Time again for The CWS. The craziness, Mayhem, high energy, white tents everywhere, grilled foods, team shirts/hat shops, tailgating, waiting all day for those GA coveted seats, block parties, food trucks, beer gardens, loud music, and of COURSE, BASEBALL!!! Come one, come all to one of Omaha’s claims to fame(the other of course being Bershire Hathway Shareholders event) and both occur in north downtown! Enjoy a week and a half of grueling heat and a passing shower or two while your favorite teams duke it out for the coveted NCAA men’s title. May the best team win! Oh and refer to their websites for places you can park and shuttle in. It’s crazy down here!

Another successful CWS is in the books! While baseball fans from far and wide are still adjusting to TD Ameritrade Park and the surrounding area, North Downtown is becoming a bigger/better festival de baseball each and every year. Just like visiting the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown, checking out the CWS at least once is a must for any diehard baseball fan. The CWS is great for families looking for some wholesome all American fun. And if you just like to party down in beer gardens for like eight hours a day, well, the mêlée surrounding the stadium has got you covered there as well. Congrats to Vandy, btw!

If you consider yourself a Baseball fan, do yourself a favor… add a trip to the College World Series to your sports bucket list. I’ll wait while you do so… OK. Let’s continue. Omaha is where the eight best College Baseball teams in the country meet every June to battle it out in a double elimination tournament to crown the best team in the land. You may not think there’s much of a following when it comes to NCAA baseball. Well, the 25,000 people who packed TD Ameritrade Park for every game would beg to differ with you. I had the good fortune to attend the game between Indiana and Mississippi State. Both schools were represented well. The crowds were on the edge of their seat for every pitch. For a Baseball junkie like myself, the experience was pure bliss. What surprised me the most about the trip was Omaha’s ability to throw one hell of a party. The Downtown area was packed with drunken fans from all 8 schools. The Bars and Restaurants were packed. TD Ameritrade Park is the perfect venue for this Tournament. This state of the art Baseball Stadium is a fabulous place to see a ballgame. If you plan on attending, I would suggest purchasing reserved tickets in advance. The General admission seats are only honored for the first 5,500 fans who enter the park. Having a G.A. ticket, does not guarantee you entrance to the park. Here’s the fabulous bottom line: The College World Series was everything I hoped for and more. Great Baseball in a great Ballpark. This tournament is a fabulous experience that even a casual fan would enjoy.
