D’Best! Floorz & More

Had our share of problems– but throughout the project they were responsive and took care of issues that came up. BUT once you pay them in full– you better be sure you don’t need them anymore. After about 5 days, my chocolate colored grout turned grey. When i complained about this, they sent someone out– who said there was nothing that could be done. I was not happy with this answer when I spent $ 20K on flooring! I was told a manager would contact me. A week passed– no call. I have since called and left 3 messages, no return call. Customer service after the sale is horrible.

Good price, good work when they complete it, but horrible customer service and follow-​through. Advice: Be present when they install. Only pay partial deposit upfront. They ask for the remainder before installation, but DON’T pay them the remainder until the job is done (this is how must companies do it). Inform them of this before you make deposit because they have you sign this 1 page contract that they like to point to. Lastly, use a credit card. If things go south and they don’t want to complete the job, dispute the charge.
BBB ratings are for complaints that BBB needs to get involved with… D’Best has 8. If it’s like my story and my in-​laws and the other people on here… if you’re persistent you eventually resolve without needing to make a BBB complaint. But it’s not a good experience.
Now for my story if you still wish to read:
We purchased carpet for 4 bedrooms in our house. The rest of our house we had laminate already there. We looked around at other stores and found D’Best to be the cheapest. So we moved forward and they sent someone out to measure.
They hire third-​party contractors as many places do to install. They installed when we were at work. We paid deposit in store and remainder when they arrived to install. When we came home every room threshhold had a cement gap between carpet to laminate (no transitions were installed) and the master bedroom carpet was cut too short leaving an even larger gap. After several messages with no returned calls I showed up in store to request someone to come fix it. There was a lot of back and forth. D’Best blaming us that we didn’t tell them we needed transitions (didn’t even know what those were but their measurer should have known). The installer didn’t want to return to fix it so they had to send the store installation manager. Time frame to get it fixed…1 month. And they even wanted to charge me to send him out. During the entire process they made excuses and passed blame. Very unprofessional. So if you’re going with them, follow my advice above.

I always like to start with the positive — the sales pitch was top notch (by the owner). He went as far to promised that if I was not happy with the work/​tile installation, it will be completely redone; so NOT TRUE. That’s it. Now it’s all downhill once you’ve paid.
I could have avoided so much grief and frustration if I had read the reviews posted on Unilocal before hiring these folks. I too agree and experienced most of the negative comments from my fellow Unilocalers so I won’t repeat myself. The lack of communication, follow-​up, honesty and professionalism is/​was painful and to boot, the finished work is just OK. I find the response from the store manager laughable and untrue; this business is not BBB Accredited. Sadly they have a way of skewing the truth, with selective memory and justifying every single issue that you bring up. As far as they are concern, it’s the customer’s fault. However, due to my research analyst background/​mentality, I have written down, every conversation with times, people, dates and discussion.
Hopefully, these reviews will bring about an aha moment to this organization, where training (communication, listening, follow-​up, empathy, honesty, proactive, solution oriented, excellence mindset skills, etc) will be provided and enforced to all employees, including the owner/​s. («Everything starts from the top.»).

I went back a second time after visiting several other stores with the intention to buy a product within two days. I decided on a hand scraped laminate but was undecided on the color. I asked for four samples (one of each color) so I could coordinate with my stone fireplace and existing wood. They told me it would be $ 25 per plank for deposit of $ 100 total (the planks retail for $ 1.89sq ft let me add). I thought that was strange and extremely high considering every other place in town I went shopping charged me five dollars per plank (floor & décor for example) I explained to the woman I would give them the $ 25 cash I had in my pocket for the four laminate planks as a deposit but did not want them to charge my credit card $ 100 for a deposit on something that is worth less than $ 8 retail. She said «we charge that much because people weren’t coming back» then she said «I can see what I can do» then went to her desk made a phone call, talked for a minute then got up and disappeared through a door to the back office (assuming it was an office or warehouse) like a car salesperson then didn’t reappear for another four to five minutes. She told me they would not give me the sample planks for my $ 25 offer and proceeded to show me tiny samples and said «this is what we can give you for $ 25». If getting a sample is this hard (and overpriced) I can’t imagine actually getting them to install it, deliver it or anything for that matter! Considering I was about to write them a check for about $ 4,500 you’d think they wouldn’t nickel and dime you just trying to get a freaking sample! So management if you’re reading this, people aren’t coming back because you didn’t charge enough deposit they’re not coming back because your customer service is horrible because I actually liked the product.
So to sum it up it was worst customer service I experienced out of all five flooring stores I visited in Orlando. I’m not going to say who I went with but I did make a large purchase two days later and it was definitely not this place! There are so many other better options out there so stay away stay away stay away.

We had a terrific experience having laminate installed in our home. Our budget was tight and the timeframe to get the floor installed was limited. They totally came through for us.
I can’t say enough about how easy Leo was to work with. He was able to provide us with options they had in stock in our price range. I also can’t express how amazing the install crew was. They were clean, quick and very professional.
Honestly the bad Unilocal reviews almost scared me away from using this company. I’m glad I decided to try them. We will be using them again in the future.

We have had the worst experience with D’Best. If we could, we would take pictures of our carpet install and stand out front of D’Best to warn people of the horrible product they could receive. We have seams in almost every room in our house. You can physically see the division from one piece of carpet laid to the other. It’s embarrassing and downright negligent. The installer told us verbally that some of the guys working on our project didn’t know what we were doing, but that we were basically stuck with the product unless we wanted to fight with the owner. The owner was very rude, accusatory, and made us feel like criminals because we weren’t happy with the end result. we had to take photos and show him «proof» before he would send the installer back out again. they tried to make it better, but never fixed the problem. simply, in order to fix the problem they would have to lay new carpet. we couldn’t even get them to come out for a fix, let alone agree to replace it on their dime. Then we were told that the warranty has run out, and they want to know WHY we haven’t consistently contacted them about the issues. Well, that answer is simple. We all have lives, and as much as i enjoyed having the gout ridden installer delay our appt multiple times and then show up at our house with his wife and kids, i’ve got much better things to do with my time. So. in short we are still fighting with D’best to get them to fix our issue out of basic customer serve. based on their response time, it is not boding well for the D’best name. i plan to follow up with this post with status updates. Enjoy and in the meantime, avoid D’Best at all costs…

D’best Floorz is great all employees an installers are friendly considerate and they do what they say they will, the deliver and exceeded my expectations. We will certainly use them in the future with our other projects to come. Great job!!!

The Worst flooring place in Orlando
Scheduling the instal is a nightmare, unprofessional people, will not schedule instal, they showed up 1 ½ hours early and left because we weren t there, this appointment tooke 2 weeks to get, they offered to make another appointment but it was another week before she would re-​schedule, so now we are looking at 3 weeks because they showed up at the wrong time… Trust me, don t use these people

I have been searching high and low to find a place that sells decent priced tile for my entertainment room and despite the light up signs they have outside and all the stickers promising you 49 cents per square ft is an all out LIE plain and simple.
When you go into the store and ask for the tile, guess what?
«We’re out of that right now, but we have this beautiful 18×18 at only 2.99» … Are you kidding me!!!
They’re out of the product they’ve got advertising in neon lights but they want to turn around and sell me a «substitute» at five times the price? AND!!! That’s not including installation.
That turned me off for a start but I decided to take a look around anyway since I had bothered to drive out this far. All of the tile ranges from 1.99 + The only «SALE» tile they had was for like 1.19 and it was in very limited quantities, not even enough for a small room.
Oh and the workers here will totally be on your tail trying to pressure you to buy this extremely overpriced tile and sometimes while one of them was talking, he would in mid sentence turn away and just start talking to someone else, or looking at his watch when I spoke so at one point I turn around and say: «I don’t want to commit to anything; I’m just browsing since the 49 cent tile is not available, if I see something else that interests me, you’ll be the first to know.»
The guy actually scoffed in my face and walked away!!!
So I turned around and walked out of the store and will do my best to let anyone know that if they’re in need of tile, this is without a doubt; THE LAST PLACE YOU SHOULD GO!

Prices are good but everything after that is not. Took way too long to schedule installation, had a problem with the 1^st guy they sent to install the flooring, charged us more than the quoted price and manager was rude & argumentative when I tried to resolve the situation. Bottom line… shop around and go somewhere else. There’s a reason there were no other customers in the store every time I went in there. The one up side: the 2^nd guy the sent to install was fabulous & the flooring looks great now but truly not worth the stress & aggravation.
