A funny thing happened on the way to my first visit to the Jazzy Dog Café to try a soybean hot dog: Jazzy has gone out of business. So I walked to the other end of a small row of businesses on Sligh Boulevard, the Thai Spot, to find that they were closed on Saturdays.(With due respect, I wasn’t jazzed about going to Jazzy’s anyway, since the last veggie hot dog I tried was the second-worst thing I’ve ever had in my mouth.) On the way back to the car, I spotted a sandwich board sign advertising wraps, smoothies and juices. It was in front of an unlikely place named Away Day Spa. The personable and lovely owner, Ms. Carol, greeted me with her island-lilt accent, perhaps Jamaican. It was one of those dreamy accents that can cause me to melt right into the floor. Passing by an assortment of hair-care products(which I didn’t need), I ordered a tuna wrap, with freshly-sliced avocado, freshly-sliced cucumbers and more. Not usually a fan of wraps, this however was delectable, as was the entire short experience at this new(I assume) establishment across from the Orlando train depot. Oh, and Ms. Carol is also an aesthetician/massage therapist, which of course is the primary business of Away Day. Give it a try, whether you’re looking for a massage, hair care products, juices, smoothies, or a delicious wrap.
