The Art of Shaving

Amazing place. I have been going to this barber for over two years now and has always been on point! The barber’s name is Emmanuer and he is outstanding! Pleasant and thorough with his work. The definition and how articulate he is astonishes me. You can tell he is very professional and takes his time to deliver the best possible results! I highly recommend this place. The whole staff there is so polite and warm and always helpful!

I hate to have to do this, but scheduling is important. We all have lives and schedules for services and the providers expect us to be on time. In my experience, I not only scheduled an appointment, but I called and doubled checked before arriving. I rescheduled other parts of my day to assure an on time arrival.
Now the interesting part. I arrive and I’m told that the barber is delayed. OK, I can see that. After a 15 min delay he comes out and apologizes. I found that nice. But then he informs me that someone had taken a «regular» out of the book and then I was booked into that slot. But since that person showed up, I would need to reschedule.
Lets examine that. The guy who was actually in the book — Moi — is told to reschedule and the «regular» takes priority even though he was erased out. The guy even offered a free shave another time.
Here’s the deal. I can afford my shave. I don’t need freebies. I refused the freebie. I could care less about a free ride. I care about getting the service I planned for in a timely manner – just as the provider expects me to not no-​show.

I’d like to give a great review as I’m a loyal Art of Shaving product customer (I love there sandalwood collection). I called earlier in the day for an appointment and was called back with an opening. I was told it was mine unless I called back to cancel. To my surprise they gave the appointment to another person when I called to confirm the time. The receptionist was very rude to me and kept blaming me. She never offered an apology or anything. It was very disappointing as this was my only day while in town that I could go and after being treated the way she did I don’t want to go anyways. For the pricing they have they need to Get rid of the receptionist and find one that can keep customers.

I was on a less-​than-​exciting shopping trip with my girlfriend and her sister until we walked past this beauty. I was like, «Babe! I have to go in there!» My girlfriend and I are both barbers, so I was really intrigued about their services, prices, and shaving products. A woman greeted us and assisted us with any questions we had. I found a product I wanted to check out and she went through a Demonstration of how to use it and how each step in their shave is conducted. She gave us some samples to use on our clients and I LOVED the shaving cream and oil. All I needed was a little drop of the cream and the lather was a perfect consistency for a nice clean shave. The smell was very refreshing, yet masculine, as well. I would highly recommend their shaving products. The woman also gave us a tour of the barbershop area and I was very impressed with how neat and CLEAN everything was. The prices are on the high end but for good reason. They are using high quality shaving products and tools. I think some people get confused about why haircuts are so expensive. It’s about the quality service you experience. The products and the atmosphere are the perfect setting for the perfect shave. I didn’t get the chance to meet any of the barbers, but I can imagine that they are highly qualified.

My wife bought me a gift certificate here for a haircut and a deluxe shave. Kelly was my barber and he is a very personable guy, a must for any barber (is it just me, or are 90% of the barbers in Orlando mute?)
He started off with my haircut and did a good job. My one complaint is he didn’t wipe the cut hair out of my ears (another odd thing about barbers here) so when I looked in the mirror later, I had clumps of cut hair in my ears. :(
Next up was the shave, which I was really looking forward to. He didn’t use as many hot towels as I’m used to with a shave, but he did use a nice oil to condition my face that smelled and felt great. Kelly really took his time with the straight edge razor and had my face smooth as a baby’s bottom by the end. When he was done he put two pads over my eyes (perhaps with lavender?) and left me there for a few minutes. The only problem was one of them caused my left eye to sting, oddly, the right eye felt great.
The shop itself sells all kinds of great shaving equipment. Expensive, but worth it. One thing I did appreciate was Kelly didn’t try to push me to buy anything else.
Would I go here again? Perhaps, as it’s only a mile from my home. This is indeed a good way to feel pampered. I’ve definitely had better shaves, but to get a better shave in this area requires a 45 minute drive for me.

Guys this one is for you! Ladies if you are looking for a nice gift for your man, this one is for you too…
This place is the best of the best. I went in here because I was curious about everything that was inside. The man was sooo nice! He explained every cream, oil, razor, and brush that they had. I love the fact that he was so passionate and knowledgable about the products being offered. He did a demo on his hand and demonstrated the proper shaving technique. I was all ooohs and aahhhs even though Im not a man with a beard! He even gave me a free sample for my boyfriend to try (nice)! When he finished, the back of his hand was so smooth and it smelled great as well.
From that sample my boyfriend was hooked like a fish out of water, lol! The kits range from $ 25 (starter kit), $ 50 (carry on kit), $ 75 (travel kit), and $ 100 – 200 (full size kit). It doesn’t leave irritated skin or razor bumps. I bought a Full size kit ($ 100) and a brush stand ($ 60) for him.
The lady that worked there let me know that you can use the kit to shave your legs (say whaaat???). She told me to try some of my boyfriend’s and see how I like it. I was completely blown away! I don’t have to shave for 5 days!
Be sure to check out the razors and straight razors. The straight razors range from $ 100 – 170. Don’t forget the strap for the straight razor ($ 75). It may seem pricey but the razor and strap lasts for quite a few years.
If you are looking for a haircut and a shave they got you. There is a single chair in the back and they will take care of everything that you need. It costs more than your average haircut and a shave but if you don’t mind go for it. I recommend it for special occasions. That way you can look spiffy and dapper on your special day.
If you are in Millenia Mall, head through the main entrance and its right next to Pinkberry on the right. They will me more than glad to give you a demonstration and a sample. You will be glad that you did!
