Divers Direct – Orlando

Great selection and customer service. I’m an avid freediver and spearfisherman and finding gear readily available to hold, inspect and try on is hard in Orlando. This location has been great to me on may occasions for many reasons. I’ve bought everything from multiple spearguns to repair and upgrade parts here throughout the years. Rarely do they not have something I need. Best of all the staff is always super helpful and friendly and willing to work with you on getting you dialed in properly. No rush, no nonsense just plain good people. Walter, Zack, Rachel, Britany, Tim and everyone else have been great time and time again. If you live in the area or are just passing through and need some gear, advise or direction stop in and see these guys. You’ll be glad you did and may even make a few new friends.

Had an issue with how unhelpful the staff was when I visited and left a review and was contacted by the general manager who told me he would send a 30 $ girl certificate great right! We’ll three months later and no such certificate has arrived! Bs after bs fixed by bs don’t go here!

Lots of stuff which made it fun to explore, but lots of the same brands. I was surprised to see nearly a hundred wetsuits but most were all the same thing.
But what made it a bad experience was the staff. One guy kept following me around like a used car salesman and he just wouldn’t stop talking. Usually about himself or his adventures. Then he would joke or tease me in front of my wife and laugh. Really?! I hate to say this but he was so obnoxious. I wanted to explore the store and had lots of time and money to do so. But my wife and I literally were doing all we could to stay away from this guy. I later tried connecting with another sales clerk thinking that help. But after a few minutes of talking and seeing his eyes glaze over, he stopped me and said, «I have to tell you I’m new here» which meant, I don’t know what your talking about sir.
In summary, I spent about an hour or more at the store. Tried on and bought a shorty because the sale price was great. I wanted to get much more but It was too uncomfortable & labor some. This is one if the reasons buying online could be so much better.
I was hoping for so much more.
I won’t go back.

Being a dive instructor it was nice to find knowledgable staff to assist with gear purchases. My wife needed snorkeling gear (she doesn’t dive) and the staff was very helpful and patient. The selection was outstanding and the prices are great.
If you are looking to start diving, take classes here and online. Then do your open water dives in beautiful St thomas VI. Don’t let the bookwork stop you! Go diving, you will love it.

The employees here don’t work on commission so they can be honest about the equipment they’re recommending to you.
We went during our recent Orlando trip in order to purchase masks and snorkels for our next Hawaii trip. Normally people would just rent equipment in Hawaii or buy it there. But I am a nervous snorkeler and felt that I really needed to have my equipment with me so I could practice diving and clearing the snorkel in the pool and in our hot tub so I can feel more comfortable in the ocean. Chris could not have been more helpful. We each bought masks we love and are excited for our next opportunity to snorkel!

Just spend about $ 2,000 on new gear and was very happily separated from my money !!!
The product and selection was impressive but that was not the compelling reason I spent my money here. The compelling reason was their salesmanship and service.
Kirby was a perfect consultative salesman and HELPED me select gear that was suited to my scuba abilities. Kristi was a extremely professional adviser and scuba instructor. With her guidance, I was able to buy my gear and dive with her the same day to test my skills with that new gear. It does not get any better than that.

Came in here with the husband while he did a little shopping for some new gear. And I was blown away with the selection of diving gear that they had in stock. The store itself is well organized and staffed really well. The staff was able to answer all my husbands questions and even helped him pick out the new stuff that he needed. When we were checking out they even asked if I would like to become certified to dive so my husband would always have a dive buddy. I said I’d think about it. But it was nice to know that they offered classes in certification too. Whatever your budget I think you would be able to find what you need here and the friendly staff will be there to help you along the way.

My wife and I went to Divers Direct on 6÷14÷2013 to purchase masks, fins and snorkels for an upcoming trip to the Keys. We were greeted by Ron and proceeded to spend over an hour with us. My wife has never been snorkeling and thought she knew what she wanted. Thanks internet. Ron went through in great detail each item and never tried to upsell us at all. As a matter of fact he saved us over $ 100.00 on the gear that we bought versus what we thought we needed. It is really nice to be able to talk with competent and knowledgeable experts. He not only knew the product but shared his use and experiences with the different brands they sell. We will definitely go back again.

Very clean, bright, open store. Nice selection, although I was expecting this to be an «OMG LOOK AT ALLLLL THE STUFF» experience based on the size of the retail space. Mostly it’s all just spaced out displayed really well. Still no gloves to fit me (sad face). Plenty of fitting rooms with plenty of space and well lit. TV with some little soft chairs towards the center of the room was nice to keep the kiddos entertained while the mommas and daddies are spending that cash. 30-​day return policy is nice, so items can be returned if you try them and don’t like them — which we used to try out a pair of fins in our hotel pool. Returns were quick and painless the next day as well. I dig that they have a rewards program, especially since some of that bigger ticket stuff really adds up. Pricing was right in line on the bigger ticket items that I looked at, and a lot of the smaller items were the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere (including what I thought I remembered from their website?). Staff seemed pleasant enough. I called a couple of days before we were in town to see if they had a Lavacore full suit in stock in a certain size, and they graciously offered to hold it for me in the back to make sure it was there when we arrived. Another staff member helped me try on pretty much every pair of fins in there, very patiently indeed. And yet another guy made fast friends with the kiddo and shared some serious enthusiasm for diving and some of the trips they offer (and have done in the past). It felt a little sterile after the homey feeling of my local dive shop, but then I guess most places will.

Well… my husband is nearly a master diver and the manager at this location kept talking to him like he didn’t even know how to swim.
My hubby needed new equipment and my husband was forcing me to buy snorkel gear and we chose Divers Direct to do our shopping… We had our arms full of BCs, fins, masks, belts, you name it… about $ 3K in merch and the manager just kept making assumptions without even letting us talk.
So, we left it all there and went to Scuba World… where they are absolute pros! We paid a few dollars more, but the expertise and service was worth it. Lots of questions and they just about inspired me to learn to dive.

Lots of stuff for experienced divers!
This place is a huge store with tons of equipment for experienced divers. No matter whether you need a new tank, or a flashy underwater camera, this place has you covered
The Good:
Anything you want: This place has books, suits, stuff for spearfishing, I mean this place literally has everything.
Good Deals: This place has a «you find it cheaper we beat it by 10%» policy, and they also have a diver’s reward club for frequent shoppers.
Classes: Like any good dive place, this place offers tons of classes. Their selcetion is a bit smallish compared to other places, but they’ve got the basics which is what counts
