Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld®

WARNING! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!
During our move to Florida we gave the Marriott Residence Inn brand a chance to accommodate us while on our trip and it was one of the worst conditions I’ve ever seen a hotel in next to the extended stay. The rooms where dated and dirty looking with stains throughout out the carpet, on the counters, dated furniture and appliances. Dirty old looking bathrooms. The handles on the refrigerators are so worn its disgusting and for the prices they charge you might as well find a nice place. Will never stay in any of these hotels again. If you take any of this lightly i suggest you read the CBC tests done at hotel chains here:

This hotel is not on par with typical Residence Inns. Shower curtain was moldy. Towels were cheap. The clock radio looked like a holdover from the eighties. (Why even bother with a clock radio these days?)
The room and the hotel are very outdated. They both had a weird smell. :(
The ‘cooked to order’ breakfast was yesterday’s warmed up left overs. Served on paper. I thought Residence Inn used real China? Also, there was no fresh fruit!
The staff were nice.
I don’t like to write bad reviews but I travel to Orlando a lot and don’t want to accidentally book this hotel again.

We booked here for a quick overnight stay in Orlando. We chose this hotel because it was one of the few in Orlando that do not charge parking fees or resort fees, which is a definite plus. Even though we were going to Epcot, the hotel was a 5 – 10 minute drive on I-​4 and was easy to get to. We arrived around 10pm and were greeted by a friendly and helpful front desk employee who even provided a hotel map and suggested closest parking to assist with directing us to our room.
Our room was on the 6^th floor and was a studio room with a queen size bed. The room itself was quite large and included a kitchenette, small eating area, and chaise lounge/​couch that was a pull out bed. The bathroom was your standard hotel bathroom, no frills, however I did appreciate the Paul Mitchell hair products.
The free continental breakfast featured more than most free hotel breakfasts. They had cereal, grits, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, homestyle potatoes, danishes, bagels, toast and even fresh fruit. They also had plenty of coffee and juices.
This establishment is very clean and impressive for being a no frills hotel. On top of that, it was extremely quiet. We will definitely be staying here again when we return to Orlando!

This Residence Inn is located approximately 15 minutes from Disney and offers free shuttles to Disney, SeaWorld and Universal, free parking, included hot breakfast and approx. $ 90 Bucks a night with AAA — That’s a lot for the price! It has all amenities of Residence Inn without the evening social — so Full Kitchen, Pay Laundry, Small Fitness Center. Now I will say that this location is not the cleanest and is showing some wear — ie: The Ice maker didn’t work in our room, the dishwasher soap container wouldn’t shut and we also noticed the foul musty odor as others did. I’m sure we would’ve been offered a different room should we have mentioned it but it’s a lot of work to move everything. We went around the block to Wal-​Mart picked up a Glade plug-​in and it was like a new smelling room for the trip (Seriously this was a great fix for less than $ 4). The WiFi (Even the enhanced version) is slow so don’t expect to be streaming anything here.
Front desk staff was nice, simple mobile check-​in — although many times had no answer when we called the front desk. The pool was nice, large and not too crowded at night. The hot tub jets were kind of barely there but the warm water felt nice after a long day at Disney. The breakfast is the same as any other Residence Inn — Large room for seating and outside seating also available. Skim, 2%, Whole Milk, Juices, Soda, Coffee, Tea and Hot Cocoa always there. Canned sausage Gravy, biscuits, scrambled eggs, muffins and variety of cold cereals, pastries, hot oatmeal, grits, toast, bagels available everyday. Some mornings there were waffles that were tasteless, overcooked same as the French toast offered — but overall decent value for the price even if you are just having fruit and yogurt.
We were given a late checkout when we asked which was super helpful for us. We didn’t use housekeeping so can’t speak much to their daily visits.
I would still rate this location a 4 given the value for the small price paid. You get quite a bit of amenities for a small price tag — but yes its not perfect.

Never again. Contrary to other reviews, the breakfast was absolutely horrible. We stayed here specifically for that reason. My kids spit it OUT on there plate!!! (as did I) My first room smelled like cat pee… if you know what that smells like, it’s not what I want to smell in a hotel. They offered to move me, but it was too much work. So we asked for a spray, didn’t work, so they moved us to a suite. It was much better, but with the photos as you can see, this place was truly not how I wanted my stay in Orlando to go. WiFi never worked right. The beds were comfy & the pool was lovely and calm, that’s it. For a Marriott property this was horrendous. The Red Roof in was where we planned to stay, but didn’t. Mistake #1. I am just speechless. Our stay was toward the end of September. Sorry, took awhile to get this review in.

I don’t know why people are giving this hotel good reviews. Maybe they haven’t been in many hotels or are staying at cheap places all the time. I am here on business.
This hotel is outdated period. The carpets, hall, rooms and etc look old because they are. They throttle the free internet speed and offer high speed internet to you for $ 5 a day. They are not near anything but seaworld and offer a shuttle to seaworld with limited times. You will need a car if you stay here. The pool looks much nicer and bigger in the pictures. It was a disappointment. The laundry is $ 2 for a wash then $ 2 for a dry. Washing machines are old obviously. The elevators are slow and on the corners of the building. No elevators in the lobby.
I’m sitting at the free breakfast right now. It’s ok for a free breakfast. It’s crazy crowded so I took mine outside.
In the end I have stayed at a lot of hotels and this is just a low end place to stay. Orlando is filled with wonderful hotels and resorts. If you come here… there are nicer places to stay for the same money.

⁸⁄₁₈: Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld is a Terrible hotel! The front desk is rude, nasty and obnoxious. The housekeeping doesn’t clean the rooms regularly which is nasty beyond belief. This place has no concept of accountability whatsoever. They have no concept on how to do business on a ‘monopoly’ boardgame level. Whenever you bring up any issue to the front desk, they are dishonest, negligent and take zero action.
I am writing up a complaint against this hotel, and I will continue to do so because I am not wasting my money to have a bad experience in this gongshow of an establishment. Sorry circus freaks but I dont get jerked around like this, I do know how to stand up for myself. I’ll keep complaining online and offline until real action is taken.
My advice to anyone that travels to Orlando, Florida: stay at any other hotel instead of this one. You want to pay for and have a good experience when you come to Orlando, this hotel will rob you of that, and of your money.
FYI: Calling this hotel a ‘Gongshow’ would be an upgrade and a compliment.
⁸⁄₁₉: After posting a negative review on 8/​18, the staff at the Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld, went out of their way to accommodate our needs and they gave us a reduced daily rate for the rest of our stay here in the hotel. The housekeeping service have cleaned up the room & provided us with extra towels, blankets, etc. I am very pleased with the actions that have been taken and more importantly, so is my family. Thanks Residence Inn Orlando at Seaworld for all the help that you have provided. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to stay here in Orlando.

I’ve been coming here for 15yrs now and haven’t been disappointed yet. It has become such a regular spot for use that we have developed relationships with some of the staff.

This was a last minute booking because the hotel we were staying in did not have availability so we felt hesitant but ended up very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are a bit outdated but very spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The hotel has a large pool and basketball court for kids but don’t get a room near the court because you will hear kids playing really early in the am. The hotel offered free breakfast which was decent and had plenty of options. Breakfast was available until 10:00 a.m. But you need to get there early before the mad rush of everyone who slept in hits.
Overall good stay for a short notice trip close to major attractions and plenty of restaurants near.

We were in town for a volleyball tournament and stayed for 5 days in June. The hotel is conveniently located and a quick commute to the Convention Center. Logistically saved time not having to plan breakfast for the players in the morning. If you need to leave before breakfast service, the hotel sets up grab and go pasties, bagels, toast, etc. Otherwise, breakfast is the same routine for all Residence properties. Easy in and out for sit down breakfast. There was plenty of seating in the dining area.
Orlando was 95 degrees and 40 percent humidity during our stay, YUCK! Our A/​C thermostat was unable to maintain consistent air temperature. In the middle of the night, the room would heat up for an extended period of time before the A/​C would kick on again. So I did sleep restfully each night.
The amenities were typical for the hotel chain. Although I greatly appreciated the ice maker in the frig. Plenty of free parking. The families staying on the property were pretty quiet, so no issues with loud rowdy guests. Would recommend this hotel for any team participating in a tournament in Orlando.

We stayed here in November of 2013 and I was fairly impressed. I needed a theme park vacation real bad (it’s an issue I have and am not proud of) and I didn’t want to spend too much at a Disney hotel so I booked this place online as part of a flight/​car/​hotel package. The room and the hotel overall were clean and comfortable, and the pool was nice. Unfortunately we could only use it once because it was pretty chilly the week I was there. I woke up in time for breakfast like twice the entire time I was there, but it seemed like people liked what they were eating. The breakfast bar was mobbed every morning, if that helps. The staff was extremely helpful, even giving me a handful of butter packets from the restaurant because I forgot to buy cooking oil at the store to make dinner with. Parking was free which was awesome in its overall rareness for the area, and they offered shuttles to the parks but I live unbound by the man’s restrictive shuttle schedules so I didn’t try those.
My only complaint really was that the kitchen in the suite didn’t have an oven. This would have been fine if I didn’t pick-​up a few frozen pizzas at the grocery store on the way to the hotel. I guess that’s my fault for not noticing that none of the kitchen pictures on their site showed an oven in them. Good news though: they have a Pizza Hut Express right by the pool so it’s easy enough just to eat your weight in those glorious grease-​filled breadsticks instead. All is forgiven, Residence Inn, and I hope the maids ate the frozen pizzas I left for them. For the price and the location right off I-​Drive, this place is worth checking out. Also, the elevators have adorable penguin murals painted in them and who doesn’t love those little guys?

My friends and I stayed here as a last minute decision for a weekend getaway, not for Sea World but for Disney World. A friend who I was traveling with raved about this place so I was excited. We pulled up to the parking lot and I was like a little kid overwhelmed staying in a big hotel. We checked in on Friday night and that’s when the problems started. First off, if I had made the reservations and had a confirmation for a specific price I would expect that rate to stay the same when I got there. My friend was surprised when the rate on her reservation had gone up. I don’t know if she was looking at the confirmation or not but she went ahead and paid the new rate. The hotel inside was nice: a souvenir shop, a bar and grill, the breakfast buffet. We just had a rough start.
Our room had a few things amiss with it but nothing that couldn’t be fixed, like missing DO NOT DISTURB door hanger, a wet spot near the sink, sticky floor in the kitchen area. These were taken care of the following day. But the room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
The breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 was a little crazy. Nothing special about it, just your standard fare of cereal, oatmeal, toast, muffins, grits, scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, yogurt. They also had fruit salad which was the canned variety and not good at all.
Also, my one pet peeve about staying in hotels is to not have housekeeping knock on the doors hours before check out. Why do they do this? People are still sleeping! Geez.
I only stay here if I absolutely had to.

I travel a lot and have stayed in many, many hotels. I LOVE THIS PLACE! The room is excellent. It has everything I need with little kitchenette, living room and separate bedroom PLUS it is Pet Friendly!!! The general managers, Aaron & Mindy, were outside while I was walking the dogs and they were super friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate my requests. Everyone I have met that works here is friendly and pleasant. From the first day, the front desk employees treated me with respect and kindness. Housekeeping staff is great and helpful. Tony in the kitchen is always there to meet me in the dinning room when breakfast is served with a big smile. Everything is clean and well taken care of. Property is well manicured. I will always come back to stay here when I am in the area. I highly recommend this place. SO IMPRESSIVE!

Three stars because the property needs an update. It’s pretty dated. However it’s clean. People are nice. Breakfast is decent.
They say beds are queen size but they seem more like double size. No option for king.
Always get a room away from the highway.

DON’T BELIEVE THE 3 — 5 STAR REVIEWS! This place is a DUMP, DUMP, DUMP, and did I mention this place was a dump? I had stayed there 4 years ago and it was a dump back then. I had told my assistant to never, ever book me there again and that I’d prefer to stay in a crackhouse, an R/​V park, wigwam or a flophouse rather than ever go back there, but guess where she booked me for this years’ convention?
Anyone who rates this place above a 2 either is,
1. An ignorant rube who never travels («Gee Gladys, look — a flushing toilet!»),
2. Blind,
3. Mentally deluded,
4. Has lost their sense of smell.
5. Travels with their smelly dog or a Bigfoot (see below)
To begin with, how this place gets branded a Residence Inn by Marriott absolutely boggles the mind. I’m a long time Marriott Rewards guy and I just can’t believe that this hasn’t been rebranded as a scummy Motel 6. The carpets are filthy and every single elevator smells like hydraulic fluid, just as they did 4 years ago! C’mon guys — four years to get the smell out of the elevators? YES WE CAN… NOT!!! You can literally see the filth embedded in the carpeted floor of the elevators. The hallways are longer than most aircraft carriers I’ve been on. And they are dark, even in the daytime due to the funky carpeting.
The bathroom I had was dated and the both the sink and the bathtub drains were hopelessly clogged. Probably because this Residence Inn allows pets. Fido gets a little funky and gets bathed in the tub. Gross!
I sent a dress shirt out to be laundered first thing in the morning and as a Marriott guy I expected it to be hanging in my closet when I returned from evening events at midnight. Nowhere to be found. Had to call the from desk to look for it and have it sent up immediately. Here’s the kicker — it had a acquired a grease stain above the elbow where none had existed before. Thank God it was a jacket and tie meeting the next day at 8 am. They refunded me the cost of the shirt, but the aggravation, inconvenience and lack of customer service remains. The WIFI is a daily exercise in technology trying to get your smartphone on their service. It’s like the digital equivalent of hitting your thumb with a hammer. The Front Desk people I must say were nice and helpful (one star instead of zero).
You have so many hotel options nearby which cost LESS money. Why anyone in their right mind would stay there, I haven’t a clue.

Nice hotel with clean comfortable rooms. It’s not within walking distance to anything so you’ll want transportation. With a car, access to everything in the area is a breeze, especially for those looking to visit the various parks.
The rooms have a full kitchen which is valuable if you’re staying for a few days. The separate living and bedrooms add to relaxation feature.
Free breakfast in the morning and they always have a nice spread laid out.
The elevator placement is strange and not close to the lobby. They remind me of freight elevators — sloooow.
The beds are comfortable and you get lots of pillows. Have a good night’s sleep. See ya in the morning.

I stayed here for the SHRM conference a few weeks ago. I was also allowed to check in early and I needed to do this to drop off my bags. Excellent service indeed. The hotel was fine, the room was spacious and the free breakfast was very good. I love Marriott and the reason for these 2 stars is due to the baby roaches that I had to kill, at least three of them. Of course, I had to put my Funyuns in the fridge and zip up my qtips in a plastic baggy but what was I suppose to do? This would have been 4 stars had it not been for the little creatures.

Great value and great location!
Traveling to Disney is super easy as it’s right off of the highway and ~10 mins away. GREAT breakfast when you consider it’s free. I wouldn’t mind paying for it… if there was nothing else around. Maybe. Lots of yummy biscuits and gravy, real scrambled eggs, tons of hot and cold options. Tip: get the grits! I’ve never liked them. Ever. Even in the Army when everything barely edible tasted like French cuisine. Add some brown sugar on top and BAM! Delish.
Best pool for families, hands down. It’s not deeper than 5 ft so you deep sea/​lap swimmers are going to head to Daytona or the YMCA. The pool is huge and constructed in a way that allows for babies to wade and get wet from the fountains while older kids can swim and parents can easily watch both. Ample patio seating — sit outside for breakfast because there’s just not enough room indoors.
Rooms are neat and have a full fridge, microwave, and stove plus a dishwasher. We saved tons by cooking real dinners. They provide pots, pans, and plenty of utensils on top of cutlery, plates and glassware.
Reasons not five stars:
lack of any ice machine besides the only one in house, on the first floor. Ice machine in the freezer works but when you have a cooler it’s a pain lugging it 6,027 ft.
Fitness room good for cardio but one weight machine (three stations though) made it clumsy to share at peak times.
Housekeeping was just a bit intrusive: we had yet to check out but they knocked to see if we had left so they could clean. When my wife left with the kids to the car as I loaded up the luggage cart inside, they knocked again to see if we were gone. Like, the occupants were still in the hall and it was barely 10 a.m. When I came back for a second and final trip to get the little bit of crap in the room, as I boarded the elevator another housekeeper asked if I was done. They weren’t rude per se. But geez man, we just spent five nights here and were very tidy. Why are you trying to get rid of us so quick?
I’d still come back in a heartbeat!

Place was nice and clean and we have enjoyed our stay. They had breakfast buffet, swimming pool, basketball court, and BBQ area. It’s a Sea World Hotel so you get free shuttle service to Sea World. The rooms were just like a studio or 1 bedroom apartment with small kitchen area. My only tip is try not to stay on the 1^st Floor because everyone walks through rooms to get to the elevator. It can be noisy at times with chit chatter but convenient to the outdoor and breakfast.

I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties and this is the worst to date. The elevators are very small and super slow. Not to mention no where close to the lobby. The hallway air was very humid and stale on the 6^th floor but tolerable on the other 5 floors.
The staff was very good but many did not speak any English. This is the ONLY location that I have been to that did NOT have an evening social.
My son thought that the pool was great.
