The Rusty Spoon celebrates the Great Food and Pub Atmosphere; American Cuisine rooted in European Flavors. The great food is sourced from our Florida farmers. The herdsman feed the animals all natural diets; free from hormones, free from antibiotics and any unnatural supplements. The produce is seeded, and cultivated to sustain the farm and the local community. Our farmers cultivate products you love, food stuffs that our in-​season and don’t travel by trains, planes, or 18-​wheelers. Our food is simply delicious; it starts local and stays local!

History

Our menu is seasonal and we believe in building strong relationships with Locals that raise and grow or catch the food we cook. We support our community and our love and respect for our network of farmers as friends is the stuff of super heroes! What’s on your plate started here with their collective commitment to responsibility and care and is prepared with our passion for cooking with the best ingredients!

The Rusty Spoon is located at 55 W Church Street in the Historical Church Street District.

Meet the Business Owner

Chef Kathleen B.

Business Owner

Chef Kathleen Blake, Iowa native, started cooking at an early age in her grandmother’s kitchen. Blake worked in restaurants during high school, and then moved out West to attend the Community College of San Francisco’s Culinary Apprenticeship Program. At Square One, where her mentor, Joyce Goldstein, taught her the importance of focusing on quality ingredients, prepared simply. Goldstein also mentored Blake on the art of building personal relationships with purveyors.

Blake worked at several restaurants across the country including Drew Nieporent’s, The Steelhead Grill, in Pittsburgh, PA.

In 2001, Blake accepted the position as Sous Chef at Restaurant Nora, in Washington DC, the first certified organic restaurant in the US. She was quickly promoted to Chef de Cuisine.

In 2003, Blake was recruited as Chef de Cuisine, opening Melissa Kelly’s Primo in Orlando at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes. She began working with local farmers, organizing a cooperative.
