Nicole Richards Hair Salon & Spa

Love this place! From a friendly front desk to an expert team of stylists, makeup artists, nail techs, aestheticians and massage therapists, I confidently recommend Nicole Richards Salon & Spa. I am a longtime client (12+ years) and have been exceptionally loyal to stylist Amanda for my hair. Her attention to detail is spot-​on and she has always been eager to fix or adjust the very few times that my color has not come out exactly how I wanted. (There was a time they had changed color lines and we were having trouble getting my grays covered.) I joked that Amanda was booked before I even got engaged because I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing my hair on my wedding day! My entire bridal party got ready at the salon with me as well, and it just made for a special day. I have recommended many people to the salon over the years… so for anyone wanting to give them a try, I would suggest: Amanda, Carla, and Jen for sure. But honestly, the entire staff is super talented.
One thing to add… if you’re worried about price, I would say that NR is very comparable to similar salons. You can certainly get services at a lower price elsewhere… but I am personally okay with paying a little extra when I know the stylists are well trained and will actually stand behind their work. Also, if cost is a factor for you, instead of breaking the bank on a full head of highlights, I opt for a partial highlight job to be more cost efficient when it comes to touch-​ups.

I’ve been coming to this salon for hair, nails and pedicures for almost ten years and have always had a good experience. Cheryl K has been doing my hair since 2006 and I have always received nothing but compliments about my hair whether the style or color! All the nail techs are awesome and the staff is very professional and friendly. I have always received great customer service to say the least. I can’t imagine going anywhere else to get my hair done. Try them you won’t be disappointed!

I had a manicure here, it is a pretty nice salon, but unfortunately I was very disappointed with the results…
1.) The girl filed my nails crooked and I had to tell her to fix them, but she only made them worse, so I had to fix them when I got home, because I didn’t want to be rude and grab the file from her right then and there, but it was some of the worst/​sloppiest filing ever.
2.) The nail tech (who claimed to have worked there for over 8 years) does not know how to polish nails (or maybe it is too dark in that room for them to actually see, because I did not notice this until I got outside into the sun), but I had chosen a hot pink polish from OPI, and the way the girl polished my nails left indentations from the brush at the moon of the nail, so bad that you can actually see through them.
3). When the nail tech applied top coat, she couldn’t be bothered to polish the entire nail, and you can see where the top coat and nail polish separate. There literally are lines on the sides of my nails. Also, one nail literally has streaks because she did not use enough top coat/​did not distribute it evenly.
4.) The nail tech did not use the «cap-​off» technique when applying top coat, which is basically the reason people get professional manicures as far as I am concerned (capping off is where top coat is applied to the edge of the nail, to seal in polish and prevent chipping). She also did not apply any nail prep product to extend my polish, other than cleaning it with alcohol and basic base coat. Needless to say my polish started chipping the same day I got the manicure…
This is pretty unacceptable at $ 22 for a manicure in the south suburbs of Chicago. Lets be real…

Oh my great pedicures by Kathy that keep me coming back month after month. If you have time go for the ultimate pedicure as well. Great scents and awesome time for yourself to relax, and indulge in some pampering time for yourself and your friend. Always better to call for an appointment, but get in there when you can it’s worth it.

I went here for a haircut and was really disappointed. The salon was very clean and modern looking. My stylist was older and didn’t really seem to be up to date on trends. I should have known judging by her hair and style that it wasn’t going to be a good match. She was very nice, but I ended up with a haircut that looked like I was in an 80s hair band! I said I wanted layers and that is what I got. Awful… I will not return.

I’ve gone to Nicole Richards twice for hair coloring. The first time I went was ⁶⁄₀₉ with Heather. I had long hair during that appointment so it took about ~3 hours for my entire appointment to follow through. I came in with about 6″ of outgrowth from another hair color which is a dark brown.
She spent a lot of time to ensure that my previous color AND roots would be all one color. After the first coloring, she took the time to go all over highlights as well. My hair looked perfect! Sadly I wasn’t able to experience it for too long as I had been hospitalized but the color lasted for months and months looking just as good as the first day!
The second time I went, I had Diana. She was very sweet, listened to me and of course did my hair. I’m just not as overly thrilled with my hair. Much like last year I came in with major outgrowth. so she had to color two different hair colors in my hair. Unfortunately the outcome was not what I wanted. You can see my old outgrowth as one color and my other hair as another color. I spent $ 200 on hair cut and color only to have two different colors going down the length of my hair. Not at all what I had expected.
Nonetheless, I feel that she worked hard on my hair (and the hair cut she gave me I did love) so she deserved her $ 40 – I just wish she spent more time ensuring the color would be more perfect.
