Austin Home Restorations

We used Austin Home Restorations to renovate our Master Bedroom in our 1920’s house, and are very happy we did. It was our goal to match the renovated master bedroom with details found throughout the house. Despite some of these details being miniscule and painstaking to recreate, Austin and the team pulled them off flawlessly. The overall product exceeded our expectations and is now our favorite room in the house!
What I found with this company was not a typical construction team, but a group of true artisans that take their craft very seriously. There was not an endless stream of subcontractors running through our home; most of the work was self-​performed by AHR employees, and they were all great.
Further, our project manager Mark was always very polite, kept us informed of daily work, maintained a very clean job-​site, and stayed on budget and schedule. Scott, the owner, stopped by on a regular basis, so I always felt that my job was a priority. I definitely recommend them!

Huge Disappointment! Takes advantage of people.
Project: Build Custom Kitchen Cabinets, Bathroom Cabinet, Custom closet, and 1 Custom Media piece.
Problems:
— Failure to Honor Price Quotes
— Failure to Complete Projects in a Timely Manner
— Failure to Show Up when Scheduled, with No Call or Explanation
— Failure to Communicate
— Failure to Install Project Correctly or Take into Account Functionality
Examples:
— No Call No Show for installation day — when we called the response was something else came up
— Cabinets were supposed to be ready in August and were not ready till early October
— Once Installation started all pieces were not complete and therefore delayed finishing the project — when we asked why response was always «they need one more coat of paint.»
— Installation required them to come out over 7 times to complete the job
— Installation of Cabinets were not level which once again required us to ask them to come out again to re-​install.
— Did not honor Price Quote for Media Piece — sent someone from their team and he gave price of $ 500. When we called owner (Scott) to ask when they could start price increased to $ 750. We argued and final price was $ 650. Still $ 150 more than original quote.
— Media piece took 3 months to make when told it would be 1 month
— Cabinet above Microwave was made to specs. But did not take the time to realize that microwave was too high. When we asked them to make a pice to lower it, the obliged but asked that someone from contractor team was there for installation. Contractors team installed the microwave with Austin Home Restoration (AHR) team member present. But team member only helped to lift microwave. A unexpected bill for $ 175 showed up 3 days later for the piece of wood (29 inches long and 8 inches high), painted white and labor of lifting the microwave with someone else not from AHR. When we sent letter that the bill was too much $ and we never agreed to that. Owner sent the bill again certified mail with no explanation.
— Communication was nonexistent. Unless we called or asked when things were going to be completed or when they were coming back to finish the job, we did not hear from them.
— There are more examples of the poor customer service… but these highlights should demonstrate the lack of professionalism and business etiquette that you will experience when working with Austin Home Restoration. It is a stressful business relationship that only seeks to take as much money from you as possible.

We have used Austin Home Restorations on several projects. Scott, the owner, always explains what needs to be done in detail and then does what he says. There are never any surprises and always great results. Anyone doing old home restoration should use Austin Home Restorations.

I hired Austin Home Restorations to lay a slate floor and it turned out perfect. They were clean, courteous, and on time! I cant say that about the other companies that I have hired in the past. The next project that comes my way they will be handling in a heart beat.

I hired Austin Home Restorations to remodel a bathroom and paint the outside of my home. Scott did both jobs with excellent workmanship and ON TIME! I can’t think of a higher praise than that «I was thoroughly impressed!». There is a patio door that is in need of replacing and these guys already have the job when I’m ready to proceed.

I hired them to renovate my kitchen and son’s room. They were friendly, clean, on time and came in on budget. I will use them again and recommend them to others. A+
