve had both the owner Travis and one of his technicians, Nate out.
I initially had them out to do an annual checkup on our furnace and air conditioner. They found the AC was leaking refrigerant and were very thorough in showing me and explaining the issue. They presented numerous options to get back up running at various price points; the option I chose was a new unit given the age of the AC.
In the interim week between the new install they charged up our AC so the house would be cool during that time. The day of install went smooth. They again explained everything they did, cleaned up nicely, and were very friendly.
Knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. If you are looking for heating or air service, do not hesitate to contact Pillar.

I am so thankful I found these guys! I called after 4 pm the other night (which I now realize is after they officially close) because our furnace was blowing cold air. Travis was extremely helpful and told me he would send someone right over. Nate came out and was here probably a good hour and a half fixing our furnace problem. We have very old wiring in our house and he stayed until he got our furnace blowing warm air again. He gave my husband and I some very useful information and we will be using Pillar in the very near future when we have to replace our old furnace and a/​c. Awesome to have found a reputable, honest, and fairly priced place and love being able to support a small business.

Very impressed! Great prices, workmanship warranty as well. Calls picked up and returned right away! Was able to schedule an install of a whole house humidifier the same week! Nate showed up on time and kept me informed throughout the install. He had to put in a different unit since my air duct was small which ended up being $ 100 less! What other company would tell you that? Cleaned up when finished and explained how everything worked. He even saw my burners were dusty and cleaned them! I enthusiastically recommend this company!

We had Pillar come out to do a check on our heating season. The check was by far the most thorough job we have ever had done. He found an issue with excessive dust due to our recent remodeling construction and completed an extra cleaning to make sure we were all set. He took the entire thing apart and scrubbed it out thoroughly. He was very professional, respectful and just a really nice guy. He arrived promptly, wore shoe coverings to protect our home and answered all our questions. We will definitely use Pillar going forward. Very satisfied.

I am so glad I called Pillar Heating and Air Conditioning. Travis came out the same day that I called and was able to fix the issue I was having with my air conditioning quickly. Pillar came to us through a recommendation from our home inspector, and what a great recommendation it was! Travis has been out to our home to inspect both the furnace and now air conditioning unit. His prices are very reasonable, and I appreciate how he always takes time to thoroughly explain everything that needs to be done, as well as provide recommendations for future use. As most HVAC issues do, mine began at 5pm, just in time for emergency pricing. I called these guys based on all the positive reviews, after my furnace went out. After spending several hours doing one repair after another, it was determined it would be cheaper to replace the entire furnace.
I pay for furnace installs for a living and know a good price. Right away they quoted me a fair price and they came out the next day to install everything. They even provided space heaters overnight which got us through the night.
These guys are the best and should be the only ones to call when needing HVAC work!

Our AC was on the fritz. They were kind enough to give us some tips over the phone to try to fix ourselves. The tips worked, but we still had him come out as our unit is 22 years old and we have never had it looked at/​serviced in the 7 years we have lived here. Said he would be there sometime after 2:30, arrived at 3:30. Very professional, honest, and informative. Gave us a lot of options to keep our old unit running for as long as possible as well as suggestions for new systems when we are ready. No pressure at all. Even fixed a the slot for our air filter that kept catching. Found our permanent HVAC company. Thank you very much!

I was having some furnace issues — it sounded like it was kicking on, but then it would never fully start and the house was cold — so I turned to the internet to try and solve my problem. Not knowing much about furnaces, I decided to find someone to fix it for me and that’s when I came across Pillar Heating’s Unilocal reviews.
They seemed straightforward and honest; more importantly, people commented they could be counted on. I gave him a call and he was over in 15 minutes. The owner was able to fix the furnace and was in and out in about a half hour. Travis was professional and knowledgable. He explained everything clearly and the prices were more than reasonable. HIGHLY recommend!

STOP looking for a heating and/​or AC company… PILLAR is the ONLY company I would use. I trust Travis and his team to come into our home and work on our equipment without any hesitation. He is honest, fair, knowledgeable and a pleasure to do business with. My father had worked in this industry most of his life and I KNOW he would be not only impressed (which didn’t come easily LOL), but would sincerely like and respect Travis and his work. I referred Pillar to my sister, who recently and happily, had Travis replace her entire furnace system. She did not even think about considering another company. As a disclaimer, I have absolutely no outside ties with Pillar Htg and A/​C, Travis, or his staff. I am just a loyal customer. We wanted to get a new whole-​house humidifier installed in our new home, and Travis came very highly recommended from our realtors. He and his associate came to our home and efficiently installed the new humidifier, explaining to us very clearly how to run the system, when to perform regular maintenance on our a/​c & furnace, etc… but what really impressed me is that he voluntarily took a look at our 25 year old furnace while he was there. Even though we told him that we had a home warranty (and presumably any work done to the furnace would be with a different, home-​warranty-​contracted company), Travis got out his scope and checked the furnace for us, finding 4 cracks in the heat exchanger. We just had the home warranty-​contractor come to our home to take a look. When he couldn’t find the cracks, he reached out to Travis who told him exactly where to look… and even offered to come to our house to point the cracks out to the contractor!!! Thanks to Travis, we are getting a new furnace! You know that someone is truly in business to serve his customers when he offers to help, despite a different company getting the business. We were so impressed with Travis’ service and professionalism, and he will for sure be at the top of our list for future repairs/​maintenance. Thank you Travis!

We woke up to 58 degrees and a burning smell during the recent «Polar Vortex.» We called Pillar and left a message and Travis was there by mid-​morning. He explained very clearly what needed to be done to repair our problem and did so quickly. We were warm again by noon!

I had new furnaces installed a couple of years ago with Travis. The work was top notch and on time. If anyone asks me about heat and air issues, I tell them about Pillar. Also, we all seen the news videos of heat and air techs ripping people off… I feel the honesty is second to none as well.

When something happens to our heat/​ac, I will only call Travis. We have a heating system that is routinely described as «weird». Our heat comes from our hot water heater (hot water is run through a water/​air heat exchanger and blows through our ac vents throughout the house).
While this may not apply to your situation, this is what will —
1) Travis gave me a quote over the phone (not an estimate, not a guess, not a range) and to his word he stuck to it. He told me that when he gives a quote, he sticks to it, no matter what. It’s obvious he’s proud of being true to his word.
2) He did research before beginning work, even to the extent of calling the manufacturer (now out of business) and tracking down an expert who could discuss my heating system, diagnose the problem, and order the correct parts. How many «professionals» would start work, then call for help when they get stuck and stick you with the extra charges?
3) He goes the extra mile to treat your house like he would treat his own. He diagnosed the problem, discussed the fix with me, and added additional touches like a manual valve to cut the system off and placed sheet metal behind the pipes so our nearby walls didn’t get damaged while soldering.
I’ve met Travis twice, once for AC and once for our heat. He’s a stand up guy, I trust him, and his work never fails to impress. I just can’t say more than that.

I had my air conditioner malfunction when I was out of town. Upon my return I called Pillar and Travis was able to come out the same day to take a look at the unit. He was able to fix the unit and research to be sure that nothing else was suspect in the home. He is a local family man who operates a sound business. My furnace went out on a Sunday night. I called Pillar Monday morning (after trying a few larger companies first actually) and he was able to come out that afternoon. Very respectful on the phone, asked a few questions, and was overall very professional.
Got to my house and diagnosed the problem immediately. He made a few calls to locate the proper part as the direct replacement was discontinued. He went and picked it up and repaired it very quickly. It’s back working like brand new. I cannot recommend him enough — trustworthy and great pricing.
