This law firm advertises themselves as a sliding scale firm that handles family law, bankruptcy, criminal, elder law & probate cases.
They charge a $ 30 «application» fee and the minimum hourly charge is $ 60. They charge 10 hours up front so at minimum your charge will be $ 600 payable within 15 days of them letting you know your eligibility, which they determine by going over your bank statements, pay stubs, etc.
I was actually shocked at the amount they quoted me because my husbands hourly income, except he rarely works a 40 hour week. In reality, anyone who is looking for a sliding scale law firm isn’t going to have upwards of almost $ 1000 on hand so basically it’s a racket.
