I was in French’s Pastry a few weeks ago just before closing. I was unaware of their business hours and i did apologize for coming in so late. The people behind the counter were obviously annoyed that they had to help me 4 minutes past their closing. I went ahead and bought a few different items since it was my very first visit. I was pretty dissapointed with every single item. The fruit tart was just some whipped cream with fruit. The lemon bar was sub par and the cookies tasted like raw flour. Needless to say i will not be returning to an establishment with such an underwhelming product and terrible customer service.

French’s Pastry is AMAZING! Strawberry/Chocolate Wagons Wheels are the best and I can’t wait to try something new each time it is available. It is a must try if you haven’t been yet!

I wish I would have read the reviews before I went here. One of my co workers recommended their cakes since I had mentioned the disappointment in trying to find a real good chocolate cake. She said, «Oh you have to go to French’s». So I did on my wife’s Birthday. I left work early to make sure I didn’t get there before they closed, picked out a chocolate cake from their case which they said was very fresh. What a disappointment !!! It tasted like it was at least a week old. Very dry and the frosting was stiff. My family was trying to be gracious when we were all eating the cake until I said the cake was pretty bad. They all then quickly agreed. I was going to call and talk to the manager but when I tried, the young girl that answered seemed very busy and wanted to take my number and call me back. When I asked for her to have the manager call me she stated she was out until tomorrow. I left my number anyway and in the meantime I looked them up on Unilocal.I will not call them back as it seems this is a common occurance there. Wow !!! You would think by now they would have cleaned up their act. All the readings about the young people with poor customer service sounded very familiar when I thought back to the day I originally went in there. At the time I was so excited to get that great cake I overlooked it. My search for a good chocolate cake continues…

I adore this bakery. My mom and I each get the same birthday cake every year and it has to be from French’s. Also, I work nearby and my coworkers and I regularly bring their pastries and wagon wheels for potlucks. They are very affordable, as well.

My favorite bakery ever! I just bought one of their beautiful cakes for my daughter’s birthday, and it was perfect… beautiful and, of course, so moist and tasty! I also buy their breakfast pastries every week for clients. The danish and wagon wheels are the best! Always a hit.

This review is long overdue… I’ve been going to French’s Pastry for many years because of all their awesome goodies… especially their cakes and yummy brownies. But the main item that I really enjoy are their delicious wagon wheels. which are like a large pizza sized danish topped with things like apple cinnamon or chocolate chips. When I bring these to work… I become like everyone’s favorite coworker and the wagon wheels get devoured in no time lol! It’s good to go to the shop real early to pick up the wagon wheels, since some of the favorite flavors(like the fresh strawberry) are usually sold out by 8:00am. But just to be safe, I usually call the day before to order a few for pickup the following morning. The prices have gone up a bit over the years. Today I got the fresh strawberry(which costs a little more), lemon, and chocolate chip. and the total came out to $ 35.94.

Stopped by to pick up some treats for a friends birthday, waited 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged that I was standing there…4 people working and not another customer. Terrible customer service. There was a sign that advertised $ 2 off a dozen cookies and figured I would get some along with cupcakes. What a waste of money. The worst cookies I have had in a very long time. Perhaps they should limit there selection and work on making things taste better. I would not recommend or return to bakery. Everything ended up in the trash.

When I first came here in the summer of 14 this place was 5 stars and every time I stop in for a crescent or a scone or even their bread pudding it is that of 5 star quality. Like don’t understand these people who rated 3 stars customer service and quality always on point honestly can’t go wrong when you go to French s bakery.

After a wonderful lunch at Zena’s I decided to treat myself to a sweet !(I never do that) I got a small chocolate cream puff, it looked so good ! Sorry to say it was not, the pastry was so incredibly stale I just licked some of the whip cream out(which was very good) and threw the pastry away… Will I be back, I don’t know? First impressions are important !

I have been going to this bakery since I was a kid. I honestly think the cakes are just OK. My absolute favorite are cheese danish(all the flavors are good but cheese is my favorite). The large eclairs are amazing. I have never had another éclair come close.

I have purchased several cakes from French’s and they have been good quality cakes, especially the chocolate banana whip cream cake. However, on my recent purchase I ordered a Florentine Fruit Bowl cake and it was terrible! The cookie was so hard that I could barely bite into it and the layer of cake was thin approximately 1″ –1 ½″. It was mostly whip cream that tasted like cool whip(suppose to be Bavarian cream) and canned fruit mixed with fresh fruit. Very disappointed !!!

To the ladies who worked this afternoon/evening, THANKYOU so much for kind service! I really appreciated your patience and kindness. Also, to answer your question about the sunglasses, they’re called Club Masters. The oatmeal cookie hit the spot like no other! Chewy, not too sweet, and buttery perfect. Again, thank you ladies for making my day better after a way too long day at work! I’ll definitely be back :)

Delicious but I wasn’t aware I was limited on daily specials. The gal in the front made it clear as she rudely said«this will be the last time you can get this» Maybe signage should be considered?

The impression when you walk into this bakery has a wow factor of yesteryear. French’s is an old timey bakeries that existed in the 70’s when bakeries offered everything baked and is timeless. Wrapped gift type baked goods to take to a friends house, or a variety of bread rolls to take to your auntie’s house for Sunday dinner dominated the display shelves. Then there are the bakery cases brimming over in an enticing selection of sweets. It is a bakery and gift shop of baked goods. I visited French’s the day before Easter and there were lots of orders coming out of the back area. Brightly colored purple and pink coconut covered egg shaped cakes, birthday cakes, hot crossed buns, multi colored bread twists, strawberry tarts and napoleons filled exiting bakery boxes. Displays included Easter cellophane wrapped gifts of breakfast pastries of every kind. The pastry rounds had dollops of peaches and lots of other fruits or custard, or cinnamon swirls ready to take to brunch or coffee at a friend’s house. Bread baskets were filled with rolls and wrapped in Easter themed cellophane. Assorted cookie trays were also wrapped and ready to give as gifts. There is a large selection of bagged bread rolls lining the display cases of cakes, cookies, pastry, pies, decorated cupcakes for the kiddies, and a cupcake selection for the rest of us. I picked out a selection of cupcakes including German chocolate cake, lemon and carrot cake. The carrot cake cupcake was the favorite of my Easter gathering. To me it was ok. The German chocolate cupcake cake was good but the frosting had a tacky texture that was throat clogging. The lemon cupcakes were left alone. The cream puffs and chocolate cream puffs were ok. The cream puff itself was a bit soggy. But I will be back for their chocolate chip shortbread cookies that reminded me of a cafeteria style cookie… heavy but strangely delicious. I will be back to try their dinner rolls and one of those pastry rounds. I may have to plan a few trips back here to try everything this bakery offers that looked delicious. I would recommend this bakery above grocery store bakeries.

We always order the fresh whipped cream cakes with fresh strawberries(vanilla or chocolate flavored cake). The whipped cream is not overly sweet and the texture is divine. I don’t like their buttercream, as it is way too sweet for me. I’ve also ordered a Florentine bowl and that was just awesome, plus it looks very unique! We’ve ordered the custom designed cakes before and they do a great job with the decorating. Great price, friendly service, so close to home. I love it!

All I want to eat is a Fudge Brownie A fudge brownie All I want to eat is a Fudge Brownie If I could eat a Fudge Brownie Then I’d be very happy. French’s bakery located in Orange at the corner of Tustin and Meats in the Staples shopping center baking up an abundance of homemade cookies, decorative cakes, frosted cupcakes, breads, tarts and ooey gooey treats and offering friendly service. The only thing I can hands down is amazing and always good is the fudge brownie. This is a case where size doesnt matter. Its super small for a brownie. Maybe 2.5−3 inches but after you start eating it, its so rich and chocolaty, paired with chopped walnuts with a ooey milk chocolate frosting that smears itself all over your fingers. The brownie seems like its undercooked, it definitely failed tge toothpick test. If your into cookie dough or lickin the brownie batter spoon then you will be in brownie heaven. Review #504

The bakery has a good selection, but lacking in taste. Perhaps it could have been what was ordered, but I tend to order a fruit tart at bakeries which I go to, if there is one. Ordered the mini éclair, fruit tart, and macaron. Éclair was stale, and the custard was not creamy. Fruit tart was mediocre: fruit variety plentiful, cream tasted like cool whip, crust was thick and flavorless. The chocolate covered macaron was the better of the three. It is not a poor taste to not try. Perhaps their other selections are more tasty. However, of my favorites, they were lacking. Hope you have a better experience.

In the same plaza as the Staples and Bevmo. I was hungry and I saw French’s so I told my BF I wanted to go inside ‘just to see’ and that is what we should have done. Nothing really looked appealing to me, but my BF ended up buying the Cream Cheese Danish($ 2) because he knows that is my favorite. I took a couple bites just because I was hungry, but I’ve had better. Crumbs on top kept falling all over the place and it could have used more cream cheese. Service was kind of lacking. Walked in and there were 3 people behind the counter, but no greeting whatsoever. So we just walked around and finally someone told us if we needed anything to let her know. Doubt I will ever be coming back again…

I had a groupon for this place and picked up a fresh strawberry wagon wheel for my BF’s dad, and cream puffs for my dad. Rewind a bit. I called my order on Thursday for the fresh strawberry wagon wheel, hung up, and called back 15 minutes later to order a custom wagon wheel. I was told by the girl on the phone that they don’t do 3 flavors on the wagon wheel anymore, and the web was incorrect. Ok, no biggie. Hung up. Saturday I picked up my wagon wheel, and then looked at the selection in the bakery. Sigh. not quite what I wanted, so I told the girl«too bad I can’t custom make my wagon wheel anymore». The girl said«really? since when?». I told her about my phone call and she told me that I was misinformed. They still do 3 flavors on the wheel, that I just need to call it in. I can see why the reviews here are mixed. Customer service is pretty wonky at this place. So I decided to get a strudel, my fresh strawberry wheel, and 6 mini cream puffs for the 2 dads. My groupon was for $ 30, and I just had to pay an additional $ 2 out of pocket. Not bad, considering I paid $ 15 for the groupon. I’ll still come back for the wagon wheel, but will keep in mind the inconsistency of the staff.
